How to Extend Availability to the Application Layer Across the Hybrid Cloud -...Veritas Technologies LLC
We are experiencing IT climate change. Inundated we are, daily, with a barrage of “Cloud-ready” solutions that promise to transform, supercharge or in some other way substantial improve your business. Truth is, we’ve all seen this movie before and there is no ending, only a story arch. Technologies come and go and our ability to maximize the return on these solutions is what we makes for a successful adoption. Ask yourself, with all of the promise of the public cloud, how much is hype vs. reality. More details in the presentation.

Is Software Defined Storage (SDS) getting hijacked? It seems every vendor, old and new, is claiming that their storage is “software defined”. The original intent was to create software-only solutions that could be deployed on the customer’s choice of servers. But that original intent has evolved, and now hardware vendors are providing what they claim to be software defined storage solutions too. In addition, SDS is being combined with an embedded compute function to create hyper-converged solutions as well.
In this webinar we will discuss the differences in these approaches and you will learn what the four key deliverables of a SDS solution should be so you can decide which makes the most sense for your organization.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
High performance Serverless Java on AWS- GoTo Amsterdam 2024Vadym Kazulkin

This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.

3. SkyTechnology “Above the cloud” Data Storage Industry Problems The expense and hassle of “Rip & Replace” style upgrades Moving a network to the latest technology can create an unnecessary burden for organizations, forcing them to literally “rip & replace” perfectly good storage infrastructure simply because it is a legacy connection. Raidundant has patented a flexible and interchangeable technology that allows users to upgrade their storage with ease in an affordable and simple way so businesses can stay on the cutting edge of today’s technology. Transferring data quickly and securely As file sizes continue to expand, network speeds continue to slow thanks to the large amount of data passing through individual networks. Large file transfer and backup can force all network activity to a crawl if not crash entirely. With Sky Technology, Raidundant has designed a way to alleviate the pain of data migration and backup speeds without having to purchase more expensive network bandwidth. Storage capacity and expansion limitations Legacy storage systems have limits in both their storage infrastructure as well as management. Raidundant Sky Technology has been developed without limits and allows clients to expand limitlessly, at their own pace. Sky Technology also works seamlessly within multi-vendor environments and has the ability of managing the entire storage network from a single command center. Raidundant SkySAN Solves Problems. Raidundant’s Sky Technology (aka SkySAN) is a feature rich, flexible and highly expandable storage solution that solves several key pain points in the storage industry today. While legacy manufactures address each problem separately, forcing users to purchase multiple systems to solve multiple problems, Raidundant has combined an interchangeable hardware design with an intuitive and limitless management software making SkySAN the affordable, flexible and expandable resolution.
