INTRODUCTION
• SkyX is a new technology whichovercome some restrictionin the
networks.
 Satellites are ideal for providing internetand privatenetworkaccessover
long distance and to remote locations.
 However the internet protocolsare not optimized for satelliteconditions
and consequently the throughput over the satellite networks is restricted
to only a fractionof available bandwidth. We can over come these
restrictions by using the SkyX protocol
6/23/2015 ankur 3
 Adding the Sky X systemto a satellite networkallows users to take full
advantage of the availablebandwidth.
 The SkyX Gateway transparently enhances the performance of all users
on a satellite networkwithout any modifications to theend clients and
servers.
 The SkyX Client and the SkyX Server enhance theperformance of data
transmissions over satellites directlyto end userPC's, thereby
increasing Web performance by 3 times or more and file transfer speeds
by 10 to 100 times.

Why sky x Technology ?
 Internet protocols(TCP/IP) are not optimizedfor satellite conditions so
the throughput over the satellite networks decreases to only a fraction of
availablebandwidth.
Satellites are ideal for providing internet& privatenetwork over long
distance.
the satellite conditions adversely interact with a number of elements of
the TCP architecture, including it’s windowsizing, congestion avoidance
algorithms & data acknowledgmentmechanisms.
6/23/2015 ankur 5
Why Sky X technology (continues)
 Thus the advantages achieved by TCP in LAN's are no longer
effective in the satellite link. So it wasdesirableto design a
separate protocol for communication throughthe satellite to
eliminate the disadvantages of using TCP oversatellite
Thus We need sky x technology.
6/23/2015 ankur 6
Sky X Client/Server
 The Sky X Client / Server increases the throughput and efficiency
of network access over satellites by transparently replacing TCP
withthe Xpress Transport Protocol (XTP) for the satellite
segment of the connection.
 The sky X client/server systemenhances the performance of the
internet and private network access over satellitelinks.
6/23/2015 7
Sky X Client / Sky X Server
Operation
 The Sky X Client, installed on Microsoft Windows-based
computers, transparently intercepts TCP connections from
applications running on the PC and transmits the data over the
satellite link using XTP.
 Sky X Server, installedat the hub of the satellite network,
establishes a newTCP connection for communication withany
device on the local network or over the Internet.
6/23/2015 8
continue…..
 The Sky X Gateway intercepts TCP connections fromthe sender
and converts the data to the Sky X Protocol for transmission
over the satellite.
 The Sky X Gateway on the opposite side of the satellitelink
translates the data back to TCP for communication withthe
receivers.

WORKING
Sky X productsdo combinations of connection-splitting & data
compression.
The Sky X systemdelivers the Web objects to the Sky X gateway
on the client side of the satellite link where they can be served
locally when requested by the browser, avoiding the satellite
delay.
components: 1. XTP
2. X-Gateway
6/23/2015 ankur 11
Xpress Transport Protocol (XTP) is a transport layer
protocol for high-speednetworks promotedby the XTP
Forumdevelopedto replace TCP.
 XTP provides protocol options for error control, flow
control, and multicast mode. Insteadof separate
protocols for each type of communication, XTP controls
packet exchange patterns to produce different models.
6/23/2015 ankur 12
Characteristics of XTP
Error control
Flow control
Byte ordering
Multicast mode
Multi packet handshaking
6/23/2015 ankur 13
Sky X gateway
The Sky X gateways works by replacingTCP connections from
the client & converting the data to Xpress Transport protocol
(XTP).
Translates the data back to TCP for communication withthe
server. This architecture offers vastlyimproved performance
while remaining entirely transparent to the end user and fully
compactablewiththe internet infrastructure.
No changes are required to the client or server and all
applications continue to function without modification.

Sky X merits
SkyX systemallows users to take full advantageof the available
bandwidth.
Transparently enhances the performance of all users on a satellite
network & increases web performanceby 3 times or more & file transfer
speeds by 10 to 100 times.
 Entirelytransparentto end users, works withall TCPapplications & does
not require any modifications to end client & servers.
Increase the performance of IP over satellite through a combination of
protocol connection-splitting, data compression.
6/23/2015 15
Future Enhancement
XipLink developedby xiplink incorporation which is
under development will enhance the Sky X more.
The sky x technology is capable of handling bulk of
data which will be there in future as we are now talking
about
1. Smarter planet.
2.Infomation super highway
6/23/2015 16
Conclusion
Developed just to solve the problems faced by
TCP/IP in satellite communication but it’s
enhanced form that is XipLink will be the need in
concepts of information super highway & smarter
planet like things.
