Introduction Teachers shapethe next generation of citizens Teaching is the profession that creates all other profession the new education policy must help reestablish teachers at all levels as the most respected and essential members of our society It must do everything to empower teachers NEP 2020 must make provisions for attracting the very best and brightest to enter the teaching profession at all levels

Concept of teacher education “a programof education , research and training of persons to teach from pre-primary to higher education level” – NCTE Teacher education refers to the policies and procedures designed to equip prospective teachers with the knowledge , attitude , behaviors and skills they require to perform their task effectively in the classroom , school and wider community Teacher preparation is an activity requiring multidisciplinary perspective and knowledge , formation of dispositions and values , development of practice under the best mentors .

Current scenario ofteacher education MAJORITY OF STANDALONE TEACHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES ARE NOT ATTEMPTING SERIOUS TEACHER EDUCATION THEY ARE SELLING DEGREES FOR A PRICE MANY GOVERNMENT ATTEMPT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IMPLEMENT BASIC STANDARDS FOR QUALITY MUSHROOM GROWTH OF PRIVATE TEACHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES COMPROMISE ITS QUALITY

Vision of NEP2020 on teacher education New and comprehensive national curriculum framework for teacher education by 2021 All standalone teacher education institutes to convert to multidisciplinary institute by 2030 Only multidisciplinary integrated teacher education programs by 2030 NTA testing for admission to B.Ed.
- 6. Vision of NEP2020 on teacher education Scholarships for meritorious and also rural outstanding students in 4 years B.Ed . Strict action against the substandard standalone teacher education institutes National mission for mentoring with a large tool of outstanding senior /retired faculties
- 7. Teacher education programsas per NEP 2020 4 years integrated B.Ed,2years B.Ed and 1 year B.Ed for students with different levels of education. B.Ed in blended mode /ODL mode to remote area students and in-service teachers by multidisciplinary HEIs. Shorter local teacher education programs at BITE and DIETS or school campuses for eminent local persons.

Teacher education programsas per NEP 2020 Shorter post B.Ed certification course for teachers in multidisciplinary colleges and universities Credit based courses in teaching/education/writing/pedagogy related to the subjects of PhD scholars along with real teaching experiences. CPD for in service teachers by workshops and online platforms like SWAYAM/DIKSHA. Certificate courses for preservice and in service teachers ,full or part time /blended course in special education for the regular teachers.
- 9. Suggestions for improvementof teacher education SURPRISE VISITS OR INSPECTIONS BY MONITORING AGENCIES FOR PROPER FUNCTIONING OF INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES TEACHERS NEED MOTIVATION TO IMPART BETTER QUALITY EDUCATION AND A DECENT SALARY MAY WORK AS MOTIVATING FACTOR FOR TEACHERS.
- 10. conclusion Its timefor Indian teachers to seize this opportunity and become the makers of their own destiny To work hard to achieve their dreams, Gain insights also from the thoughts, beliefs, experiences of their peer practitioners Finding inner power and restoration of high respect and status to this profession after implementation of NEP-2020
