• Hot and cold therapy is one of the
best methods to relieve any kind of
  pains.
• Historically, heat has been a
natural remedy used both to relieve
  pain and enhance the recovery
                                            Background
  process. By increasing the
temperature of the skin surface and of the
  underlying tissues, heat stimulates the
thermo receptors – sensory receptors Study!
that respond to heat and cold – which
then help block transmissions of pain
signals to the brain. This translates
  into a significant decrease of
  discomfort.
• The general objective of the
  study is to give information
to others on how a heat can
  be stored and produced; to
  give information about the
  characteristic of Sodium
  Acetate and how it store
  heat. The objective of this
project is to make our own
heating pad to be able to
  save money.

                   Objectives
• The super cooling phenomenon
intrigued us because of its ability to
store heat for long periods of time
and release it when desired. And
  importantly, this research will
  educate the people in promoting
  business in the community. Lastly,
this project can be very convenient
  for those people who always
  experience pain due to the
  different daily activities that they
  exercise.

Observation the researchers poured the vinegar in
         • When
the baking soda the solution started to make
               bubbles.
             • A chemical reaction took place while are
doing the said experiment. The researchers
have knowledge this because a gas was
created. We know a gas was created
because foam was formed as soon as you
added the baking soda and vinegar together.
We also know that a chemical reaction
happened because a solid was formed after
               the solution was heated.
             • The researchers also observed that while we
are mixing the vinegar and baking soda, the
solution began to react and crystallization
               already took place.
Enhancement
      • Since our group observed that the
        crystallization of the main product
        has not been completed. The
        researchers decided that in our
        second try in doing our experiment;
we will make sure that we will add
more baking soda and vinegar so that
        the process will be completed.
• Natron(alternative for baking soda)
• Natron is a naturally occurring mixture of
sodium carbonate decahydrate (Na2CO3·10H2O, a kind of
soda ash) and about 17% sodium bicarbonate (also
called nahcolite or baking soda, NaHCO3) along with
small quantities of sodium chloride and sodium
sulfate. Natron is white to colourless when pure,
varying to gray or yellow with impurities. Natron
deposits are sometimes found in saline lake beds
which arose in arid environments. Throughout history
natron has had many practical applications which
continue in the wide range of modern uses of its
  constituent mineral components.
• In modern mineralogy the term natron has come to
  mean only the sodium carbonate
decahydrate (hydrated soda ash) which makes up
  most of the historical salt.(Wikipedia,2010)

Summary
• After finishing a series of experiments, the
  researchers therefore conclude that
vinegar and baking soda are very effective
substitutes for home made hot and cold
packs. The researchers also learned that
our project is as effective as the
commercialized packs that can be bought
from the leading drugstores in our
country. In connection with our research,
this project can help mostly of our
fellowmen that is in the field of
  construction and agriculture who doesn’t
have enough money to buy fast remedies
for their muscle pains and injuries.
Insights
• The researchers learned that using
vinegar and baking soda as a substitute
to the usual materials that is used in
making hot/cold packs can be very
effective in a way that there is no
change in its quality and effectiveness.
The researcher’s also learned that the
product that we adapted is a very
helpful remedy for most of the people
that is in the field of sports and
recreation because they don’t have to
  buy the expensive not-so-effective
  commercial product to cure their
  injuries.
Recommendation
      • The following are the recommendation that
you can do with the project:
      • The product can surely help the Filipino
household. You can use the product in
terms of home based purpose; it can serve
as a part of your first aid kit.
      • It can also be used as a quick remedy for
        tooth ache and head aches.
      • The researchers highly recommend this as
        for medical purpose only.
      • The researchers also recommend this
product to be sold in a very low price since
the materials used in this project is very
much cheaper than the usual sodium
        acetate.
