Final Assessment
• Translations (15%) must be finished by June
8th – 3 weeks to complete the translation.
(CAPA edital will be out on June 9th.)
• Presentations (10%) will be on June 15th – 1
week to prepare presentation.
Evalation Criteria: Translation (15%)
1. Accuracy – 40 points
2. Resourcefulness (incl. corpus tools, etc.) – 30
points
3. Speed – 10 points
4. Ability to work in a team – 10 points
5. Ability to liaise with author(s) – 10 points
Evaluation Criteria: Presentation (10%)
30 minutes for each group, graded thusly:
• Thoroughness of documentation of translation
process (30 points)
• Presentation of problems and solutions (30
points)
• Evidence of learning/reflection/insight (20)
• Overall clarity of group presentation (10)
• Quality of slides and handout (10)
Discuss your articles in your groups
1. Did you read the article? What did you think in
terms of level of difficulty?
2. You will each have one section of segments to
translate. How will you approach this
translation?
3. Will you just dive into the translation, or will you
prepare some corpus work first, for example?
4. How will the group dynamic work? Will you also
work individually?
Map out a work strategy
Remember: On your blogs
• Post your wordlists (can link to a Word file).
• Write between 150-300 words about the corpus
compiling and the wordlist analysis experience.
• Post your 3-column midterm translations (link to
a Word file), and write a reflection (300-800
words) about what you have learned so far in the
course, not only content, but about yourself as a
translator, and the translation experience in
general.

  • 25. Final Assessment • Translations (15%) must be finished by June 8th – 3 weeks to complete the translation. (CAPA edital will be out on June 9th.) • Presentations (10%) will be on June 15th – 1 week to prepare presentation.
  • 26. Evalation Criteria: Translation (15%) 1. Accuracy – 40 points 2. Resourcefulness (incl. corpus tools, etc.) – 30 points 3. Speed – 10 points 4. Ability to work in a team – 10 points 5. Ability to liaise with author(s) – 10 points
  • 27. Evaluation Criteria: Presentation (10%) 30 minutes for each group, graded thusly: • Thoroughness of documentation of translation process (30 points) • Presentation of problems and solutions (30 points) • Evidence of learning/reflection/insight (20) • Overall clarity of group presentation (10) • Quality of slides and handout (10)
  • 28. Discuss your articles in your groups 1. Did you read the article? What did you think in terms of level of difficulty? 2. You will each have one section of segments to translate. How will you approach this translation? 3. Will you just dive into the translation, or will you prepare some corpus work first, for example? 4. How will the group dynamic work? Will you also work individually?
  • 29. Map out a work strategy
  • 30. Remember: On your blogs • Post your wordlists (can link to a Word file). • Write between 150-300 words about the corpus compiling and the wordlist analysis experience. • Post your 3-column midterm translations (link to a Word file), and write a reflection (300-800 words) about what you have learned so far in the course, not only content, but about yourself as a translator, and the translation experience in general.
