Good Morning everyone I did my project on Physical Education. \n
Physical Education is an important part of a student’s educational foundation because it teaches leadership, teamwork and healthy habits. Through my application component I will prove that students can learn all these components while still having fun. Physical Education is an important part of a student’s educational foundation because it teaches leadership, teamwork and healthy habits. Through my application component I will prove that students can learn all these components while still having fun. \n
Gym class has always been a one of my favorite classes in school and growing up i decided to live a healthy life. This means that i would do everything i was told to do in gym class and take it out into the real world. So I decided last year that i wanted to help get the message across to school that students should always be taking P.E because it will help them be truly more successful in life. \n
The Main components that students should get out of Physical Education is Leadership, Teamwork and Healthily habits you will soon learn how you are able to get these out of Physical Education\n
During Physical education students start to develop if they are going to led themselves or if someone else is going to have lead everyone. A students job in Phis Ed isn’t to excel at every sport its to find there leadership. During early physical education it starts to develop them into their young adult form but during High School Physical Education it starts to teach them Leadership which they will then need later on in life so they don’t be a follower their whole lives. The first time students really start to show leadership roles are in the 4th grade and then they are finally done with the learning in 12th grade. \n
During Physical Education Students are most likely to be playing a team sport which requires you to work with other students. This means they will have to work together as a team. Which then means they need their team work to come into affect. Teamwork is very important in your lives because with teamworks becomes friends which then becomes more chance for you to be come closer with one another. This will helps students become more mature because in the future they will be but into groups in their jobs, in school and also life this will help them prepare themselves for a chance of a lifetime. \n
To avoid major Disease you will want to have Physical Active regularly which doesn’t mean you have to have it in school you may need to do it outside of school. Having proper physical education regularly this will lower your blood pressure. This will also give students a chance to see how to live the proper way and hopefully they will go along with it more in there lives they can be a success. You will learn ideas and techniques. \n \n\n
If students have Physical Education they will have more an opportuneness to make new friends and get more involved in teams or even clubs. This is because during Physical Education you aren’t always stuck with your best friend you most of the time get separated from them. Meaning if you wanna talk to someone you must find a new person to talk to so you might have a lot in common with this person you may not but your are still taking a chance and may be getting a new friend out of it.\n
There has always been Physical Fitness in the world going back way to ancient greek but with physical education its a different storyThe Untied states wasn’t the first one’s to introduce Physical Education the first once were actually the Germans, Sweden's and the Untied Kingdom. The first time Physical education was noticed was in the United States in the early 1800‘s.During the 1800’s colleges and universities began to offer it to their students as a physical education program or class. There wasn’t really a true school to make students perform physical education it was a state and that was California in 1866. After California a lot of states got the idea to follow them so within the next thirty years many other states followed.\n\n
When it first started it was only for guys it wasn’t until early 1900’s when girls were aloud to be part of Physical Education but the classes were still segregated. Then for most of century it stayed like this until late 1900’s when girls and guy were mixed together in a physical education class. Still a little segregated during the 1960’s not letting kids with disabilities participate. This all changed in 1969-1970 when a federal law was passed and signed allowing all kids to be able to participate in gym. \n
In the 21st Century the economy has hurt a lot of schools and there funding do to their funding cuts some schools had to get rid of Physical Education class leaving students not having Physical Activity unless they are playing a sport. Some schools used to make their students have gym every day now the percentages have dropped 4% of elementary schools have their students have Physical Education in their Schedule. 8% of Middles schools have Physical Education in their schedule. 2% of High School students have Physical Education in their Schedule. `\n
The percentage of kids who cut P.E is on the rise and doesn’t look like its going to stop. The reason kids are so willing to cut P.E is for a few reason one being the fact that its not important because you just get graded on showing up. The other reason is the feel like they should get all their other work done. So when most kids cut P.E its so they can go and do other school work such as Math or english which then is a bad idea because you need at least 30 mins of Physical Activity a day to live a healthily life style. \n\nThis information came from the magazine called Educational Leadership 2009 the article was called “ Why Not to Cut P.E” \n\n
Critical Thinking is a huge side role in Physical Education. For some side activities you are put into different situations that make you think differently which then puts your relationships with other students to a whole new level. If you have Physical Education at least two times a week and have critical thinking situations it will higher your scores in physical education making your grades go up which then will result in better things.\n
Obesity- Obesity is a main reason why its important for you to have and go to Physical Education when you are young the Roots of Obesity have been appearing more in the young youth the young adults. Since 1960 the Obesity rate has increased by 15.6% make this a dangerous jump. The Childs Obesities is found by BMI which is the Body Mass Index. Meaning they need if you weight isn’t in the right place you need to do more physical Activity to lower your weight. \n\n\n\nDevelop Problem Solving- During your early years of Physical Education student will start to learn how to make decisions for themselves. This is a trait that is starting to make the students more mature. This will the develop them into young adults. \n\n \n
To Learn Healthy Habits- When your young you take in Habits that will end up Developing you into an adult. So if you have Healthy habits learned then you will end up being a successful young man. For an example if you skip gym or don't have it and you don’t eat right you will end up having to deal with obesity problems. If you decided to go to gym class and eat right and exercise regularly you will be fine and turn out to be very successful in life. \n
Develop Problem Solving- During your early years of Physical Education student will start to learn how to make decisions for themselves. This is a trait that is starting to make the students more mature. This will the develop them into young adults. \nMake better\n
During Physical Education you are going to be a a high level of activity which well the cause you to sweat. Sweating is a natural body function but at the same its not something you would want to do. Students decided to they wont go to gym if they have it in the middle of the day because they don’t want to continue school all smelly. Also the students feel like that other class are more important. Even though Physical activity is very important at the same time its going to make your tired so students think thats its okay to miss Physical Education because of the fact the you start to sweat and the fact that you will be tired and smelly at the end of the class. \n\n\n
Growing up i always loved gym class no matter what day it was or when i had it i was excited to participate. Everyday when i would come to gym class i would never be the kid who sat out i always watched kids sit out. Then i started to realize what gym class was doing for me it start to give me chance to make good friend and have a healthy life style so i can keep my image that the ladies love and when kids sat out it just made me feel like the teacher and myself weren’t doing anything to help them. \n
Field day is day of the week were you try to get kids to go out and be active. It starts off by the students getting into their teams that they are assign to. After that they report to the field the are also assign to and then there activities will start.\n
My SGP basically got started last year when Ms. Morris approached me the idea with field day. I thought long and hard about it and i decided half way through the summer that I would want to do it. She said she would love for my help so i helped her. \n
The first thing i had to do was basically help Ms. Morris get this approved and to do that i scheduled a meeting with Mr. Baur and he told me that it need a purpose and i told him that the purpose was to get kids to get more physically active. He liked the idea so he approve and gave me the date which was april 15th.\n
Once i told Ms. Morris that the day got approved and we started to get everything started we thought of the games first and how we were going to do this and all of the idea kept following and it all looked great and we were super happy all of the idea we had were going to help us make this day happen. \n
Ms. Morris and I knew that we would no way possible be able to do this with just us and the rest of the physical education department. So we found helpers that were in the advance physical education program. These helpers were probably are best choice and they worked out so well. \n
So everything looked like it was going to be great and then we hit a few minor speed bumps. The first speed bump we hit was who was going to watch all these kids so Mr. Baur was able to find teachers who would be free and we were able to help or some even played with there students and tried to get them to victory. The worst problem that i faced was we were suppose to have different colored bands for the students but they got stuck in china and then Ms. Clifton saved the day as she cut ribbon for me and it truly was the greatest thing anyone ever did for me. \n
\n
I think field day really turned out great. I think more kids will not think of getting out there with their friends and I saw so many kids smiling and happy with the games they were playing. I also feel like kids in the school got closer they had to use teamwork for the relay races with kids they might not talk to and it all worked out for the best. \n
Since i’m leaving high school I can’t make another field for upper merion. The good news is Ms. Morris has told me that there is going to more field days in the future that what we did is going to start a new trend and that upper merion is going to start having more field days.\n
Since i started this project my whole idea about college and what i want to do with my life changed. I decided that since field day was so much fun to plan and look forward to I am going to try to make it happen at another school. They way I am going to do this is by going to college and studying in the field of Physical Education and Health. Which will then let me become a health teacher at a school that doesn’t have field day and give them the chance to have it.\n
We are going to go to the gym and play four square. \n
\n
\n
In Conclusion Physical Education teaches you so much life lessons that you need to have so that you can survive in life. All they way from Physical Activity so that you can stay fit to Leadership so that one day you will be able to live your own life without anyone holding you back. \n
