The document discusses how Disney movies can influence perceptions of gender among females. It argues that some Disney films reinforce traditional gender stereotypes by portraying women's main goal as securing a place in a patriarchal society by sacrificing their strengths. However, some elements in films like The Little Mermaid, such as the camp character of Ursula and Ariel gaining both access and a voice in the end, provide a more liberating message and show potential for challenging dominant ideas about gender. Overall, the document examines how Disney portrayals can both reinforce and potentially challenge common stereotypes learned from the media about femininity.

This document discusses factors that may contribute to underachievement among working class students. It acknowledges that both internal school factors and external factors outside of school can play a role. One major external factor is a lack of economic capital in working class families, which can limit access to educational resources. However, the document also discusses internal school factors, such as the use of a more complex "elaborated code" in teaching and assessments that may disadvantage working class students less familiar with this type of language. Both internal and external factors likely interact to influence underachievement.

However, oil companies have sought to maintain their dominance by acquiring competing technologies, lobbying governments, and spreading misinformation about alternatives. While oil will likely continue playing a major role, alternatives may gradually replace it if given a fair chance.

The reconstruction period refers to the time between 1865 and 1877. It refers to the period after
the American civil war where the South of United States wanted to secede and form its country. It
was an opportunity for transformation and a series of changes that were directed by congress.
During this period, the state and society were influenced by different leaders, thinkers and activists
that believed in the post Reconstruction of United States and regarded that African American
upward mobility needed top priority. There were also leaders that were against this movement and
struggled to have their voice heard by congress so that things would remain just as they were.

7. Reflection On Social Justice
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change;
what I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. Injustices can be explained as
something that is not to everybody s benefit, or simply something this is unfair. Going into this
class, I did not know much about social justiceor cities in general. After being in it for a short 3
weeks, I have learned a lot of new material and am excited to learn more. I believe that social
justice is a combination of the opportunities and freedoms within the different socioeconomic
classes.

There are two things that immediately come to mind when I think about social justice in the
real world. Education is one. Typically, people are more prone to go to college if their parents or
siblings go to college. Going back to the topic of East Des Moines, East high school is not a
school that is looked well upon. The teachers are underpaid and most of the students do not care
about their education enough to go to class everyday. Knowing this, students from schools like
that are less likely to go on to college and get an education. This then leads to them not getting
good jobs and making enough money to support themselves. I believe that this is an injustice
because those students do not choose to go to schools like that, but they get started off on the
wrong foot right from the start. People look down on them because of the school they go to. The
other thing I think about when I hear the word social justice is Racism. Segregation is something
that most people don t think is still a problem, but unfortunately it is. They view segregation as an
unfortunate holdover from a racist past, one that is fading progressively overtime (Massey 1).
African American people that live in rougher neighborhoods, Chicago for example, are usually in
the lower socioeconomic class. Being an African American in the lower socioeconomic class
makes it easy for white people to look down on them. Briana Gibson grew up in the rough part of

However as time progressed toward the 1860s, the North and South proved to differentiate among

contributing to many long term conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure,
osteoarthritis, diabetes and cancer (Pennybacker 15). Along with the fact that obesity is the most

population. According to Food Fight, one study found that 23 percent of all deaths from major
chronic disease could be attributed to sedentary lifestyle (Brownell 70). The lack of exercise is
one of the main causes of obesity in the United States. Another possible contribution to obesity,
which is still in the process of being further researched, is genetics. According to the Office of

risk factor for obesity. It was also pointed out that genetic factors are starting to be questioned in

The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s
The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred
because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output
fell dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of
directly stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began
many large industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive
industrial scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the
land and generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another
example of government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA),
which attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These
federal programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the
government s approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation

16. Descartes And Descartes s Theories Of Skepticism And...
Every person has a unique answer to so called life questions, but experts like Blaise Pascal and
Rene Descartes have examined and reasoned with the norms of the enlightenment era. The
theologians and philosophers during that time have produced such popular works that they have
been used as a foundation for reason today. In Pascal s Pensees, and Descartes Discourse on
Method, they take steps to examining and reflecting on their own answers to life questions. If
Pascal and Descartes conversed with each other about skepticismand searching for the truth, their
approaches would be different and highly critical of each other, but their conclusions would be the
same.
A life question is one that produces an answer entirely dependent on the individual. Descartes wrote
a Discourse on Method, which is his philosophy on how to answer such questions. Pascal wrote
Pensees, which is his thought process on how to answer them as well. Both Pascal and Descartes
address the issue of skepticism in opposing ways. Descartes, as a skeptic, produces a thinking
process to analyze doubt until the truth is found. Pascal takes a more critical approach to skeptics
and reveals that a genuine skeptic has never existed. A skeptics argument to find one s purpose
through natural reason is not possible, but that God will give you faith through your heart,
according to Pascal.
Descartes begins his journey for reason by reaching an intense state of thought. By locking himself
in a room, he landed on a

17. Reflection Paper On Theology
Generally speaking this course led me to contrast the Wesleyan doctrine with specific questions
raised by opposing theological viewpoints. The real world scenarios presented in the weekly
assignments provided valuable context to the application of biblical interpretation to answer
questions concerning details of the hope Jesushas promised. These inquiries ranging from limits of
justification and gifts, to the biblical truth regarding the Church here and in the next life, will
continue to be of great value as I am utilized to make disciples of all people.
To begin, week one s position paper challenged me to dig at the underlying reason many would be
afraid they have committed the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I asserted the root
of the issue is not that one is a believer who is tormented by committing an unforgivable sin; it is
a lack of faith that Christ has forgiven all their sin. The scenario given was not unfamiliar to me
of a person who believes Jesus is Lord, but due to lack of knowledge cannot trust Jesus as their
Lord. Though the initial scenario dealt with salvation, I can apply the same lack of faith being
an issue in any area of my own life. I have recognized that areas of struggle in my own life have
persisted due to a lack of faith in the process, even though I had faith in salvation. Realizing that
until I stand in faith specifically for the situation at hand, many times I will not possess the
breakthrough I have prayed for. I was reminded through this assignment that often the stated issue
is only an effect of a deeper dilemma. The lack of trust situation, as well as the accompanying
scenario regarding spiritual gifts, was caused by Scripture received out of context. The stance as to
why someone would be scared they are beyond God s forgiveness due to blasphemy would be
based on translations of: Mark 3:29, Matthew 12:31, Luke 12:10 not taken in context with the rest
of scripture. I concluded the misunderstanding of the gifts of the Spirit, was a case of cherry
picking scriptures by the subject to substantiate his view point. I found applying Wesley s teachings
of contextual study of Scripture to such a real world situation of great practical value (Oden, 2012,

Currently, three prominent ideologies dominate the governing style of the world today: socialism,
liberalism and conservatism. Many political groups and leaders often follow or claim to follow a
specific ideology. On the other side of the spectrum for those who follow one ideology specific,
there are some individuals that knowingly or unknowingly that follow none and focus on
practicality of ideas. Those individuals are referred to as pragmatist. According to Encyclopædia
Britannica, pragmatism is based on the principle that emphasis on the usefulness, workability, and

In Tony Blairs Socialist Manifesto (1994), he reinvents the idea of social ism in order to fit the
ideology to the world since the economic and social interests of people are constantly evolving.
After World War II, the economy became a lot more global, the service industry grew and there has
been an increase in human rights movements as the public have been less progressive. Aligned with
the ideas of socialism , Blair supports a concept called the Third Way which is based on the idea
of combining center right economics and center left social policies ( The Third Way , n.d).The
idea was developed by Anthony Giddens, the sociologist and director of the London School of
Economics, he argued that the reformist governments could no longer rely only on the ideas of
complete social and economic state control in the face of the forces and finances of
globalization. Therefore, Giddens proposed an idea that would support center policies, but also
remain committed to radical measures. Blair refers to the third way as his version of socialism
which is in favor of economic growth and entrepreneurship as well greater state intervention to
improve social justice and equality among civilians ( UK Politics: What is the Third Way, n.d.).

Best Buy in China
China s consumer electronics market is similar to the early markets in the U.S. They put a huge
priority and focus on products and prices. Having an ever growing middle class, China
represented an incredibly profitable opportunity for Best Buy. Eventually, Best Buy extended into
the Chinese market in 2006, after three years of studying and identifying the market, by taking a
majority stake in Jiangsu Five Star Appliance Co., a local retail chain, for $180 million. Operations
started with opening and introducing branded stores. These are the stores that mimicked the
American style layout (very large). In addition, they made sure they had the most knowledgeable
associates and did not offer any type of commission, just like in America. Best Buy had envisioned
a huge return from entering into the International scene, but the expected surge of customers, never
seem to come to fruition. After being open for six years, they only occupied a 1.8% share of the
market. Eventually Best Buy shut down all branded stores in 2011.

21. Sensing Nodes in Batteries
Multi hop communication makes use of the fat that a WSN contains a large number of sensing
nodes. So, the sensed data of nodes can be sent to the base station after passing through a number of
nearest neighbor s nodes rather than directly transmitting to it. This strategy, in turn, saves the
energy of the sensing nodes and thus contributes a lot to the battery life of the nodes.
1.3PARAMETERS DEFINIG PERFORMANCE OF WIRELESS SENSORNETWORKS
1.3.1POWER OR ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Power efficiency is the first factor that directly affects the performance of the nodes and hence of
the overall sensor network. For better and desired performance, the nodes of a WSN must be
efficient in terms of power which in simple words means that the duty cycle of the nodes must be
made small [5]. The design considerations must take into account the sleeping mode of the nodes
when there is no activity thereby reducing power consumption and contributing to performance
enhancement. However, the sleep mode of nodes has the main disadvantage that if any of the nodes
remains in the sleep mode for a significant chunk of time, it is likely that communication with
neighbors nodes may come to a halt. Also, a reduced duty cycle for the network nodes leads to
threatening the network reliability. The data as well as the control packets that maintain the routing
and communication among the nodes of the sensor network will also have a delayed reception.
Efficient use of power also increases the battery timing or

From colonial times there were differences in geography that gave rise to variations in culture and
economy in the United States. Due to the differing characteristics, a sectional economy molded the
United States into two distinct regions: the north and the south. The north, a commercial society,
which supported industry and commerce while the south, an agrarian civilization, flourished in the
production of raw materials with use of slaves. The two economies were both self supporting and
capable to create a stronger, more productive nation. The regional differences sought to build
America, in turn threatened to destroy it. Many Historians believe that the Civil War was

Along with the demand for cotton came a demand for labor. Black slaves from Africa were used to
hand pick cotton in cotton fields, a tedious and daunting job. After Eli Whitney s invention of the
cotton gin, cotton production skyrocketed from the average 3,000 bails per year to 300,000 bails
per year. Unlike the north, the south lacked transportation improvements such as railways, roads,
and water canals. In contrast to the many economical differences of the industrial north and
agrarian south, few similarities arise in the struggle of sectionalism. Both the societies consisted of
utilization of trade, westward expansion, and the use of unskilled labor. The north s industrial
businesses such as textile industries demanded the south s production of cotton in order to maintain
its market with oversees buyers. Also, the fight for westward land was among the many conflicts
between the north and the south. And the use of unskilled labor was highly shared between these
two economies. In the south, the use of untrained African slaves was its main entity to economic
success. Like the south, the north used amateur workers in its industries to boost its production.
Among the economies of the north and south arose many conflicts that led to the tension of the
Civil War in 1861. In the 1800s, slavery was a major sectional issue. Northerners were strongly
opposed to slavery unlike the south s belief that slavery was economically beneficial.

She makes the country more appealing and dependable upon their support when she gives it a

The computer, one of the icons of the information age, has become an integral part of society.
Email has replaced snail mail, online videos have replaced the tape cassette, and social media
has replaced the village square. In his essay Postscript on the Societies of Control, the French
philosopher Gilles Deleuze argues that the rise of the computer heralds the transition from a
disciplinary society to a control society, where people are no longer viewed as individuals, but as
dividuals, like data points in a system. In her book How We Became Posthuman, Katherine Hayles
gives examples of the dividualizing effect computers have on individuals. Deleuze s control society
stands in contrast to the older disciplinary societies outlined by another French philosopher, Michel
Foucault. In his book Discipline and Punish, Foucault describes what he terms a panopticon, a
system in which a large number of subjects are observed from a central location, knowing that they
may be observed but not knowing when they are, in an effort to induce them to self discipline their
own behavior. The panopticon forms the basis of a disciplinary society, which uses panoptic
institutions such as school, prisons, and hospitals to encourage individuals to conform to certain
standards and norms (e.g. learned, law abiding, healthy). In the article The Subject and Power ,
Foucault further discusses the power relationships that underlie such disciplinary societies,

Managers can learn a lot from the positives and negatives of scientific management. In modern
organisations, increasing efficiency is always a desirable outcome, however case studies involving
scientific management highlight the danger of focussing on efficiency at the expense of employees

management, the branch of classical management concerned with the organisation as a whole
(Davidson et al, 2009).
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) described fourteen basic principles of management, which provide the
basis for the four basic categories planning, leading, organising and controlling used in most
contemporary management books (Davidson et al, 2009). Under Fayol s system, the management
process goes beyond the basic hierarchical model developed by Taylor. The command function
continues to operate effectively through a series of co ordination and control methods. Regular
managerial meetings were recommended to improve co ordination of organisational operations

contemporary managers to examine their behaviours against (Davidson et al, 1995).

36. A Clockwork Orange Dystopia
In today s society, there is an evil that hides in the minds of rulers, governments even everyday
people. This evil lies in the crimes committed by thousands of people each year, the corruption of
governments, and the suffering of innocent people. The laws and regulations that we live by today
are put in place in order to prevent crime from encompassing everything people hold dear to stop
the bad people. In the story of A Clockwork Orangethe narrator, Alex, gives us a criminal s view of

By Rebecca Solnit, I have come to realize that my modern day life is not far from that of Alex s.
Throughout the process of reading this book I was shocked many times by the everyday acts of evil
against innocent people. It is sad to know that they are so common in our world today. Acts such as
robbery, rape and murder happen every day, and they don t always just take one thing from the
victims. As Alex often shows us, during the process of evil acts the victims are dehumanized
and beaten. The laws and regulations put in place today are supposed to protect people from
ever experiencing these horrid acts, yet even in Alex s story, little justice is done for those who
suffer. Society brings out the best and worst in people and often puts people in desperate
situations, allowing the darkness to come forth. People have become selfish, cold and heart less
without a care for the people around them. Our society and government today have created
monsters and have done so without giving any type of cure or proper treatment to bring them
back into the light. The darkness and evil that had consumed Alex is the same as the darkness
that is in our very world today. The world of darkness is breaking through the fake seams of
society that present a false picture of happiness, and if our government and people all over the
world do not make a change, it will consume us

During the Great Depression many Americans suffered in various ways with some of the most
prevalent being lack of food, education, clothing, and shelter. Within the transcript Lending a

depression recalls some of what she calls bums from the time. She describes a family that while
traveling didn t have clothing for their children, enough food for the parents to eat, or a way to get
to their option for shelter. This family was an example of just how much some were suffering

History shows Egyptians wearing wigs, but those of means had human hair sewn into their own
hair. Powdered wigs graced royal heads during the (), and the elaborate hairstyles of the Victorian,
Edwardian and the Gilded Age were artistic creations that were impossible without hair pieces. For
every era there are elaborate techniques for adding hairwhere needed or desired and as styles repeat
themselves, ancient hair weaving techniques have returned as today s hair extensions. Millions of
women will spend time and money on chemical curls, permanent relaxers and dyes to hide age or
draw attention. While these maneuvers change the hair s appearance, they do not change the one
thing that many men watch for, the length.
Wigs give their wearers immediate gratification, but wig caps can be drying, inexpensive synthetic
wigs can look unnatural, and human hair wigs can be too expensive. Add the wear and tear of
having a wig s cap rubbing against the hair and length gained through patience can be lost to
breakage. When modern women consider temporary length, hair extensions are often the answer.
However, choosing high quality, human hair extensions means understanding human hair itself.

Art 201 Professor WilsonMay 6th 2012
Final Paper Comparison between two works of art
Pompeo Girolamo Batoni Diana and Cupid 1761 and Corrado Giaquinto The Lamentation 1740 s
Neoclassical Art was an art form that followed the Baroque and Rococo art periods.
Neoclassicism was a way for artists to display their wish to return to meaningful art, to escape the
frivolity of landscapes and still life paintings, and paint something that had a moral, educational or
inspirational value to the viewer. Neoclassical art was an attempt to return knowledge and purity
back to art. Neoclassicism was mainly focused on Greek and Roman arts and stories of the
classical era with some new advancement. It was a revival of antiquity. In Pompeo ... Show more

In each of these works you can clearly see a loving gaze between subjects. In Diana and Cupid,
Diana is gazing so lovingly and playfully at Cupid, while Cupid is staring at his bow his hand is
placed upon her leg for support while reaching for it. In The Lamentation, only an angel is
touching the body of Jesus, holding his hand, but the other main figure in the painting has her
hands clasped together and is gazing at Jesus in a loving yet mournful way. The use of color in
the paintings can easily be compared and contrasted. Both works are fairly repetitive in their color
use, and the colors chosen are clear indicators for where the artist wants the viewer to look. For
example in Diana and Cupid her clothing is a bright vibrant red, and while there are many other
beautiful colors throughout the painting none are quite as vibrant as the red used. This clearly
shows that the human figure is the main subject of the art. In The Lamentation the use of color is
a little different, it would seem that the artist used color on all of the other subjects except for
Jesus naked body which in turn I believe makes Jesus stand out from the picture, because there is
color used everywhere but on Jesus you focus in on him while all of the other subjects are kind of
blending together. In each of the paintings the artist also uses the shadowing technique. The use of
light and dark is captivating in The Lamentation; a lot of it has to

VICE and Thomas Morton use countless images of pathos such as rotten fruit, empty farming
fields with tomatoes laying to waste, overflowing mailboxes at an abandoned trailer park, and
an empty place of employment that use to be filled with immigrant workers. The images of
rotting fruit invokes a feeling of waste among most because the epidemic of hunger is a well
known problem across the US. The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing
that it was once populated with immigrant workers. Thomas Morton states, ... once populated

pathos is an interview with a resident of the virtually abandoned trailer park who states, Many of

because they were brown (VICE). This is an effective piece of rhetoric because it evokes

Malmar McKnight s The Storm
Malmar McKnight s frightening story, The Storm , weaves a violent storm and murder together to
heighten the horrific fears that engulf Janet Willsom. The Storm is a combination of Mother
Nature, Janet s emotions, and her heartbreaking dilemmas. The eerie mood is revealed throughout
the story. Figurative language helps the reader bring the story to life in his/ her mind. The author s
use of irony is devolved through Janet s changed perception of the storm.
Throughout the story, the mood becomes more suspenseful. As Janet walks out of the strong spring

She also thinks that she sees a face in the window. As she enters the damp, musty, ill lit cellaryou
can feel the suspense building. Malmar continues to use these types of images up to the conclusion
of the story.
The author uses a lot of figurative language throughout the story. The forceful wind is compared to
a dog shaking a rat between its teeth. As Janet tried to calm herself, the idea that a dead woman
was in the basement of her house began to beat at her like a flail. The idea that she was frozen
with freight was illustrated by her body being like a drawn bow. Examples of more figurative
language can be found throughout the text.
The most obvious idea of irony is the storm itself. In the beginning of the story, Janet felt the
storm was scary and her house and husband were the only areas of safety. She had confined herself
to one area of the house and snuggled in her husband s coat to keep the storm from surrounding her.
At the end when her husband frightened her, Janet no longer felt safe at home or with her husband.
So she ran out into the raging storm for protection from within. It is ironic that the storm in the
beginning was her greatest fear and in the end, it became her greatest ally.

have. It has a story line that gains suspense throughout the story, there is irony, and there is lots of

A crash in america may be coming a lot sooner than many people think. The United States of
America is facing problems a lot of people are either unaware of or just dont think its a big deal.
Most of america think that our economy and government is in alright financial shape, That may
not be the case though. America is in bad shape and it seems to be going down hill. America is
declining in world power as well and this is just another factor leading to a crash in the future.
Other nations are growing a lot more powerful than they have been in the past causing very big
problems as a nation.
There are a lot of people that think they have very solid arguments that america is in fine shape
and no one has any reason to worry. They think the problems people talk about are no big deal amd
that the nation can deal with them no problem. These reasons have some truth but for the most part
they have a lot of things that other nations are in control of. The United States debt is over 19
trillion dollars, that is an insane amount of money and it is going up rapidly. People think this is
ok because the US prints its own money so it is in control of its currency and debt. This is not a
very good thing to think because if the United States tried to get out of debt by printing trillions
more dollars than usual there would be a massive increase in inflation. Another argument is that
Obama added to the debt to get the United States out of a recession. He did do this but it also

Introduction In this experiment, the focus will be the synthesis and characterization of biodiesel

the petroleum based biodiesel. By having renewable resources such as corn, soybeans, peanuts and
other makes biodiesela viable option. Using these resources wouldn t help alleviate the problems
with fossil fuel in the US. Biodiesel is produced from the transesterification reaction of vegetable
oil. Transesterification is the reversible reaction where one ester is converted into another by
exchanging an ester group with an alcohol in the presence of a base.
Experimental
According to the Laboratory Manual, there are multiple steps. We will need 50mL vegetable oil,
10mL methanol, 0.5mL 9M NaOH, diesel fuel, salt and ice. For preparation of Biodiesel, various
types of oil were available for synthesizing biodiesel. Measure 50mL of biodiesel into a 250mL
beaker. Second, add a clean magnetic stir bar to the oil and the place the beaker on a stirring
hotplate. Adjust the stirring rate so that the solution is being well mixed without splashing and turn
heat on low. Third, while the mixture is heating prepare a solution of methanol and sodium
hydroxide. Measure 10mL of methanol into a small beaker. Add 0.5mL of 9M NaOH to the
methanol. Fourth, heat the mixture to 50C. As soon as the oil reaches 50C, turn off heat, but

From the early to mid 20th century, the U.S. underwent severe economic changes due to the
internal problems. A system of laissez faire does not protect the people in the most damaging
recession, the Great Depression. A shift from Hoover to FDR, leads to reform in the New Deal.
Later in World War II, the U.S. will isolate itself to focus on the internal economy. The changes
in the economy reflected back into the world and into domestic policy. Internally, reform and
relief will bring back the nation and the focus of internal economy would create global problems.

became reliant on federal aid, FDR set the government as a welfare government, helping the
people out of their economic crises. Along with the New Deal, Americans are also practicing
FDR s policy of isolationism. This again establishes U.S. s role of a world power. The U.S. s

the U.S. creates the Neutrality Acts, which prevents Britain and France from receiving war

48. Advantage And Disadvantages Of Globalisation
Globalisation
Globalisation is the emerging inter connectedness of the world due to the integration of trade and
communication technologies across international borders, which allows for socio cultural
developments as a result of the increase in everyday internet use, as well as the interaction between
people, companies and governments of different natures. Globalisation can also be seen as the
internationalisation of design due to the free movements of products, services and assets, which
enabled products to be planned, assembled and distributed in completely different countries.
Globalisation is not a new concept, but many believe that the rate of globalisation has increased
dramatically in the last few years. This is mainly due to two developments. Governments have
initiated free market economies which decrease the number of barriers standing in the way of
international trade and investment and technology has provided people with new tools to identify
opportunities, analyse trends, transfer assets and communicate with partners in different countries.
Globalisation ensures that there is a greater variety of products that are more readily available
across the world and promotes a decrease in poverty, as international factories will need to be run
by employees that live in that area. Globalisation also promotes a transfer of skills, as technologies,
techniques and materials can be introduced to countries that had not yet been exposed to them.

50. Psychological Research On Aggression And New Evidence
As Humans, we use the word aggression in our day to day conversation to characterize our
behavior and perhaps behaviors of others. We conclude that people are aggressive if they scream
at or hit another individual, however, other harmful acts such as the killing of enemy soldiers
during the war might be regarded as an aggressive act by everyone. Social psychologists have spent
lots of time trying to determine what should be considered aggressionand reasons why individuals
exhibit aggressive behaviors towards other. Hence, for many decades social psychologists have
carried out various psychological research on aggression and new evidence has emerged on the
problems that researchers are exploring the fundamental construct of aggression for a long time
continue to experience, raising new questions and posing new perspectives about aggressive
behaviors. Social psychologists describe aggression as any behavior that has an intent to harm
another individual who does not demand to be harmed (Baron Richardson, 1994). However, it is
crucial to understand the distinction between mental or physical pain inflicted in the line of duty
and which might be viewed as aggression but with a proximate intent of helping others (Fiske,
2008). Hence, what others may perceive as aggression from one point of view may not be
considered aggressive behavior from other perspectives and the same harmful behavior may or
may not be regarded as aggressive depending on the intent of the aggressor. For

This idea, known as social Darwinism, in Austria Hungary perhaps further strengthened the want by
various ethnic groups to leave Austria Hungary. Additionally, a group which the Austro Hungarians
controlled were the Serbs, who were placed under their control after the Bosnian crisis of 1908. In
the Bosnian crisis, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina, against the approval of
Serbia( Bosnian crisis of 1908 ). Because Austria Hungary didn t have the approval of the
Serbians, the connection between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was broken. Serbia was
connected to Bosnia and Herzegovina because the countries had ethnic and geographic similarities.
It seems likely that these connections limited the conflicts between Serbia and Bosnia, lowering
the tension in the Balkan region. However, the annexation by Austria Hungary created a barrier
between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia because the Serbians already had previous hatred for
Austria Hungary. This separation angered Serbia to an extent where Serbia demanded a portion of
the annexed land be given to them. Austria declined, and soon after threatened to invade Serbia if
