3. Introduction:
Satellite is an option for carrying Internet and
other IP traffic to many location across the
globe.
The Sky X technology has replaced TCP over
satellite link with protocol optimized.
Adding Sky X system to the satellite network
,allows user to take full advantages of the
available bandwidth.
4. Conti.To Introduction
The Sky X increases the web performance by 3
times or more and file transfer speeds by 10 to
100 times.
The Sky X solution is entirely transparent to end
user.
The Sky X family consists of Sky X Gateway,
Sky X Client and Sky X Server and the Sky X
OEM products.
5. Why Sky X technology?
Satellites are ideal for providing Internet and
private network access over a long distance and
to remote location.
6. Performance of TCP over satellite
Communication over geosynchronous satellites,
orbiting at an altitude of 22,300 miles has round
trip times of approximately 540 m/s.
The journey through the atmosphere can introduce
bit errors into the data stream.
These factors, combined with backchannel
bandwidth typically much smaller than that
available on the forward channel, reduce the
effectiveness of TCP which is optimized for short
hops over low-loss cables or fiber.
7. Continue.
TCP is designed for efficiency and high performance
,and optimized for maximum throughput and the
highest transaction speeds in local networks.
The satellite conditions adversely interact with a
number of elements of the TCP architecture.
Including:
window sizing,
congestion avoidance algorithms, and
data acknowledgment mechanisms.
8. Sky X Gateway
The Sky X gateway works by transparently replacing
TCP connections from the client and converting the
data to Xpress Transport protocol (XTP) for the hop
over the satellite link which is the protocol optimized
for satellite conditions.
The Sky X gateway on the opposite side of the
satellite link translates the data back to TCP for
communication with the server.
No changes are required to the client or server and all
applications continue to function without
modification.
10. Continue..
XTP is transport layer protocol design to operate over
high speed network and provides high level performance
to the End-Users.
11. Comparison B/W TCP and Sky X

12. Advantage of XTP
XTP provides all the functionality of TCP and UDP.
XTP supports a reliable transport multicast capability.
XTP's design scales from LANs to MANs to WANs
without alteration .
The XTP protocol also supports the TCP congestion
avoidance algorithm to keep the terrestrial network
stable and protected.
13. Application
Used for Satellite communication.
Used to access web in faster speed.
Used to enhanced the data transfer and file
transfer speed.
Provide better reliability.
14. Merits
Increase Web performance 3 time faster.
Does not requires any modification to end
client and server.
Sky X Gateway provides fast ,efficient, fully
reliable multicast file transfers.
15. Conclusion.
Sky X technology is best suited for Satellite
communication using XTP and Sky x Gateway.
Sky X system of satellite network allows user
to take full advantage of available bandwidth.
It gives all features required for successful data
transmission.
