• The beginning of the trailer uses
a lot of fading transferring from
one to shot to another. This
creates a dramatic effect as it
slowly eases into each shot,
giving more emphasis as each
shot arrives. The audience is
immediately grabbed as they
want to know what shot is next Fades from
behind the fade. However this this shot to
transition gradually changes this shot
moving to straight cuts which
heightens the drama and the
tension as the action scenes are
shown. Furthermore although
this is a fairytale theme, the pace
of the shots help to change its
innocence to something dark and
tragic.

Graphics are used continuously throughout
the trailer providing the audience with
relevant information regarding the film. The
font used is consistent and has a fairytale
effect with the use of the silver writing
which correlates to the theme of fairytales
as they are about magic. However the black
background creates a dark and dangerous
effect which turns the innocence of the
magic in a fairytale to something evil and
horrific. The name of the film is finally
introduced at the end of the trailer; this has
purposely been done to enhance the
audience’s expectations. They are only then
shown the name of the film once they have
seen what it has to offer which means that
the name of the film will stick with them
making them want to watch the film.

4. The use of single words such as “Evil”
and “Fights” creates a dramatic effect
to the trailer as it highlights the action
within the film drawing the audience
in. As well as this it acts as a pause in
the trailer where the audience are
waiting for the next shot increasing
the suspense and heightening the
tension. For example the shot that
follows the word “Fights” is a scene
that shows a war. Therefore as the
trailer proceeds there is a pattern that
is noticed as each shot that follows the
word links back to it. This shot is a
medium shot of a battle however the
shot focuses specifically on two
soldiers fighting which allows the
audience to identify the weapons used
locating the time period and the
armour worn which also located the
time period. The use of heavy armour
such as shields and body suits suggests
that the film is set in the past.

the mirror is of a higher status as it dressed
in gold which is worth more than silver.
Therefore it immediately indicates that the
Queen is seeking help from the mirror and
could also suggest that the mirror has control
over the Queen.
The transition used after this show is a fade which is quite symbolic as between the Queen
and the mirror we see an establishing shot that features Snow White. This is symbolic
because it almost shows a barrier between the Queen and the mirror representing the fact
the Snow White is the barrier for the Queen to fulfil the want to be “the fairest of them all”.

7. Mise-En-Scene
This low angle shot enables the audience
to see a castle. The castle gives the film a
time period and also location suggesting
that the film has not been modernised
from the original fairytale.
These two pictures show the different
costumes within the film but also show
the different status’. For example the
Queen is wearing a gold ground and
dress suggesting she is of importance
and is worth a lot. Whereas the
Huntsman is wearing dark colours such
as brown suggesting he is of a lower
status and doesn’t have as much
money as the Queen.
