Seymour led a revolution in American illustration and graphic design in the late 1950s and early 1960s, shifting styles from sentimental realism to comic expressionism. After founding Push Pin Studios in 1954 with Milton Glaser and Edward Sorel, Seymour created illustrations for magazines, posters, and more that directly influenced generations with his distinct absurdist and witty style. While rooted in vintage traditions, his work synthesized, reinvented, and sometimes parodied the past instead of copying it.
