9 According to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.    10 And the whole multitude of the people were in prayer outside at the hour of the incense offering.    11 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.

26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,   27 To a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
30 The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.    31 "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.    32 "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;    33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end."
39 Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah,
40 and entered the house of Zachariah and greeted Elizabeth.    41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.    42 And she cried out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!    43 "And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?    44 "For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.    45 "And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord."

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.

31 Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority.

1 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2 There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, "This man deserves to have you do this, 5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue." 6So Jesus went with them.

20 Looking at his disciples, he said:       "Blessed are you who are poor,        for yours is the kingdom of God.   21 Blessed are you who hunger now,        for you will be satisfied.       Blessed are you who weep now,        for you will laugh.   22 Blessed are you when men hate you,        when they exclude you and insult you        and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.   23 "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.   24 "But woe to you who are rich,        for you have already received your comfort.   25 Woe to you who are well fed now,        for you will go hungry.       Woe to you who laugh now,        for you will mourn and weep.   26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you,        for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

14 (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each." 15 The disciples did so, and everybody sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, 31 appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what he was saying.) Moses Elijah Jesus

1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
30 In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers.
1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."   2 He said to them, "When you pray, say:     " 'Father,  hallowed be your name,     your kingdom come.  3 Give us each day our daily bread.   4 Forgive us our sins,        for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.    And lead us not into temptation.‘ "

28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.' "
10 He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' 12 He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there."
39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." 41 He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. From Matthew:
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth
and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

  • 11. 26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,   27 To a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
  • 12. 30 The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
  • 13. 39 Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah,

  • 19. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.

  • 26.   1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
  • 27. 1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.

  • 30.
  • 31. 1 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.

  • 33. 20 Looking at his disciples, he said:     "Blessed are you who are poor,       for yours is the kingdom of God.

  • 35. 14 (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each." 15 The disciples did so, and everybody sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

  • 39. 28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.

  • 41. 1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
  • 42. 30 In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers.
  • 43. 1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.

  • 45. 28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.' "
  • 46. 10 He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' 12 He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there."
  • 47. 39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." 41 He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."
