The sermon discusses the presentation of Jesus in the temple as described in Luke 2:22-38. It notes that Mary and Joseph marveled at the good news they received about Jesus. However, Simeon then revealed that the good news would also be bad news for some, as Jesus' coming would cause division. Anna later confirmed that the bad news was ultimately good news, promising redemption. The sermon emphasizes that while the good news of Christmas was joyous, it was also costly, bringing hope, joy and peace through God coming near as Immanuel.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

13. Luke 2:22-38 (NIV)
Jesus Presented in the Temple
22 When the time came for the purification rites required
by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to
Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written
in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be
consecrated to the Lord”), 24 and to offer a sacrifice in
keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair
of doves or two young pigeons.”
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon,
who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the
consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he
would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he
would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.
16. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts.
When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for
him what the custom of the Law required, 28 Simeon
took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all
nations:
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”
17. 33 The child’s father and mother marveled at what was
said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and
said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to
cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to
be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the
thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword
will pierce your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of
Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she
had lived with her husband seven years after her
marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was
eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped
night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to
them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God
and spoke about the child to all who were looking

25. Christmas is about remembering the one who came in
person.
l It is this God who came near and reordered the world,
calling us to see life and each other in startling new ways.
l It is this God -who stepped into an ordinary stable to
show us God in the ordinary, - who touched the unclean
and claimed the untouched, - whose broken body
is given again and again for broken bodies that we might be
whole.
Our morality, our countenance, our lives are wrought by his
coming among us. In each ordinary moment, forgotten
victim, and broken soul and body we see the face of God
because God first saw us.
