INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS CHROMECAST?
 The Chromecast is a HDMI dongle that’s about the size of a USB flash drive, weighs just 34
grams (1 .2 Oz) and is of 2”.
 It is a device that plays audio/video content on a high-definition display by
directly Streaming it viaWi-Fi from the Internet or a local network.
CHROMECAST ACCORDINGTO GOOGLE
 With Chromecast, you can easily enjoy your favourite online
entertainment on your HDTV— movies,TV shows, music, and more
from Netflix,YouTube, Hulu Plus, Google Play Movies, Music,
Chrome etc.
CHROMECAST ACCORDINGTO INDUSTRY
REVIEWS
 Chromecast is Google’s low‐cost answer toTV streaming.
 Chromecast certainly fixes the out‐of‐reach hardware issue by selling for a
rock‐bottom price. If you can plug an HDMI cable into a television, you can
use Chromecast.
 The Google Chromecast is a dirt‐cheap wireless video dongle that streams
Netflix andYouTube to yourTV using Android or IOS tablets as remotes. Its
small size hides neatly behind yourTV and makes it easy to take on‐the‐go.
HISTORY OF CHROMECAST
 Before Chromecast there is a device called Nexus Q, which is a discontinued digital media player
that was developed by Google. Unveiled at the Google I/O developers' conference on June 2012,
the device was expected to be released to the public in the United States shortly thereafter for
US$300.The Nexus Q was designed to leverage Google's online media offerings, such as Google
Play Music, Google Play Movies &TV, andYouTube, to provide a "shared" experience.
HISTORY OF CHROMECAST
The Nexus Q received mixed reviews from critics following its unveiling. While its polarizing design
was praised, the Q was criticized for its lack of functionality in comparison to similar devices such as
AppleTV, including a lack of third-party content services, no support for streaming content directly
from other devices, as well as other software issues that affected the usability of the device
HISTORY OF CHROMECAST
 Chromecast is a line of digital media players developed by Google. Designed as
small dongles, the devices play audio/video content on a high-definition television
or home audio system by directly streaming it viaWi-Fi from the Internet or a
local network. Users select the media to play using mobile apps and web apps that
support the Google Cast technology. Alternatively, content can be mirrored from
the Google Chrome web browser running on a personal computer, as well as from
the screen of some Android devices.
 The first-generation Chromecast, a video streaming device, was announced on
July 24, 2013, and made available for purchase on the same day in the United
States for US$35.[3]The Google Cast SDK was released on February 3, 2014,
allowing third parties to modify their software to work with Chromecast.
According to Google, over 20,000 Google Cast–ready apps are available, as of May
2015.
CHROMECAST IS NOT AN USB FLASH DRIVE
• At first glance, Chromecast could be mistaken for a USB flash drive..
• For those participants, it was very hard to understand that Chromecast
worked wirelessly and even though it “connects” to laptops and mobile
devices, it did not need to be physically connected to those devices.

HOW CHROMECAST WORKS?
HOW CHROMECAST WORKS?
Chromecast has 2 components:
 DIAL (Discovery and launch protocol)
 REST Service
 DIAL Protocol was developed by Netflix andYouTube which is owned by Google. This
protocol is being integrated into devices and apps by various manufactures and content
provider.
 DIAL protocol allows the DIAL client to locate the DIAL server device running on the same
WIFI network. In the case of Chromecast, your phone, tablet or laptop act as a client and
the Chromecast itself is the server.
 REST protocol then receives the HTTP request from the client device(mobile ,laptop,
tablet, pc) to launch the applications on the server device(Chromecast).
WHY DO WE NEED CHROMECAST?
 It is a low cost product that commoditizes the hardware aspect of the category
focusing all value on the software and thus the ecosystem.
 Chromecast is simple to use – you merely plug the product into yourTV’s existing
HDMI port and connect via an existing Wi-Fi network / wireless device;
 As with Google / Android’s platform in general, the platform is more open than
the Apple platform as it works across platforms (AppleTV only operates with iOS
devices and Macs).

APPLICATIONS
Leave Cables Behind
Some problems with cables
1. During travels you need to carry specific cables for specific
laptops.
2.With Mac Books, that means a Mini Display Port to HDMI
converter, usually, which can run from $7 to $35
3. Sometimes you need to carry different audio cables too.
APPLICATIONS
Make Better Presentations
1.The Chromecast works best when you’re streaming from a browser tab,
so it’s better to check once the compatibility.
2. works best with google docs.
3. another option PDF.
APPLICATIONS
Let everyone join In
1. Group Discussion require many people and their ideas and a mode(device) to
represent.
2. Immediate switching is required.
3. How Chromecast solves this problem?
APPLICATIONS
Have fun
1.when you are connected you can streamYouTube.
2.play games.
3. even guests can cast
in using guest feature.
CONCLUSION
 Chromecast is an easy product to set up and use due to a carefully crafted out-of-
box experience
 Compatibility android devices andWindows too with just an application needed
for the connection.
 While casting, you’re free to use your phone for other things
CONCLUSION
 While there are plenty of alternatives out there to make a television smarter,
Chromecast is one of the most affordable yet functional.
 Google has committed to launching the device more broadly & internationally
with the intent of adding to the library of compatible apps, ultimately setting
consumer expectations that every app will be "castable".
