Search EnGINE OPTIMIZATION
Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to your websites from search engines via natural or organic search results.   Search engines index millions of web sites and yours can be buried deep within  those results if it is not optimized properly. Building a web site or adjusting an  existing one so that it comes up on the first pages is what this seminar is about.    Over 80 % of consumers use a search engine to find the product or service they need. To be found by these individuals, your site must first be found by  search engines and second, your site must have a high ranking.    If they can’t find you you’re losing business opportunities to your competitors.
Things to avoid. Hidden Text Using white text on a white background Including text behind an image Using CSS to hide text Setting the font size to 0 Hidden links Links that are intended to be crawled by Googlebot, but are unreadable  to humans because: ,[object Object]
CSS has been used to make tiny hyperlinks, as little as one pixel high.
The link is hidden in a small character - for example, a hyphen in the middle of a paragraph.,[object Object]
Serving different content to search engines than to users.,[object Object]
Webmaster Guidelines  Following these guidelines will help Google find, index, and rank your site. Even if you choose not to implement any of these suggestions, we strongly encourage you to pay very close attention to the "Quality Guidelines," which outline some of the illicit practices that may lead to a site being removed entirely from the Google index or otherwise penalized. If a site has been penalized, it may no longer show up in results on Google.com or on any of Google's partner sites. (Factors that affect your website’s ranking)

Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to your websites from search engines via natural or organic search results.   Search engines index millions of web sites and yours can be buried deep within those results if it is not optimized properly. Building a web site or adjusting an existing one so that it comes up on the first pages is what this seminar is about.   Over 80 % of consumers use a search engine to find the product or service they need. To be found by these individuals, your site must first be found by search engines and second, your site must have a high ranking.   If they can’t find you you’re losing business opportunities to your competitors.

  • 7. Webmaster Guidelines Following these guidelines will help Google find, index, and rank your site. Even if you choose not to implement any of these suggestions, we strongly encourage you to pay very close attention to the "Quality Guidelines," which outline some of the illicit practices that may lead to a site being removed entirely from the Google index or otherwise penalized. If a site has been penalized, it may no longer show up in results on Google.com or on any of Google's partner sites. (Factors that affect your website’s ranking)

  • 9. Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.
  • 10. Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.

  • 12. Make sure that your TITLE tags and ALT attributes are descriptive and accurate.
  • 13. Check for broken links and correct HTML.
  • 14. If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few.
  • 15. Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).
