This document describes a smart system developed to maintain the environment of an aquascape using internet of things technology. The system controls light intensity and temperature, which are important factors for plant growth. An ESP32 microcontroller senses light levels with a BH1750 light sensor and temperature with a DS18B20 sensor. It controls a LED lamp and heater/fan to regulate light and temperature based on user input through a mobile app. Testing showed the light output was accurate to within 4% of the target value on average. The system also maintained temperature within 0.4°C of the set point by turning the heater and fan on/off as needed. The developed smart system can effectively control the aquascape environment for
