IT’S ME

2. To Be is a stative verb. We use To Be to show the status or
characteristic of someone or something.
This standard sentence is Subject + To Be + Complement.
 To Be can be followed by a noun to show a name, a relationship or a
definition in general.
For example: I am Mary. He is my brother. We are students.
 To Be can be followed by an adjective to show a feeling, a state or a
characteristic.
For example: I am happy. They are retired. My sister is lazy.
 To Be can be followed by a prepositional phrase to show a state or a
position.
For example: I am at home. She is in New York. My parents are on
vacation.
To Be has three forms in the simple present tense: AM, IS, ARE
(information)
(describing)
(place)
