This document discusses the goals of a Design and Technology session which are to develop skills in mechanisms, resistant materials, textiles, and food. It aims to help participants understand the National Curriculum, health and safety, cross-curricular aspects, and develop lesson planning and assessment skills. Participants will complete a lesson plan for a textiles activity and design a visual aid to support student learning in Design and Technology.

5. Working in pairs, complete a lesson plan for the textiles activity you have carried out. Use the proforma provided and think carefully about how you will structure the lesson.

6. Design a visual aid/ handout/ worksheet to support the children’s learning in D&T. What do you know about how children learn that will help you?
