This document discusses ideas about the role of a conductor in networked music performances. It describes the Quintet.net networked performance environment, which allows a conductor to interact with performers in real-time by generating symbolic musical notation. This notation is then sight-read by the performers. As an example, the piece "Ivresse '84" is discussed, in which a John Cage score is recomposed in real-time as the conductor interacts with a multi-touch surface, with the generated parts sent to performers.
The poem represents the speaker's female lover as a metaphor for his love of music. He sees her body as a kind of music-making instrument, allowing him to create music by reading her "notes". The intimacy of their physical relationship is compared to the intimacy of musical composition.
Enhancing a Digital Sheet Music Collection A report for LIS-435 ...crysatal16
The document discusses enhancing an existing digital sheet music collection by adding sound files to accompany the sheet music and synchronizing the two file formats so they can be viewed and listened to simultaneously. Organizing lessons and classroom activities for group work is important when a classroom only has one computer. Teachers must rethink how they teach and plan lessons so students can work in small groups to take turns using the computer while other groups work without it. A single computer can be used effectively for presentations, producing student work, cooperative learning, and accessing information if teachers thoughtfully plan lessons. Placement of the computer, such as securing it on a portable cart, also impacts how it can be used for different activities and displaying information for the whole class.

IPTV for Schools - 21st Century SolutionsAndrew Lemert
Many educational institutions need to upgrade the systems used to deliver video content to classrooms, either to replace aging technologies or to support a greater range of content and viewing devices. IPTV networks, particularly those based on newly available technologies, offer significant video quality improvements and provide a unified user interface for live, pre-recorded, on-demand, and Internet-sourced video. IPTV systems can be installed incrementally as an overlay to an existing network, or can be deployed as complete replacements of an existing system. Recent cost reductions, particularly in key software and server components, have now made IPTV technology affordable for virtually any school system.

This document discusses how DeviceNet networks commonly experience downtime from "bus off" errors, costing companies tens of thousands per year. It proposes that companies can reduce this downtime and cost by replacing DeviceNet components with an IO-Link solution, which uses point-to-point communication between IO-Link masters and slaves in a star configuration, making networks easier to troubleshoot. The document provides an example where converting to IO-Link eliminated 8-10 hours of downtime per month on a single machine.
Technologies in the film and tv industries final version copy 2barsik1997
The document discusses various technologies used in the film and TV industries, including consumer products for media production, satellite TV, cable TV, the transition from analogue to digital, interactive TV, the internet, high definition, 3D, pay-per-view, on-demand viewing, streaming content, and digital recorders. Satellite TV works by transmitting signals from satellites to receivers via satellite dishes. Cable TV transmits signals through coaxial cables. The transition to digital provided benefits like improved picture quality and time-shifting capabilities. Interactive TV allows two-way communication but also raises privacy concerns. The internet has greatly impacted the industries through online streaming and video platforms.

Wireless HDMI technology allows users to transmit high-definition video and audio from one device to another without cables. There are two main methods: using wireless HDMI transmitters that plug into devices, or using apps where a transmitter plugs into the TV and the app streams from other devices. While convenient, wireless HDMI using apps relies on WiFi which can be unstable. For wireless HDMI to succeed in replacing cables, it needs to be cross-platform, compact, and user-friendly.

3. •Example of connecting a computer to a television “The Computer on Wheels”
The most flexible and cost effective set up of computer hardware that we have seen
for use in classrooms is the “Computer on Wheels”. In this arrangement, a wheeled cart,
usually 4'-5' high, carries a large screen television (27quot;-31quot; size) strapped firmly on the top
shelf. A computer is installed on a lower shelf and connected to the television
through a scan converter. The converter connects from the computer’s monitor output
directly to the television. A separate smaller computer monitor may also be located on this
TV Monitor lower shelf but it is not necessarily required. This arrangement provides a larger screen for the
entire classroom of students to view the computer activities. The wheeled cart provides
flexibility for locating the computer and arranging the classroom for different activities. It
also allows teachers to share the computer in different classrooms. When SideKeys is added
to this “computer on wheels” system the teacher and students can easily input remotely to
the computer from anywhere in the classroom.
