Small Industrial Development Bank of India (SIDBI) was established in 1990 through an Act of Parliament to provide refinancing facilities and short term lending to industries, serve as the principal financial institution for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and coordinate other institutions engaged in similar activities. SIDBI also focuses on rural enterprise promotion, entrepreneurship development, and plays a role in financial markets through credit extension and refinancing to support the long-term financing needs of industries while supporting government initiatives related to MSME development.
