Urban transport exchange hubs play a key role as an integral part of the transport networks by facilitating relations between public transport modes but also have a function in the city urban planning and in-service facilities [1]. Time savings, urban integration, better use of waiting times and improved operating models are some of the expected benefits of developing efficient city-hubs [2,3]. However, although interchanges are crucial for improving accessibility, there are still problems remaining such as seams or bottlenecks, which are mainly reported in the coordination between the different transport modes and the use of the information systems and management model. In order to examine a part of these problems, the three years (September 2012-February 2015) City-HUB consortium of nine European research institutes from nine countries belonging to the European conference of transport research institutes (ECTRI) project studied 27 multimodal interchanges [4].
Presentation by Tom Worsley, Visiting Research Fellow, delivered as part of the annual series of Beesley lectures, organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs at the Institute of Directors in London.
The presentation was illustrated at the CEEM CoP Webinar: “Achieving Low Carbon Mobility: Urban Transportation Modelling, Public Awareness and Behavioural Change" on tge 10th of October 2013
CEEM CoP stands for Community Energy and Emissions Modelling (CEEM) Community of Practice (CoP).
CEEM CoP is an informal group supporting CEEM practitioners and local governments in furthering greenhouse gas modelling, target-setting and action in communities across BC – www.toolkit.bc.ca/ceem
Mobility is an important part of daily life. Progressive community planning and transportation design can greatly reduce the need for automobile travel, instead providing a diverse range of active transportation alternatives.
This presentation on the CATCH project looks at how transportation-related data can be used to understand a city’s travel footprint and help to inform city planning and programs to promote individual behaviour change.
It reviews the findings and lessons learned from the ‘CATCH Project’ (Carbon Aware Travel Choice): a 2 million euro-funded project, involving 11 partners across 6 European Union countries, aimed to develop a knowledge platform to help urban communities move to less carbon-intensive transportation systems. This presentation touches on the important role of developing a system to compare and contrast best practices, identify the many motivators for change to low carbon mobility, and use tools for engaging the public and decision makers to support innovation and change.
Sustainable Urban Transport Planning Considering Different Stakeholder Groups...BME
Sustainable urban transport requires smart and environmentally-friendly technical solutions. It also needs to meet the demands of different user groups, including current and potential future users, in order to avoid opposition of the citizens and to support sustainable development decisions. While these requirements are well-known, conducting full surveys of user needs and preferences are tedious and costly, and the interests of different user groups may be contradictory. We therefore developed a methodology based on the prevalent Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is capable of dealing with the inconsistencies and uncertainties of users’ responses by applying an Interval Analytic Hierarchy Process (IAHP) through comparing the results of passengers to reference stakeholder groups. For a case study in Mersin, a coastal city in southern Turkey with 1.7 Million inhabitants, three groups were surveyed with questionnaires: 40 users of the public transport system, 40 non-users, and 17 experts. Based on interval pairwise comparison matrices, consisting of whole judgments of all groups, the IAHP methodology could attain a consensual preference ranking for a future public transportation system between the three groups. A sensitivity analysis revealed that the factor ranking was very stable.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
2. The result of a social cost-benefit analysis are:
1. An integrated way of comparing the different effects. All relevant costs and benefits of the dif-ferent
project implementations (alternatives) are identified and monetized as far as possible. Ef-fects that
cannot be monetized are described and quantified as much as possible.
2. Attention for the distribution of costs and benefits. The benefits of a project do not always get to the
groups bearing the costs. A social cost-benefit analysis gives insight in who bears the costs and who
derives the benefits.
3. Comparison of the project alternatives. A social cost-benefit analysis is a good method to show the
differences between project alternatives and provides information to make a well informed decision.
4. Presentation of the uncertainties and risks. A social cost-benefit analysis has several methods to take
economic risks and uncertainties into account. The policy decision should be based on cal-culated risk.
