Shirley Temple was born in 1928 in California and began dancing at age 3. She started her career in 1932 in short films called "War Babies" and had her breakthrough role in 1933's "Stand Up and Cheer." Her signature song "On the Good Ship Lollipop" in the 1934 film "Bright Eyes" made her a national celebrity. She starred in many successful films as a child actor and received numerous honors over her career, including an honorary Academy Award and Kennedy Center Honors. Later in life, she held several diplomatic posts for the United States.
