Ann Miller was an American dancer, singer and actress known for her work in Hollywood musical films of the 1940s and 1950s. She began taking dance classes at age 5 and moved to Los Angeles at age 9, where she began working as a dancer in nightclubs at a young age by claiming she was older. Miller signed with RKO at age 13 and Columbia Pictures in 1941, appearing in 11 musicals by 1945. Although her film career ended in 1956, she remained active on Broadway and television, winning a Sarah Siddons Award in 1983 for her Chicago theater work. Miller was renowned as one of the top tap dancers due to her speed and appeared in over 40 films and 13 stage productions.
