 This Auto pilot mode Technology enables the vehicle
to self-drive in the highway roads without the control
of the humans.
 It helps the user to save their valuable time which is
wasted while driving and it is not necessary for the
drivers to be always seated in the driver seat except the
places
 Many accidents are occurred due to the carelessness of
the drivers. This can be avoided by implementing this
Autopilot mode technology.
 They are Mechanical, Electronics, IT and Computer
science departments. Mechanical department is going to
take care of all the mechanical movements of the
vehicle. Electronics department take care of the fetching
of programs made for the working of this technology
 Example for a self driving car
( TESLA CARS : Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y
 First “ Auto-piloting ” of a plane was occurred in 1914
 First “ self steering gear ” of a ship was occurred in 1950
 The inventor of auto pilot technology is LAWERENCE SPERRY
 The inventor of the modern day auto pilot technology is ELON MUSK
in 2016 (Tesla Model S)
 k
1. A camera is mounted above the rear license plate.
2. Ultrasonic sensors (if equipped) are located in the
front and rear bumpers.
3. A camera is mounted in each door pillar.
4. Three cameras are mounted to the windshield above
the rear view mirror.
5. A camera is mounted to each front fender.
6. Radar (if equipped) is mounted behind the front
bumper.(Tesla cars doesn’t use LIDAR because its
expensive compare to LIDAR , Radar is efficient and
inexpensive )
 For the working of the autopilot or self driving a
computer is used to process the operation
 In a tesla they use the best chip in the world to for that
purpose
 This chip is called the SELF DRIVING CHIP
 It has 260 square millimeter of samsung prime silicons
and 6 Trillion Transistors
 It can perform a 26 trillion operation per second so it
can respond fast in real-time
 It has ability to learn and adapt to its surroundings
 Adaptive cruise control
 Auto steering
 Automated Lane changing
 Summoning
 Auto parking etc…
 Automatically adjusts the speed of your car to match
the speed of the car in front of you
 It can detect the speed indicator and automatically
slow down or accelerate the vehicle if needed
 It can detect the traffic signs and apply the brakes and
stop the vehicle or accelerate automatically
 It has speed and distance sensors
 You can set the cruising speed if needed
 Auto steering is how the vehicle steer itself by the help
of computer inside an Tesla car
 In an Auto steering of a vehicle there is Steering Motor
is mounted on its Steering unit

 Summon allows you to automatically park and
retrieve Model Y while you are standing outside the
vehicle
 Using your phone's GPS as a target destination and the
car will arrive to the destination of your choice only
 It is Beta program of tesla , the tesla m0del Y has this
feature
 Activated via a button somewhere on the dashboard or
accessed via the infotainment screen
 Automatic parking systems use various sensors or
cameras on the front and rear of the vehicle to scan for
an open parking spot while you drive
 Entertainment technology, such as video screens,
could be used without any concern of distracting the
driver
 Travelers would be able to journey overnight and sleep
for the duration.
 Difficult parking would be quicker, less stressful and
require no special skills.
 People who have difficulties driving such as disabled
people, older citizens, and children would be able to
travel on their own
 Can decrease the human errors
 Taxi drivers, and delivery drivers will gradually lose
their jobs as these vehicles take over
 A computer malfunction easily cause a far worse
accident than human errors
 Hackers getting into the vehicle's software and
controlling or affecting its operation
 Have trouble distinguishing and determining the
intentions of human drivers on the roads
NASA’S MARS ROVER TESLA CYBER TRUCK
TESLA Model Y TESLA Model S
 By using this technology we can decrease the human
errors slightly
 By using this technology we can make transportation
or driving less difficult for some people
 In the near future this technology can be upgraded
and improved into a better version of itself
 We all learned about a self driving car and how it
works in this seminar and its advantages and
disadvantages
