This document summarizes Marcus Macksoud's process for designing a skills development journal. It shows initial masthead designs, the final masthead used, and adjustments made to images on the front cover and contents page like using spot healing and levels tools. It also previews layouts for the double page spread where part of the background image was copied and stretched to look like the full image. The goal was to create a cohesive magazine design using effects like bevel and emboss as well as tools to manipulate photos.

2. FRONT COVER
These are initial masthead ideas that I
designed using the help of
DaFont.com. I wanted to create a
square/block style masthead.

out.

I have used the rectangle shape tool for the
background to the skyline and by-line.
This is my finished magazine front cover, I have arranged
the layers to make the models head go over the masthead
using the polygonal lasso tool.

was very plain and I couldn’t fit any

small version of the masthead
to keep with popular magazine
conventions.

Using the rectangular marquee tool,
I copied a small chunk of the
background image and stretched it
across the screen to make it look like
the whole image, without stretching
the models appearance and make it
look more professional.
