More than half of those surveyed thought students would study magic in schools within 20 years, with fewer than half expecting many primary students to prefer magical studies over science. They believed this is because children dislike subjects like math and prefer more novel options. The group also agreed that in the future, education would incorporate more internet and technology use, with online and Skype-based classes and eBooks replacing physical textbooks. However, magical education was envisioned being located in separate schools using magic-focused books and instructors. Overall, a positive view of the future of education was held, with most anticipating a more "magical" world.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. The topic of the survey was 'Education in the future'. A group of ten people did the survey and in
general they had a lot of imagination about the future. These are some of results.
More than a half of the people think that students will study magic in twenty years, and less than a
half of the people think that when they finish primary school, many children will prefer magical
studies than scientific studies. This is because they also think that children don't like maths,
Spanish... and they prefer studying something different.
Now we are going to talk about technology and education. The group had many ideas in common.
We will learn on the Internet, the classes will be on the 'Skype' and teachers will do the same and
we will have the information of the classes in eBooks. But magic classes are going to be in special
schools and they will need books about magic and good teachers.
Overall, most people were very positive about the future of education and they think that the world
will be a magical site.
