Sikkim is a small northeastern state in India nestled in the Himalayas. It has a population of around 600,000 people and is the least populous and second smallest state. Sikkim has a diverse population consisting of Lepchas, Bhutias, Nepalese, and others. The state has a predominantly Buddhist culture and is a popular tourist destination known for its scenic beauty and biodiversity, including the world's third highest mountain Kangchenjunga. Sikkim joined India in 1975 as its 22nd state.
