2. Once Upon a Time
There was the birth of a beautiful princess; and a beautiful
christening where her 7 fairy godmothers offered many gifts
such as beauty, wit, and musical talent...

3. The Curse
A gift of her wicked fairy godmother was, upon reaching adulthood; she
would prick her finger on the spindle of the spinning wheel, and fall into
a deep sleep for 100 years. Her father, the king, forbade any spindles in
the kingdom. But the princess at 16, was lured into a castle by the
wicked fairy godmother in disguise and ultimately the curse was
fulfilled...

4. After a 100 years...
a prince heard of the story and came to her rescue. He kissed the princess
and everyone in the castle woke up...
And they lived happily ever after...

5. A brief history...
The earliest printed version, dating from the 1620s, had more in common with Greek mythology
than with modern versions of today.
Sleeping Beauty evolved from folklore in the 1600s, to ballet and musical compositions in the
1800s. The Grimm’s wrote "Briar rose" for their own collection of tales, in 1812.
Each culture has it’s own rendition of Sleeping Beauty, all depicting the universal theme of the
protagonist and antagonist story. Sleeping beauty provides morals for little ones growing up,
and with each culture, the morals change the story slightly...

6. A modern twist...
Sleeping Beauty has changed and adapted with Technology in ways the original authors never
imagined...
Disney’s animated feature of Sleeping Beauty circa 1959, was based on The Grimm's tale of
1812, and is still admired today.
Sleeping Beauty was used as a theme in "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link", a sleeping curse is put
on Princess Zelda by the evil wizard and a prince must awake the princess in order to win the
game.
Mattel in 2009 produced Barbie as Sleeping Beauty, and more recently as themes in another
Disney’s movie, enchanted...

7. Changes to the story...
in some early versions the princess had a different fate, In fact Underlying themes of abuse have
always surrounded the story. this important detail was lost around the time of the Grimm
rendition, it is said another version of Sleeping Beauty portrayed a much different ending.
When the prince kissed his beauty and brought back to life the castle, he possibly sealed not
only her fate but restored her innocence when parts of the story were left to history...

8. Sleeping Beauty best story ever
or an outdated folklore?
Sleeping beauty is one of my favorite stories because it shows life can
present unavoidable risks, And sometimes we take those risks in the
name of love.
Even with technology the essence of the original story of sleeping
Beauty has remained the same.
Sleeping Beauty has survived the test of time, with a few changes it has
risked everything to remain a much loved story that has passed down
through the ages...
