Twitter Guide

Creating a Twitter account

Step 1

When the user searches for Twitter in a Search engine, such as Google, they will
easily find the home page at www.twitter.com. Here the user is afforded the
opportunity to “Sign Up”, as circled above. Those without an account should enter
the site here, those who already have an existing account should enter through the
normal “Sign In” area above the “Sign Up” area.
Step 2

The user will then be asked to enter their details. These details include:
    • Full name (the name attached to the Twitter profile),
    • Username (the name which will be public for the Twitter profile),
    • Password (a strong password is between 8-10 characters and consists of
       letters and numbers),
    • Email (the user should have an email account ready).
Once these details are entered the user will then click on create my account. By
clicking this the user agrees to the terms and conditions of Twitter.
Step 3

Once the user has entered their details they will be asked to prove they are not an
automated system by correctly entering the security words, as outlined above.
When the user has entered the words they should then press “Finish”.

Step 4

Here the user can choose topics of interest to them which they may wish to follow.
These topics are quite vast and encompass many topics in both a professional and
non professional context. To continue the process the user should click the “Next
Step” option.
Step 5

The user will then be offered the option of allowing Twitter to access their email
contacts list, as shown in step 6, in order to boost the followers they have and the
persons whom they follow. The user can, of course, refuse this option and gain
followers and become followers directly through the sites facilities. Again, to
continue the process the user should click the “Next Step” option.

Step 6
Step 7

Here the user may simply search for other users to follow along a related topic of
their choosing and interest. Once these choices have been made the user may
continue the process by clicking the “Next Step” option.

Step 8

After verifying the account the user may then begin tweeting. Highlighted above is
the section where the user may view the amount of other users they are following
and who are following them. It is important for the user to keep these numbers as
high as they can to achieve results through Twitter.
TweetDeck Guide

Beginning the TweetDeck Experience

Step 1

By either entering TweetDeck in a search engine or directly entering
www.tweetdeck.com, the user may begin the initial process for engaging with the
TweetDeck application.
Step 2

On the homepage of TweetDeck the user will see the “Sign In” option in the top right
of the screen, as highlighted. They should enter using this option.

Step 3

Here the user will be prompted to sign in, they should do so with their Twitter
account, as previously created.
Step 4

The user will automatically be redirected to this screen, having previously set up
their Twitter account. Should this not happen then the user must simply enter their
Twitter login details to access this area when prompted to do so.

Step 5

The user will then be directed to this screen where they should click on the
“Download now, it’s free” button. This will automatically begin the download
process, as shown in Step 6 below.
Step 6

Step 7

The user is shown a box which will allow 3 options, “Open” “Save” and “Cancel”. The
user should save the file to a location of their choosing on the computer on which
they are operating. Following this the user must return to this location and open the
file from there. They will then be shown the screen in Step 8, below.
Step 8

From the screen above the user may combine many different Social Networks, as
highlighted, and update and view them all from this one application. The user may
add accounts and choose which to activate and update using the easy to follow
guides on the application, as highlighted.
Step 1 – Creating a FREE profile

                                      Facebook Guide

Creating a profile in only 6 steps:

   1. Type “First Name”
   2. Type “Last Name”
   3. Type “Email” – This must be an email you use regularly
   4. Create a “New Password” – It may help to use the password from your email
      account
   5. Select Gender
   6. Select Date of Birth – You can choose whether you want your Date of Birth on
      your profile page or not.

Alternatively create a fan page for businesses
A Facebook Page is a customizable presence for an organization, product, or public
personality to join the conversation with Facebook users. The Page focuses on the
stream of content posted by the Page administrators. By leveraging the real
connections between friends on Facebook, a Page lets Fans become brand
advocates.

Posts by the Page will start to appear in News Feed, giving Pages a stronger voice to
reach their Fans. In addition, Pages now have the flexibility of multiple
customizable tabs previously exclusive to user profiles.

Step 2 - Choosing your Facebook profile, fan page, business page.

Official Page Communicate with your customers and fans by creating and
maintaining an official Facebook Page.

Community Page Generate support for your favourite cause or topic by creating
a community Page. If it becomes very popular (attracting thousands of fans), it will
be adopted and maintained by the Facebook community.

Create a group Communicate directly with other Facebook members who share
a professional interest or hobby.
When you create your Page, you must select a permanent name and category. Thereafter,
most of the settings and features you choose for your Page can be revised at any time—
including your profile picture, which is the first thing to add.
Measuring Engagement and Interaction

The Facebook Pages Insights tool will include new data on Fans’ engagement with posts
from your Page. You’ll be able to see how many comments Fans make on your posts, and
you’ll also be able to track how many Facebook users start and stop viewing your posts in
 News Feed.

This application allows you to see the demographics of people you “Like” your page. This
allows you to tailor your content and RSS feeds to gauge their interests too. Check this at
least once a week to keep up to date with your target markets trends.
Create a Facebook badge for your website

This badge can be posted to your website as either a static image or flash player. It’s your
choice….and it’s free!

Facebook has already made several of its core Facebook Page applications available for
tabs, including Events, Reviews and Discussions. If the functionality you want for your
Facebook Page isn’t yet available via an existing application; you can build your own!

Third party developers can also use tabs. Since each tab has its own URL, you can choose
any of them as the landing Page for your Facebook Ads and off-site promotion. You can also
choose which tab to set as the default when users who aren’t yet Fans organically navigate
to your Facebook Page from within Facebook.
Product Specifications

The applications you can choose for your Boxes tab include:

Discussion Boards: Users can discuss your products, promotions, and more. This
application is available as a full tab.

Video: You can upload an unlimited number of videos to your Facebook Page. You can
choose whether or not to allow Fans to upload their own videos. This application is
available as a full tab. Facebook supports high definition video and audio. Please target
your video to have the highest image quality possible while still under the 1GB limit.

Acceptable Formats—
.mpe (MPEG Video)
.vob (DVD Video)
.3gp (Mobile Video)
.mpeg (MPEG Video)
.wmv (Windows Media Video
.3gpp (Mobile Video)

upload their own photos. This application is available as a full tab.

Events: Inform Fans of movie premieres, in-store sales, concert dates and more by posting
an event. Once a user RSVPs, it will be added to her calendar, and her friends may see the
event in News Feed. This application is available as a full tab.

Static FBML: FBML, Facebook’s version of HTML, lets you customize a rich, interactive
experience. You can add as many as 10 FMBL modules to the Boxes and “Wall” tab of your
Page (up to four on the Wall tab). The Static FBML application is also available as a full tab,
where you can embed Flash animations. The FBML tab can be as wide as 760-pixels and has
no restrictions on height.

Reviews: Users can write a one- to five-star review. This application is available as a full
tab.

Other Platform applications: There are thousands of Facebook Platform applications built
by 3rd party developers available for use on your Facebook Page. Over time, more and
more of these will be available as full tabs for your Page.
Controlling how you share

Facebook is about sharing. Our privacy controls give you the power to decide what
and how much you share. Learn how to manage who can see your information on
          and off Facebook.

          Privacy controls

The settings you choose control which people and applications can see your
information. You can share your information with friends, friends of friends or
everyone, and we offer presets to help you do that. Or, if you prefer, you can
          customize your settings.
