Presentation Topic:
How to teach science???????
Objectives:
• To understand the significance of
science as a subject
• To use appropriate methodologies to
teach science as a subject
• To make teaching more effective and
useful.
• To use modern and innovative
methods to teach science effectively.
Your opinion
Science
• The word science comes from the
Latin word “scientia," means:
“The intellectual and practical activity
encompassing the systematic study
of the structure and behavior of the
physical and natural world through
observation and experiment.”
My Opinion
Science is “Learning by Doing”.
Significance of Science as a subject
At a glance
• Science involves a lot of communication
with other people.
• Science teaches students about the world
around them.
• Science can spark in students' minds that
they, too, can help to solve the world's big
problems.
• Science develops patience and
perseverance in students.
How to Teach Science?
With the help of modern
Teaching Strategies….
What are Teaching strategies?
Types of teaching strategies
• Active teaching strategies
“is a process whereby students engage in
activities, such as reading, writing,
discussion, or problem solving that
promote analysis, synthesis, and
evaluation of class content.”
• Passive teaching strategies
“Only teachers are involved to deliver the
lesson as their prime responsibility.”

Story Telling:
One of the best ways to teach and transfer ideas
is through stories. The best teachers have used
this method in their classes for centuries. Teaching
a lesson by incorporating story-telling techniques
is a fantastic teaching skill to develop at anytime.
An engaged class is the best way to increase
participation and collaboration.
Traditional methods to teach
science
Teacher-centric classrooms.
Teachers are the mode of knowledge
dispensers rather than facilitators.
Chalk and talk methods.
Regimented classrooms.
Advantages of traditional teaching
methods
• Only fit for high classes.
• Easy for teachers.
• Facilitates large-class communication.
• Can be used to arouse interest in a
subject.
• Can complement and clarify text material.
Disadvantages of General/Traditional
Teaching Methodologies

Science learning: How
to teach science???
conclusion
• While traditional teaching methods are
often compared and criticized nowadays
because of the incorporation of
technological advances in modern
teaching methods, one cannot remove
traditional methods entirely to achieve an
effective education. Students and teachers
will benefit more if both traditional and
modern methods are fused together in
order to create a more effective, fun and
interactive learning experience.
