Smart Goals: Short Term
S: Who?: Myself and other LinkedIn members.
What?: Build at least 30 more connectionson LinkedIn.
Where?: www.LinkedIn.com
Why?: Building more connections will broaden my knowledge on networking and can open
opportunities in the future.
Which?: In orderto receive more connections, I need to first improve my profile.Improving the
profilewill lead moreusers to notice my profile.The application has a feature where you can see who
visited yourpage. Once I see who visited, I will connect and get in contact with them whatever their
profession is. You never know who you’ll need in the future.
M: How I can track my connection is setting up notifications on LinkedIn. Once I get a new
connection, the app will automatically notify my phoneto see who wants to interact with me. I will
check every day, and make sure my responserate is always at 100%. I can keep track with my count by
tallying how many I have each day. That way, I can measure when I will reach my goal.
A: This goal is easily reachable. I would first lookat my otherconnections’ friendslist. This will give
me easy access to who to connect with and what industry they’re affiliated with. Once this happens, I
can have them as a reliable connection.
R: This goal is worthwhile fornot only myself but formy career. Networking is very important to
yourpersonal brand. Having these connections will help me with Full Sail activities and any question I
have about the entertainment industry. So far, I have builtconnections with professionalswho have
worked on movies like GetOut and Insidious.
T: I will completethis goal by the start of my Portfolio II class. Completing this short goal is going
to be, personally,easy. Researching and digging to find that one person who links to the business you
want to pursueis very satisfying.
Tactic 1: Look up specific job titles on LinkedIn. Tactic 2: Compile a small list of notes so you
can attach it to your invitation.
Smart Goals: Medium Term
S: Who?: Myself.
What?: Work orvolunteerat another music festival, specifically Rolling Loud.
Where?: Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.
Why?: Working at a majormusic festival will not onlygive me a chance to connect with up and
coming trap artists, but also gaining experience around festival goers.
Which?: In orderto work at Rolling Loud,you need to fill outan application on their website for
any position you desire. I’m focused more on the Box Office or Backstage help. You also need to get in
contact with the festival plannersto ask if I can volunteer.
M: I’m not surehow to track my progressbut, hopefully,theoutcome would be earning experience
in another festival. I will know my goal is accomplished once my tired body is back fromMiami, and
have many more connections than I did before. I will also know when important mogulsstart getting in
contact with me.
A: I feel like this goal is reasonable dueto having past experience in working at festivals. In my
second month at Full Sail, I gota chance to work at Electric Daisy Carnival: Orlando. Working at the Box
Office taught me how to correctly distribute wristbands and interact with employees.
R: This goal is very worthwhile due to the experience. Not many peopleget to have the chance to
work major festivals, especially as a student. I have worked long hourswith sometimes no meals. This
will show my fellowcolleagues my dedication to the event.
T: I will completethis step by the end of December 2018. I chose this date because it ringsin the
new year. I have no idea what I will accomplish in 2019, but I hope to end it by experiencing Rolling Loud
will top the cake.
Tactic 1: Get in contact with Rolling Loud organizers and see if there is a job opportunity, if
not then volunteer.
Tactic 2: Figure out transportation and living situation before the festival begins.
Smart Goals: Long Term
S: Who?: Myself and local tour managers in the Orlando area.
What?: Help manage a show at a local Orlando venue.
Where?: Local Orlando venues like Blackstar and The Plaza Live.
Why?: Being mentored and taught by an experienced managerwill give me insight into the
music business.
Which?: In orderto manage a local show, I need to research on local tourmanagers in Orlando.
Using network sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, I hopeto direct message oremail a manager
expressing why they should mentorme.
M: I can track my progressbywriting down everything I learned from the mentor. This will give me
something to lookback on. Another way is checking the social sites every day. You have to make sure
you’re actively checking emails and direct messages. This will show yourmentor that you’re responsible
and always aware. Once the event is packed and goessmoothly, is when I’ll know if I accomplished my
goal.
A: I believe this goal is reachable. I have read multiple articles on how up and coming tour
managers started by just reaching outto local managers. They connected and interviewed these
mentors to build their network and help them with any questions aboutmanaging.
R: This goal is very important to me. Once I connect with this manager, I will do whatever it takes
to keep the mentorship. It’s rare forother tourmanagers to share their insight in the business. Even
being in consideration is an honor.You have to be humbleand most importantly, be yourself.If the
goal wasn’t reachable, I would try and reach out to teachers on campus forhelp.
T: How I can track my connection is set up notifications on LinkedIn.Once I get a new connection,
the app will automatically notify my phoneto see who wants to interact with me. I will check every day,
and make sure my responserate is always at 100%. I will complete this goal the summerafter
graduation.
Tactic 1: Get in contact with some local managers in Orlando by asking around. Tactic 2: Make
sure you have professional attire and a good online presence before meeting the manager.

SMART GOALS

  • 1. Smart Goals: Short Term S: Who?: Myself and other LinkedIn members. What?: Build at least 30 more connectionson LinkedIn. Where?: www.LinkedIn.com Why?: Building more connections will broaden my knowledge on networking and can open opportunities in the future. Which?: In orderto receive more connections, I need to first improve my profile.Improving the profilewill lead moreusers to notice my profile.The application has a feature where you can see who visited yourpage. Once I see who visited, I will connect and get in contact with them whatever their profession is. You never know who you’ll need in the future. M: How I can track my connection is setting up notifications on LinkedIn. Once I get a new connection, the app will automatically notify my phoneto see who wants to interact with me. I will check every day, and make sure my responserate is always at 100%. I can keep track with my count by tallying how many I have each day. That way, I can measure when I will reach my goal. A: This goal is easily reachable. I would first lookat my otherconnections’ friendslist. This will give me easy access to who to connect with and what industry they’re affiliated with. Once this happens, I can have them as a reliable connection. R: This goal is worthwhile fornot only myself but formy career. Networking is very important to yourpersonal brand. Having these connections will help me with Full Sail activities and any question I have about the entertainment industry. So far, I have builtconnections with professionalswho have worked on movies like GetOut and Insidious. T: I will completethis goal by the start of my Portfolio II class. Completing this short goal is going to be, personally,easy. Researching and digging to find that one person who links to the business you want to pursueis very satisfying. Tactic 1: Look up specific job titles on LinkedIn. Tactic 2: Compile a small list of notes so you can attach it to your invitation.
  • 2. Smart Goals: Medium Term S: Who?: Myself. What?: Work orvolunteerat another music festival, specifically Rolling Loud. Where?: Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. Why?: Working at a majormusic festival will not onlygive me a chance to connect with up and coming trap artists, but also gaining experience around festival goers. Which?: In orderto work at Rolling Loud,you need to fill outan application on their website for any position you desire. I’m focused more on the Box Office or Backstage help. You also need to get in contact with the festival plannersto ask if I can volunteer. M: I’m not surehow to track my progressbut, hopefully,theoutcome would be earning experience in another festival. I will know my goal is accomplished once my tired body is back fromMiami, and have many more connections than I did before. I will also know when important mogulsstart getting in contact with me. A: I feel like this goal is reasonable dueto having past experience in working at festivals. In my second month at Full Sail, I gota chance to work at Electric Daisy Carnival: Orlando. Working at the Box Office taught me how to correctly distribute wristbands and interact with employees. R: This goal is very worthwhile due to the experience. Not many peopleget to have the chance to work major festivals, especially as a student. I have worked long hourswith sometimes no meals. This will show my fellowcolleagues my dedication to the event. T: I will completethis step by the end of December 2018. I chose this date because it ringsin the new year. I have no idea what I will accomplish in 2019, but I hope to end it by experiencing Rolling Loud will top the cake. Tactic 1: Get in contact with Rolling Loud organizers and see if there is a job opportunity, if not then volunteer. Tactic 2: Figure out transportation and living situation before the festival begins.
  • 3. Smart Goals: Long Term S: Who?: Myself and local tour managers in the Orlando area. What?: Help manage a show at a local Orlando venue. Where?: Local Orlando venues like Blackstar and The Plaza Live. Why?: Being mentored and taught by an experienced managerwill give me insight into the music business. Which?: In orderto manage a local show, I need to research on local tourmanagers in Orlando. Using network sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, I hopeto direct message oremail a manager expressing why they should mentorme. M: I can track my progressbywriting down everything I learned from the mentor. This will give me something to lookback on. Another way is checking the social sites every day. You have to make sure you’re actively checking emails and direct messages. This will show yourmentor that you’re responsible and always aware. Once the event is packed and goessmoothly, is when I’ll know if I accomplished my goal. A: I believe this goal is reachable. I have read multiple articles on how up and coming tour managers started by just reaching outto local managers. They connected and interviewed these mentors to build their network and help them with any questions aboutmanaging. R: This goal is very important to me. Once I connect with this manager, I will do whatever it takes to keep the mentorship. It’s rare forother tourmanagers to share their insight in the business. Even being in consideration is an honor.You have to be humbleand most importantly, be yourself.If the goal wasn’t reachable, I would try and reach out to teachers on campus forhelp. T: How I can track my connection is set up notifications on LinkedIn.Once I get a new connection, the app will automatically notify my phoneto see who wants to interact with me. I will check every day, and make sure my responserate is always at 100%. I will complete this goal the summerafter graduation. Tactic 1: Get in contact with some local managers in Orlando by asking around. Tactic 2: Make sure you have professional attire and a good online presence before meeting the manager.
