APPLICATION OBJECTIVE
I sincerely wish to apply for a scholarship to further my doctorate in the field of
Curriculum Development .
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has become the focus of teacher education
programmes under the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2011. CPD courses need to be
redesigned into blended learning programmes for self- initiative with the goal of
accelerating the teaching process among Malaysian teachers. The instructional shift to
blended learning requires change in curriculum designs. To support this shift and
change an in -depth study needs to be conducted.
My research aims at exploring the possibilities of designing an in service training model
which uses the blended learning approach to offer CPD courses for teachers. My
research would explore current blended learning experiences of in-service teachers in
America and Malaysia. Findings from the possible gap, confirming experience or
disconfirming experience between contrasting disciplines would lead to the

development of a blended learning model. The outcomes of this study will be analysed
and justified to inform blended learning principles to enhance the CPD programmes for
in service teachers in Malaysia.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
I am a highly motivated, result-oriented and efficient individual who has over 20 years
experience in TESL with a particular interest in Applied Linguistics disciplines. My
undergraduate and Masters were in the field of English Language Education and
Linguistics. My education and career pathways have helped me develop multiple facets
to my academic and professional competences.
 In research, I have had the experience of writing research reports for impact
studies. Collaboratively, I have written a research report on the impact of
teaching listening and speaking skills for a nationwide program and on the
efficacy of Non-Option English Teachers teaching English. I have also written a
few research papers which are in the process of publication for the ELT journal
in the ministry. One of them is the “Missing culture of inquiry skills in the ELT
classroom”. I have also written a paper on Remedial Teaching. My current
research interests are in Curriculum Development on Blended Learning for ELT
subjects such as Listening & Speaking, Reading, Writing and Language Arts. My
passion also lies in the infusion of inquiry skills in the Teaching of Oracy Skills.
 In teaching, I have a deep interest in curriculum development and pedagogical
applications of classroom teaching on language skills with the focus on blended
learning. My work as a lecturer in English Language Teaching Centre, Teacher
Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia has provided me the experience and
opportunities to explore the curriculum for literacy and pedagogical needs
through blended learning for training teachers which has been highlighted by the
Education Ministry. To date, I have co-developed curriculums and modules for
the teaching of Blended learning for Language Arts, Blended learning for the
teaching of Reading Fluency, Blended Learning for Teach To Write, Oral
Proficiency known as OPS-English and trained 300 teachers. I have also co-
developed a curriculum and module for Remedial Teaching known as LINUS 2.0
with Curriculum Development Centre and trained almost 400 teachers. My
various freelance appointments, especially with Open University Malaysia, have
provided me with a sound platform to teach various TESL related courses. I am
competent both in pedagogical-based subjects such as the Teaching of Listening
and Speaking, Reading, and Writing and in content rich areas such as Syntax and

Morphology, and Principles of Language Testing for English language teachers.
 In academic management, I have experience in supervising and mentoring
teachers through program evaluation and helping them undertake classroom-
based and action research. Having been in teacher training for 5 years, I have
gained a comprehensive understanding of clinical classroom observation and
obtain a deep insight into the nuances of evaluation and feedback.
 In networking and collaboration, I have established excellent working
relationships with various divisions in the Ministry of Education. I have strong
networks in the Curriculum Development, Textbook, Technology and Education
Planning and Research divisions in particular through the various collaborative
work that I have been involved in.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has become the focus of teacher education programmes under the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2011. CPD courses need to be redesigned into blended learning programmes for self- initiative with the goal of accelerating the teaching process among Malaysian teachers. The instructional shift to blended learning requires change in curriculum designs. To support this shift and change an in -depth study needs to be conducted. My research aims at exploring the possibilities of designing an in service training model which uses the blended learning approach to offer CPD courses for teachers. My research would explore current blended learning experiences of in-service teachers in America and Malaysia. Findings from the possible gap, confirming experience or disconfirming experience between contrasting disciplines would lead to the

The outcomes of this study will be analysed and justified to inform blended learning principles to enhance the CPD programmes for in service teachers in Malaysia. RESEARCH INTEREST Curriculum Development on Blended Learning for English Language Teachers Curriculum Development in Listening & Speaking Methodology Curriculum Development in the teaching of Oral Proficiency For English Language Teachers Curriculum Development for Remedial Teaching LINUS 2.0 PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY I am a highly motivated, result-oriented and efficient individual who has over 20 years experience in TESL with a particular interest in Applied Linguistics disciplines. My undergraduate and Masters were in the field of English Language Education and Linguistics. My education and career pathways have helped me develop multiple facets to my academic and professional competences.  In research, I have had the experience of writing research reports for impact studies. Collaboratively, I have written a research report on the impact of teaching listening and speaking skills for a nationwide program and on the efficacy of Non-Option English Teachers teaching English. I have also written a few research papers which are in the process of publication for the ELT journal in the ministry. One of them is the “Missing culture of inquiry skills in the ELT classroom”. I have also written a paper on Remedial Teaching. My current research interests are in Curriculum Development on Blended Learning for ELT subjects such as Listening & Speaking, Reading, Writing and Language Arts. My passion also lies in the infusion of inquiry skills in the Teaching of Oracy Skills.  In teaching, I have a deep interest in curriculum development and pedagogical applications of classroom teaching on language skills with the focus on blended learning. My work as a lecturer in English Language Teaching Centre, Teacher Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia has provided me the experience and opportunities to explore the curriculum for literacy and pedagogical needs through blended learning for training teachers which has been highlighted by the Education Ministry. To date, I have co-developed curriculums and modules for the teaching of Blended learning for Language Arts, Blended learning for the teaching of Reading Fluency, Blended Learning for Teach To Write, Oral Proficiency known as OPS-English and trained 300 teachers. I have also co- developed a curriculum and module for Remedial Teaching known as LINUS 2.0 with Curriculum Development Centre and trained almost 400 teachers. My various freelance appointments, especially with Open University Malaysia, have provided me with a sound platform to teach various TESL related courses. I am competent both in pedagogical-based subjects such as the Teaching of Listening and Speaking, Reading, and Writing and in content rich areas such as Syntax and
  • 3. 3 Morphology, and Principles of Language Testing for English language teachers.  In academic management, I have experience in supervising and mentoring teachers through program evaluation and helping them undertake classroom- based and action research. Having been in teacher training for 5 years, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of clinical classroom observation and obtain a deep insight into the nuances of evaluation and feedback.  In networking and collaboration, I have established excellent working relationships with various divisions in the Ministry of Education. I have strong networks in the Curriculum Development, Textbook, Technology and Education Planning and Research divisions in particular through the various collaborative work that I have been involved in.
