The document outlines a proposed service system template for social innovation in education in developing countries.
It analyzes 17 cases of social entrepreneurs in Bangladesh working in education. From this, it identifies common components of the service systems, including identifying a target group, providing additional educational materials, and creating opportunities for education and employment.
The document then proposes a new social innovation using this template. It suggests combining massive open online courses (MOOCs) to enhance computer literacy with crowdsourcing to provide rural people microtask job opportunities. This could help realize the goals of educational and employment opportunities through the service system.

Service Science Textbooks: Opportunities of an Interdisciplinary ApproachDr. Ronny M. Schüritz
With the rise of service science, management and engineering as an independent and interdisciplinary research school, several courses and entire study programs emerged in several universities around the world. Several textbooks address teaching service science from the perspective of a specific discipline such as marketing, operations management or computer science. Therefore, so far teaching service science requires the preparation and combination of lecture material from different textbooks and other teaching material, since there was a lack of interdisciplinary and integrated textbooks for teaching service science. This paper reviews existing service textbooks for motivating the need for an integrated service science textbook. Furthermore, the outline of a new forthcoming interdisciplinary service science textbook is presented. This textbook integrates several disciplines, such as business and economics, quantitative sciences, and computer science. The textbook therefore provides an interdisciplinary map of the world of service science that conquers the challenges to explain service systems to students and practitioners. This enables lecturers to organize their courses along a comprehensive and integrated course concept which has been the result of teaching service science at universities for several years.

According to modern service science theory, value is jointly generated by several partners forming a service system. In this work, we focus on a simple two-party system consisting of a service provider and its customer. The value created by this service system hinges on the contribution of both parties.
That is, it also depends on the collaboration of the customer, which is a key characteristic of services in traditional definitions. Providers, however, lack knowledge on how to identify and measure the influence factors for value cocreation, such as customer contribution. Being aware of customer contribution, providers could design and manage value propositions purposefully. In this work, we provide a first version of a framework of influence factors for value co-creation in service systems, which may serve providers as a guideline for identifying different types of customer contribution.

From curiosity to systemic implementation: Making UDL buy-in a strategic inst...Frederic Fovet
There has been growing but sporadic interest around Universal Design for Learning across the post-secondary sector in most jurisdictions over the last decade. This, in itself is encouraging and there is no doubt that the notion that inclusion must be achieved through proactive inclusive design rather than through retrofitting and accommodations is finally gaining in popularity and visibility. While many of the initiatives seeking to implement UDL are effective and credible, these are usually led by individual instructors or small communities of practice. As such, they represent powerful illustrations of UDL in action but they fail to tackle the complexity of how systemic implementation can be achieved across institutions. This presentation will offer an ecological view of the numerous factors that come into play when institutions consider campus-wide UDL implementation, and will prepare participants to proactively prepare for this complexity. It is undeniable that the COVID pandemic and the pivot to online teaching and learning have further muddied the waters, and the presentation will seek to explore what specific post-pandemic UDL efforts are now necessary.

Are Gutters Necessary? Explore the details now!AmeliaLauren3
Gutters are typically installed at a slight downward slope to allow water to flow freely towards downspouts or drains – the downspout being the vertical pipe attached to the gutters. The water is subsequently transported by the downspout to either the ground or an underground drainage system. Maintaining a gutter system that is free of blockages and functional requires regular maintenance.
But, many wonder in what situations gutters are required and not required. In this ppt we will discuss in detail the matter, ‘Are Gutters Necessary?’

2. Presentation Outline
• Background and research objectives
• Research methodology and results
• Service system template for social innovation (SI)
• Proposed new social innovation
• Future research directions
2
4. Social Innovation (SI) as a Service
• SI is a novel solution to a social problem (Phills et al.,
2008).
• SI is very urgent issue for solving very complex
problems in our society.
• In service science it is considered that “everything is
service”. SI is considered as a service.
4
5. Service System for Social Innovation
• Business model is the exchange of money and goods.
• Service system is the extension of business model.
• In case of SI, there is no service system in the social
domain at the beginning. Therefore, we need to
develop a new service system to solve the social
problems from the scratch.
5
6. Research Goals
• In this research, we focus on education in a
developing country.
• In the developing countries, there are variety of
pressing issues.
• Formal education systems in the developing countries
are unable to meet the demand of the poor people.
• Therefore, some individual social entrepreneurs of are
putting their system changing ideas into practice.
6
7. Research Objectives
• To develop service system template for social
innovation in the field of education;
• To suggest a new social innovation through the
combination of MOOCs and crowdsourcing in the field
of education in the developing countries.
7
8. Our Approach
• First, we review literature on “Effectuation theory” and
“Institutionalization”.
• Secondly, we use 17 “Ashoka Fellows” in the field of
“Education” in Bangladesh.
• Ashoka is the world’s largest association of leading social
entrepreneurs.
• From this, finally we will develop “service system template”
for SI in developing countries.
8
10. Two Phases of Social Innovation
• In the entrepreneurship, the process of effect change in
market is called “effectuation”.
• Effectuation theory describes the process of system change
and to what extent the system will be changed we cannot
control and can not predict.
• It is a try and error process.
• When the beneficiary group becomes large, then the
participation to the group becomes as a social norm. This
social norm is related to social institutionalization.

13. Selection of Cases
• We selected 17 “Ashoka Fellows” in the field of “Education” in
Bangladesh.
• Ashoka Fellows are leading social entrepreneurs who recognize
to have innovative solutions to social problems and the potential
to change patterns across society.
• Ashoka maintains very rigorous process for selection of Fellows.
• The description of each case contains essential information of
the essence of success factor of SI.
• Even the analysis of 17 cases are considered as good source for
the development of final service system template.
13
14. Procedures of Analysis
• Initially, we retrieve of 17 cases from Ashoka database from 1988-2008.
• Secondly, three researchers read individually all the cases for
understanding the essence of service system of every case.
• Thirdly, each member present his or her understanding of the essence of
every case during “Social Innovation Research Group Meeting”.
• During the discussion, we develop service system for each case. But the
components of each service system was same. In some cases, it was
different.
• Through this way, finally we develop the final service system for SI
innovation in the field of education in developing countries.

16. Social Problems in the Field of Education
• Education is luxuries and expensive for the poor and landless families.
• Student are less creative due to lack of user friendly and goal oriented text-
books.
• Learning computers are not available in the rural areas.
• University student politics creates violence and distraction from education.
• Children have less opportunity outside the classroom to utilize their time in
creative activities in rural areas.
• Children have less attraction and more fear in learning science.
• Bede community is deprived from the socio-economic benefits.
• Mathematics as an optional subject in 11 and 12 grade creates less science
graduates.
16
18. IT Education with English Language (2)
• Here, entrepreneurs provide IT education with English
language.
• Experienced and skills teachers are hired from American
Embassy, BUET and renowned universities of Bangladesh for
teaching computers and English language.
• As computer education is not enough for getting jobs that’s
why the entrepreneurs provide English language additionally
free of cost.
18
20. Literacy Education of Women Workers (2)
• Here women are working in the garment industry. But they
are illiterate.
• They need safe housing and illiteracy skills.
• Entrepreneurs make safe housing as well as night school at
the safe home for providing torch of education among the
women.
• Entrepreneurs also provide good education for the children
of the women.

Good afternoon
Thank you very much for coming Third Asian Conference on Information Systems
I am Md Abul Kalam Siddike, a Master student at the SKS, in JAIST, Japan.
Today I will talk about Service system for………………………………
SI is a novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than existing solutions and for which the value created accrues primarily to society, as a whole, rather than private individuals.
In Service science, everything is considred as service. Therefore, we understand SI innovation as service
For providing better services, service system is very important……….
Traditionally, business model is based on the development of products by the producers and exchanged the products by means of money.
On the other hand, service system is the extension of business model where goods are worked as an apparatus for provision or creation of services.
In case of social innovation the main purpose of service system is to solve a target social problems.
In the developing countries, there are variety of pressing issues including poverty, sanitation, women empowerment, and illiteracy that demand innovation in the social domain.
Therefore, some individual social entrepreneurs of are putting their system changing ideas into practice in the field of education that contribute greatly for changing the quality and quantity of lives of the poor people.
Every year Ashoka selects their fellows in broadly six fields of work: civic engagement, economic development, environment, health, human rights, and learning/education.
In the development of social innovation (SI), there are two phases. First phase is related to the system change and second phase is related to the social norm
The second phase of SI is social norm. When the beneficiary group becomes large, then the participation to the group becomes as a social norm. This social norm is related to institutionalization.
In this service system, the main purpose of education is to provide employment opportunites for the rural people.
Secondly, in this service system the target for social innovation is the rural people.
Additional components of this service system is the additional educational for the work. In case of SI, different kinds of additional educational opportunites including mobile boat schools, safe housing with literacy, local mathematical festivals and debate conferences are provided to the students for their better education.
The fourth step of SI innovation is the educational opportunities. Several innovative educational opportunities are provided for the rural people.
Therefore, if we concentrate on the world, we can see that there is a trends of incorporating new technologies in the field of education. MOOCs are new trends in education in the developed world. Because……………………
