Taking into account Aurelia’s comments and that we need to improve our teaching
performance as the classes pass by, it really interesting and useful reflect upon our
own teaching experiences.
During this class, I started with a game to activate their prior knowledge and
refresh what they have learned during the last classes. I could develop the whole
class using the second language and they could follow my instructions without any
problem. When they could understand I used flashcards and mimic; in spite of I
adapted the vocabulary and commands to their level to make understandable.
I think that as Aurelia marked, walked around the class was really useful because
of that way I could monitor and check their progress in the activities. As I
mentioned before, they enjoyed the classes and taking into account that most of
them study in English institutes I could make that the children who do not study
outside the school could develop every activity.
In addition to, I decided to check the activities to monitor that they have done it or
if they have any doubt, because this first class they showed quite shy to answer or
ask, however I tried to elicit them through oral interaction, students were asked to
discover and state meanings of different movies or about the topic: Passives.
In many occasions, the classroom was really noisy because it was the primary break
and that is why it was difficult speak without loud my voice. But the students were
very respectful and willing to participate orally and in the activities. The use of the
target language was also success, as they were engaged with the topic of the class.
