Frank Stella is an American
painter and printmaker.
He is one of the most well-
regarded postwar American
painters still working today.
His work was influenced by
the abstract artists Jackson
Pollock and Franz Kline.

ART ACTIVITY
SUPPLIES
1. Shapes – Ruler, triangles,
protractors, compass
2. Square and Circle handouts
3. Thick paper, card stock or
thin cardboard
4. Your choice of pastels,
crayons, pencil crayons or
markers
To Do
1. Choose the shapes you want to use
2. Color on the back of the circle or square handout with the side of a pencil
(above)
3. Make sure you color the whole area where the shape is (check occasionally)
4. Turn handout right side up and place it on top of cardstock
5. Trace over the circles or squares on the handout pressing hard
6. Lift up paper, to see a faint outline of the shapes on the cardstock
7. Cut out the shapes
8. Position shapes on your paper in a way that you like
9. Decide on your color pattern
10.Trace around shapes
11. Color in according to your pattern using 4 or 5 colors max
12. Choose warm, cool or complementary colours
13.Outline shapes with a black marker
14.Cut them out
15.Glue on a black background
