Three years ago, Anurag’s age was thrice that of
Bhragav.
Two years hence Anurag’s age will be twice that of
Bharagav.
What is the present age of Anurag?
1) 16 2) 18 3) 20 4) 22
x – 3 = 3(y – 3) (1)
(x + 2 ) = 2(y + 2) (2)
x – 3y = – 6
x – 2y = 2
Hence – y = – 8  y = 8.
X = 18.

Four years hence, the age of Goutam will be thrice
that of Girija.
What is the present age of Goutam?

x + 4 = 3 ( y + 4) (2)
Using (1) in (2)
4y + 4 = 3y + 12
Y = 8
Hence x = 32
