Universcity: Towards a Holistic Approach to Educational Virtual City DesignMikhail Fominykh
In this paper, we seek to develop a holistic approach to educational virtual cities, introducing a concept of ‘Universcity’ as a framework for a wide range of social, cultural and educational activities, a city for students, researchers and other learners to live and work in. The metaphor of a city is widely used in the design of virtual worlds. However, a systematic approach to learning support in virtual cities is not fully developed yet. To fill the gap, we consider a city as a place for lifelong learning, with a broad spectrum of disciplines and areas of knowledge. We have investigated these aspects in the implementation of two projects where virtual reality was used for the contextualization of educational activities. Based on the experiences from these projects and related work, we propose an initial design of ‘Universcity’.

National Historical Museums is a government agency which includes the Swedish History Museum and the Royal Coin Cabinet plus the museum operations at Tumba Papermill Museum. The agency also performs archaeology services.
The coin collection can trace its roots back to 1572 when Rasmus Ludvigsson, a secretary to the King Johan III started a collection of old Swedish coins.
From the start, there has always been a need to somehow keep track of the collection. In the early days using quill pen and paper, then gradually moving into more modern technology.
In the 1990s parts of the collection information became digital. Today the Swedish History Museum and the Royal Coin Cabinet use different solutions for the collections management and are ready to take the next step by moving in to Adlib. Our expectations are to enhance our work processes even more and reach out globally.

Europeana constructed a Publishing Framework (video) together with its contributing cultural heritage institutions to be more explicit about the possible returns of opening up data and delivering better quality. This framework has been translated and implemented across Europe to help institutions understand the benefits of being able to open up their data. A couple of case studies from the museum, archive and library world will used to illustrate the results of adopting a more open approach, covering both the positive and the negative.

Feminism, Multiculturalism and Virtual Communities

ABSTRACT
he most important task before virtual communities committed to promote multicultural ethos with emphasis
on gender justice is to make social and cultural interventions before employing virtual learning environment
for learning and knowledge sharing. Feminist movements has played pivotal role in reaching out to millions
of women from 4 generations by creating virtual communities. Knowledge sharing in a multicultural virtual
(online) learning community has a democratizing influence on individuals and groups of all generations who
are digitally connected. Communication on Plural lifestyles-food habits, dress codes; ideological moorings,
historical and cultural legacies, inter-generational dialogues, best practices, role models of different fields
and of different regions not only broaden our horizons but also prepare us to respect plural lifestyles. It also
has humbling effect as we start appreciating plus points of people from other cultures. Stereotypes and
myths based on ignorance, lack of knowledge about fellow human beings generate ‘fear of the unknown’
syndrome. Virtual communities can play crucial role in combating xenophobia, misogyny and intolerance
towards the ‘other’. Three building blocks of virtual communications on WhatsApp Groups, google/yahoo
groups and other social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Istagram that contribute to transformatory

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
