Here is a shot from a pervious country
pop music video I looked at. This shot
shows how we have followed the
conventions of our genre by having
direct lighting on the artist’s face. From
here we are clearly able to see how she
feels about the lyrics she’s singing.
We challenged the
conventions by using filters
to make the lighting much
less harsh than that used in
Miley’s video.

Like Taylor we made the decision to use
soft direct lighting whilst filming the
performance shots for our video, this
shows how we followed the conventions
of our genre.

Supporting the iconography theories of
Edward Buscumbe, the use of props here
clearly determine the genre of our video.
This shows how we matched the
conventions of a real media product.

This shows how we followed
conventions through editing. Adjusting
some narrative shots to greyscale to
represent the past as seen her in the
video for Taylor Swift single, Teardrops
on my Guitar.
W developed this further
by adding a Gaussian blur
effect to the shot, working
with the colour effect, to
make feel like a distant
memory.

We chose a costume very similar to the
dress Taylor wears in the narrative for
Teardrops on my Guitar. The green colour
has connotations of nature, therefore
suggesting a sense of innocence around
her character.
We continued to develop
this idea by allowing our
protagonist Jade, to be
portrayed as natural and
bubbly throughout our
campaign

We followed the
conventions of our genre
by using a bed room
location as the setting for
one of our narrative shots,
as seen here in Taylors
video.
In this section of the
video, the protagonist,
Taylor, is upset. We
have developed this
idea by using a close
up to show the
characters sad
expression.

As our lyrics are based
on a relationship
between a male and
female character. We
developed this by
having only two main
characters in our video.
I researched into
videos with similar
storylines such as
Begin Again by Taylor
Swift.

Here, Taylors lips are the only
red we see in the shot, we
developed this concept in our
product my making our artists
lip the main source of colour
in the performance shots.
Like Taylor, we wanted to
play with the idea of
innocence and purity.
Aside from the
performers lips, she is in
little to know make-up
following the conventions
of most Taylor Swift music
videos.
