This presentation helps small and medium sized business become a more profitable business by helping them increase their energy efficiency.
SMEs are struggling with the ever rising energy costs that are adding to the overhead. It is also hard to get a proper handle on analysing bills and managing energy in a small to medium sized organisation as there is no money for a dedicated person to manage this area. And increasingly customers expect businesses to do the right thing and to be more sustainable. At the intersection of these three forces is the fear that competitors might do a better job.
This presentation helps SMEs think about ways on how they can manage their energy consumption so they spend less on utilities. This increases the bottom line and as a side effect, the business also understands and controls their energy consumption. If the success stories are shared well, customers will think positively about the company, which will further increase profits. Businesses will feel so much more confident about doing their bit and will have a more profitable business by following the steps that are outlined in this presentation.
USC - Carbon Management Plan - An overview of the development processBarbara Albert
This presentation shows an overview of the development process of the Carbon Management Plan for the University of the Sunshine Coast, which 100% Renewables developed with the University.
This presentation shows how organisations can transition to 100% renewable energy in four steps, starting from "Step 1 - Lead" to "Step 4 - Succeed".
It illustrates the rapid uptake of renewables and how more and more organisations and local governments are setting themselves the goal of 100% renewable energy.
The presentation also shows an example pathway.
The four-step methodology is part of a book called "Energy Unlimited", written by sustainability professional Barbara Albert, which is due for release in September 2016.
Barbara Albert - The story behind Energy Unlimited - Presentation to Australi...Barbara Albert

Barbara Albert - Demystifying the pathway to 100% renewable energy for local...Barbara Albert
Barbara Albert held this presentation at the inaugural Renewable Cities Australia conference on 2 June 2016. When considering 100% renewable energy, most local governments worry about how much this will cost and how to finance it, what they should do and when and how they can get the necessary support. By following the 4-step method of Barbara's upcoming book, municipalities will be able to develop a plan of staged energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities that have the support of councillors and management and can be financed using innovative methods. The presentation also shows example pathways of two regional local governments and the advantages they have over metropolitan ones.
This was the presentation during B4E in Mexico where I presented the project Low Carbon Leaders for transformative solutions and the app linked to this.

Case studies of local governments in NSW ramping up renewablesBarbara Albert
Barbara Albert from 100% Renewables is presenting three case studies of local governments in NSW ramping up renewables.
Barbara highlights nearly 25 cities and local governments in Australia who have committed to be either carbon neutral or to source 100% of their electricity from renewables. Three case studies describing the initiatives being undertaken by Councils within their operations and in the community are also presented.
This presentation talks about the what, the why, and the how of managing carbon. It starts with climate change science and then moves on to Australia’s emission profile and how to reduce emissions. It gives an overview of the carbon pricing mechanism that has passed through both houses of parliament and how this affects companies. It will also give an overview on carbon accounting and carbon management/reduction.
This presentation gives an overview of the carbon pricing mechanism that has been announced by the Australian government. It talks about Australia’s pollution profile and emissions, the expected changes with a price on carbon, carbon tax versus emissions trading schemes, how the carbon price will work, the biggest polluters in Australia, the changes that will be implemented, the carbon pricing mechanism explained and the impact for companies.
This is a presentation I gave on 23 March 2011 to a cluster of companies ranging from manufacturers, a race course company, councils, an electricity provider, to a lawyer and accountancy practice. It talks about how to achieve carbon neutrality and the different offsets one can buy. Key messages are that carbon neutrality is not for everyone, that you have to define your boundaries clearly and be transparent about them, and that you should only buy reputable offsets. Throughout the presentation I make it clear that the focus should be on carbon MANAGEMENT; it is always better to avoid and reduce carbon emissions first before offsets are bought.
Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
Micro RNA genes and their likely influence in rice (Oryza sativa L.) dynamic ...Open Access Research Paper
Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Rice grain quality, yield, disease tolerance, climate-resilience and palatability properties are not exceptional to miRN Asmutations effects. There are new insights courtesy of high-throughput sequencing and improved proteomic techniques that organisms’ complexity and adaptations are highly contributed by miRNAs containing regulatory networks. This article aims to expound on how rice miRNAs could be driving evolution of traits and highlight the latest miRNA research progress. Moreover, the review accentuates miRNAs grey areas to be addressed and gives recommendations for further studies.
