There are only 1,141 tigers left in the wild. The tiger population has declined significantly, with 3 of the original 8 subspecies becoming extinct in the last 60 years due to loss of habitat and poaching. Tigers are important to conserve for both ecological and cultural reasons - they play a key role in the environment, support livelihoods, bring rain, are a symbol of national pride, and protect genetic diversity. With efforts to spread awareness, donate to anti-poaching initiatives, and buy forest-friendly products, there is hope that we can help save the remaining tiger populations.
