This document summarizes an empirical study conducted at De La Salle University that examined the effect of background music on college students' academic performance. The study used a sample of 35 random college students and collected data on their cumulative GPA, gender, time spent listening to music per week, time spent studying per week, and preference for pop music genres. Regression analysis was used to analyze the data and test for relationships between the variables. The results found that time spent listening to music per week and preference for pop music genres had a significant effect on students' academic performance. The study concluded with recommendations to expand the analysis to include additional variables and focus sampling within one educational institution.
