- According to World Economic Forum “Digital enterprises strive continuously to enable new and leaner operating models underpinned by agile business processes, connected platforms, analytics and collaboration capabilities that enhance the productivity of the firm.1” These enterprises arise in the face of digital transformation and all the benefits that come with adoption. Achieving processes that boast agility, connectivity, analytics and collaboration in real time, requires IT to assess their business critical applications and ensure that they are up to date with the functionality needed. Gartner – Digital transformation = Using digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities; it is the process of moving from a traditional to a digital business
- An area of significant change, due to both digital transformation and globalization is Supply Chain Management. According to SAP, businesses need their SCM data and processes streamlined to enable faster planning and execution processes, resulting in more accurate information, reduced latency planning and embedded analytics and decision support; they need agile SCM. To do this, SAP offers, SAP HANA, an in-memory database that streamlines SCM applications for real time supply chain planning and execution.
- Digital Transformation has changed the business landscape. Organizations that want to succeed in the complex, ever changing global economy of now, must understand the interconnected business climate, reassess business processes of yesterday and consider new emerging technologies and how they both impact and support customer demand and business growth. The supply chain network is now global in scope and more complex with many more touchpoints along the way that require the business to be agile, responsive, collaborative and quick. Processes are less predictable, shorter and must meet changing market conditions on demand without disruption. - Complexity has become an ongoing daily struggle for IT.
