This document provides an introduction to social networks and social network analysis. It defines social networks as descriptions of social structures between actors like individuals and organizations. Social network analysis maps and measures relationships and information flows. Key aspects of social network analysis include degree centrality, betweenness centrality, and closeness centrality. The document discusses how social network analysis can be applied to knowledge management systems to identify bottlenecks, optimal connections, isolated individuals, and more. It also profiles the social networking site LinkedIn and how its platform allows users to map their extended professional networks. The future of social network analysis is discussed in terms of reducing complexity through simulation and modeling geographic relationships.
Big Data Social Network Analysis (BDSNA) is the focal computational and graphical
study of powerful techniques that can be used to identify clusters, patterns, hidden
structures, generate business intelligence, in social relationships within social networks
in terms of network theory. Social Network Analysis (SNA) has a diversified set of
applications and research areas such as Health care, Travel and Tourism, Defence and
Security, Internet of Things (IoT) etc. . . With the boom of the internet, Web 2.0
and handheld devices, there is an explosive growth in size, complexity and variety in
unstructured data, thus the analysis and information extraction is of great value and
adaptation of Big Data concept to SNA is vital.
This literature survey aims to investigate the usefulness of SNA in the “Big Data
(BD)” arena. This survey report reviews major research studies that have proposed
business strategies, BD approaches to generate predictive models by gratifying contemporary
challenges that have arises from SNA.

Mia presents a case study in which she explores the use of Social Network Analysis (SNA) to model her users’ network and map the relationships between people, groups, organisations and information. She will explore how understanding the degrees of centrality and closeness in the network can uncover the flows of knowledge between users to create a deeper understanding reflected in Personas.

How to Use Social Media to Influence the WorldSean Si
Here's the deck to my talk for the 23rd ASA Congress which was at The Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel. It was an awesome experience and I only had two points:
1) Use social media for good and
2) You have to have authority to use social media influentially.

In our web 2.0 world, the business landscape has changed. Consumers refuse to be interrupted anymore - demanding that brands engage with them.
People do business with people they like, know, and trust. By utilizing the social media tools available to all of us, businesses can become human. By creating valuable content and engaging with customers where they are, businesses are creating real relationships, resulting in real trust.
This presentation offers a high-level overview to where we've been, where we are, and we're we are going in social media. It gives simple-to-follow steps to start implementing social media into a business. It's not comprehensive, but can help a business take that first step.

Avoiding Anonymous Users in Multiple Social Media Networks (SMN)paperpublications3
Abstract: The main aim of this project is secure the user login and data sharing among the social networks like Gmail, Facebook and also find anonymous user using this networks. If the original user not available in the networks, but their friends or anonymous user knows their login details means possible to misuse their chats. In this project we have to overcome the anonymous user using the network without original user knowledge. Unauthorized user using the login to chat, share images or videos etc This is the problem to be overcome in this project .That means user first register their details with one secured question and answer. Because the anonymous user can delete their chat or data In this by using the secured questions we have to recover the unauthorized user chat history or sharing details with their IP address or MAC address. So in this project they have found out a way to prevent the anonymous users misuse the original user login details.

SNA helps in analyzing the following facts in a KMS:
Bottlenecks - Central nodes that provide the only
connection between different parts of the network.
Number of links - Insufficient or excessive links between
departments that must coordinate effectively.
Average distance - Degrees of separation connecting all
pairs of nodes in the group.

distort the information.
Isolation - People that are not integrated well into a
group and therefore, represent both untapped skills and
a high likelihood of turnover.
Highly expert people - Not being utilized appropriately.
Organizational subgroups or cliques - Can develop their
own subcultures and negative attitudes toward other
groups.
