Sports Is The Form Of Competitive Physical Activity
Sports is the form of competitive physical activity that has the objective of maintaining or
improving physical ability and psychological health on one hand and the aim of providing
enjoyment on the other. Sports forms an integral part of modern life as it boosts the economy of

Regaining Control in Anna Karenina Essay
Regaining Control in Anna Karenina
Anna Karenina features significant clusters of scenes, all of which describe notable moments in the
development of the novel s major figures. One of the most important clusters is when Anna travels
to see Vronsky. On her way her perceptions change; she throws her searchlight upon herself.
Arriving at the next station she sees the rails and knows what must be done.
Anna has had control over her own life taken away from her, due to the societal limitations on her
choices as a woman. She becomes resentful of the society she lives in, and turns that frustration on
the unsympathetic Vronsky, who retains his own freedom as well as control over her own
happiness. She is too proud and passionate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anna is not willing to accept a position of meekness, as Dolly does. She is, in her position,
expected to stay at home while Vronsky has the freedom of an unmarried man. With the
advantage of marriage, Vronsky would be forced to treat her as a wife, as a respectable woman,
but as it is, he does not have to. He instead treats her as a mistress valuable when entertaining, but
potentially a real drag on one s social life. Vronsky believes in the submissive role of women,
and his opposition to their having the liberty that he enjoys makes Anna crazy. Vronsky
disapproves of high schools for girls and Anna sees this as a slight toward her own occupations
(773). Tolstoy plays dumb by saying that this issue was not close to the heart of either, but in fact,
breaking the woman s traditional place what Anna has spent the past few years doing. If Anna had
her own education she would not be trapped with bound hands in her present position.
After Anna has swallowed her own opinion for the sake of preserving harmony, Vronsky looks at
her penitnent, meek expression and perceives that she is in one of her good moods. (774). A good
mood is when she assumes the feminine role and takes the blame for everything that is wrong with
the relationship. He actually perceives her as being happier this way. He cannot seem to understand
why a woman would want more than to be

How Did Ernest Hemingway Revolutionize What An Author...
Ernest Miller Hemingway was an American author, short story writer, and journalist. He was an
influential author in the 20th century. He was unlike many other novelists who wrote out very
long intricate sentences. Hemingway revolutionizes what an author should be like. Which is why
many people fell in love with his economical and modesty style of writing. His life of adventure
and the view of the public influenced later generations. However, at the highest point of his
literary career, Hemingway s body and mind were beginning to betray him. He suffered from
depression and was treated for many severe conditions such as high blood pressure and liver
disease. Late 1900s, Hemingway committed suicide in his Ketchum home.

Metric System Benefits
Contention 1: Numerous Benefits
Assists Globalization If the US adopted the metric system, many businesses and industries would
benefit.
The United States is now the only industrialized country in the world that does not use the metric
system as its predominant system of measurement. Judge, that is 95% of the world s total
manufacturing business that uses a different, more precise, and better method than the one we use
to manufacture goods.
As a study from Cambridge University in 2015 states, if the US switched to the metric system,
thousands of new jobs would be created This is because the US workforce will be more prepared to
work in the international marketplace and industrial affairs with other countries would be much
stronger than what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metric system also avoids the use of multiple units for the same quantity; for instance, the inch
pound system s multiple units for volume include teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces, etc.
Contention 2: Adoption of Metric System is Feasible Thinking metric won t be hard
Judge, the metric system is a very simple unit of measurement that is simple to understand because
it is easy to convert and easy to use.
Also, schools are already teaching the metric system along with the English system in day to day
classes. Aside from education, almost all, water bottles, thermometers, and food bags already
include metric measurements along side them.
Thinking metric is easy. For example, thinking metric for temperature means relating zero degrees
Celsius with the freezing point of water, 20 degrees Celsius with room temperature, 37 degrees
Celsius with body temperature, and 100 degrees Celsius with the boiling points of water.

The Death Of Cartoon Television Tv Show
As a long time fan of classic, nostalgia filled cartoons of the 80 s, 90 s and early 2000 s it s sad
to say the days of Saturday morning cartoons have been laid to rest. Or rather abruptly terminated
would be a better way to put it. The death of cartoon tv TV show blocks has been tucked away in
the box of many young children (mainly of the male demographic) right next to infrared
peripherals, and chewed up and worn action figures that accommodated them. Though unlike many
dying forms of media, the influence of Saturday morning cartoons still continues. First things first,
modern cartoons have difficulty embodying the same type of in depth, adult themed, bro mantic
adventures that older cartoons thrived off of. Take for example the original Transformers series.

Arabian Nights Characters Analysis
The frame story of The Arabian Nights is set up with the kings encounters with their wives and the
demon s woman. Linked by the emphasis on promiscuity as a shared characteristic of all the women
concerned, and structurally by the repetition of the act of betrayal and the humiliation of men, the
message is clear: womans sexuality and promiscuity can not be controlled.
Opening with the story of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad and their wives, we are first introduced
to the themes of betrayal and the promiscuity of women. Here are two kings living in different
cities, far from each other, experience similar circumstances. Their women, having betrayed them,
make love to their slaves once King Shahrayar and Shahrazad are gone. This is the first sign of the
king s changing their perspective on women and both acting rashly on their own feelings.
How will it be and what will happen behind my back when I go to visit my brother in India? No.
Women are not to be trusted. He got exceedingly angry, adding, By God,I am king and sovereign in
Samarkand, yet my wife has betrayed me and has inflicted this on me. As his anger boiled, he
drew his sword and struck both his wife and cook. Then he dragged them by the heels and threw
them from the top of the palace to the trench below. (pg 6)
As seen through both King Sharhrazard words of Women are not to be trusted. and actions of
murdering his wife and cook that these action, although seemingly justified, are rash and are based

Richard Neustadt Research Paper
Joseph Tadrous Professor Derek POLI SCI January 15, 2017 Lincoln Many U.S citizens think
that the president is all powerful and he rules everyone for his oval office, but in fact he has
limited power, those powers were set by Richard Neustadt. Neustadt was a political science
expert. He was also a presidential advisor for many presidents. Richard Neustadt was born on
june 26 1919. He went to Harvard and berkeley. Neustadt has many very interesting point on U.S
president s power. Neustadt focuses on three important traits that any president must have to be
able to succeed in the oval office, the power to persuade, his professional reputation and his public
prestige. All of these traits help in the passing and success of the president s 4 8... Show more

The better the reputation of the president, the easier it will be to negotiate. There are people in
agencies and departments that have a huge amount of power and can have a huge force on the
president. There is an example that Neustadt illustrates to show a president s reputation being
questioned Neustadt stated Eisenhower s secretary of treasury George Humphrey publicly
questioned the integrity of some of Eisenhower s changes to the budget for that year of 1957. The
very public scrutiny by Humphrey, caused a national questioning of the budget and coarsely the
reputation of Eisenhower . Although Humphrey s words may not have been justified, Eisenhower s
reputation was scarred nonetheless . The president must always act and keeping in mind that there
are those powerful enough to publicly embarrass him. The last and important thing of presidential
power that Neustadt explains is public prestige. Public prestige is related to the president s
reputation. Public prestige is basically how the public views the president. Even though the public
has no direct link with the president, the public s view of the president affects how congress will act

A Dream In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun

Mama s dream is the most deserving because she has suffered the longest, carried her family up

Not authentic in the form of physically real, but regarding the genuine and honorable side that
we saw possibly the most often from her. Wrapping up the first scene in fact, Mama turned to
both verbal and physical forms to defend herself after slapping Beneatha she calmly brought
herself to say Repeat after me in my mother s house there is still a God. (I. ii) Although the
physical swing may have been excessive, Mama stood up for her religious beliefs and simply
would not accept the disrespect from a younger family member due to her devoted faith.
Leaping all the way back to scene three Mama s comment is humorous in some ways when she
states My son said we was going to move and there ain t nothing left for me to say. You know
how these young folks is nowadays, mister. Can t do a thing with em. Goodbye. (II. iii) The
humor in this is that Mama is kind to strangers and welcoming to any, but when this man
attempted to segregate an area and remove them from being near him she made sure the man
understood how she felt. Countless times in the story we see her stick up to others but when she
acts as if she can t control Walter, I personally laughed because I can imagine the snooty rich man
with the briefcase and Mama in her powerful stance acting as if her hands were tied, allowing
Walter to act childish to drive away the rich man. The scene

The Life Of Reason By George Santayana
Here s an experiment for you. Ask the next 10 people you meet about what comes to mind when
they think of the word disaster. I did, and you ll probably get answers similar to the ones that I
received: war, hurricane, earthquake, etc. Not a single person got anywhere close to housing crisis,
and unless you work at a mortgagelender or economic think tank, you re probably not going to get
that answer either. This is despite the fact that anybody on the receiving end of that question has
probably not experienced a severe earthquake or hurricane, yet has felt the impact of the 2008
housing bubble simply by being a participant in the economy.
In The Life of Reason, novelist George Santayana wrote the now famous phrase, those who cannot
remember the past are condemned to repeat it. That holds true for housing crises, specifically the
one in 2008. Less than a decade after the world economy nearly collapsed, the vast majority of us
still don t understand what happened or why it happened. Some of us do know, but choose not to
care. Both are equally dangerous.
Housing crises are avoidable. They are borne out of lapses in judgment from three main groups:
lenders that do not make responsible lending decisions, buyers that do not make responsible
buying decisions, and governments that do not make responsible legislation to govern either of the
former parties. Each of them needs to be addressed in order to avoid repeating a sordid, destructive
past.

The Depiction Of A Hero In Captain America
It s another beautiful day with people weaving in and out of buildings getting to their destination
following the status quo.The normal everyday routine when all of a sudden something goes south
extremely quickly.A villain appears and starts terrorizing the town, and it seems that no one can
save the citizens. Then bursting into action a Hero bursts onto the scene and saves the day, and
ultimately the hero ends up winning. The No matter who the hero may be all hero movies follow
the same theme. What really changes is the way that said hero is built up through the
cinematography of the movie. That is where the true differences can be made, but the depiction of
one hero in particular remains constant. That hero being Captain America. The first box office
depiction of Captain America took place in 1990 and evolved to what we know and have seen in
Captain America the Winter Soldier.

Puritan Beliefs And Mary Rowlandson
Puritan Beliefs and Mary Rowlandson
Puritan beliefs reflected in Mary Rowlandson s A Narrative of the Captivity, Suffering and
Restoration of Mary Rowlandson . The beliefs are depicted in her eleven weeks of captivity after
being captured by the Wampanoag tribesmen.
After her house was burned during a raid by local Indians. Rowlandson s friends and family
members were killed or captured by Native American in the 1676. Rowlandson and her baby
were wounded, capture and forced to walk for days after the raid and Rowlandson had to watch
her own child wither away and die due a lack food and medical care. During Rowlandson s
captivity with the Indians, the only thing she had to fall back on for her survival was her bible and
her Puritan beliefs in God. This paper shows how Rowlandson s understanding of the Puritan
Tenets or beliefs helped her in deal with her captivity physically and spiritually. The reader should
have an understanding of the Puritan Tenets and understand that the Tenets are not just words but a
way of life for the Puritan. To understand and interrupt the bible, the Puritan use typology, which is
an interruptive way of reading the bible. The Puritan mode of reading Biblical history
acknowledges that both the type and the antitype are historical realities and rests on the assumption
that God works in history and has a plan for it, creating real things that prefiguratively signify other
real things later on in time that fulfill the purposes of God s

The Negative Effects Of Cellphone Addiction
Technology has made many advancements through the past few years. Cellphones particularly
have become more advanced and popular. These electronic devices have granted access to an
endless amount of resources you can use to simplify your everyday life. However, the
technological upgrades in cellphones have also provoked an addictionto the excessive use of this
electronic. The cellphone addiction has become very common among many people especially the
younger generations. This addiction compared to other addictions might seem harmless however,
its side affects can be very serious and shouldn t be overlooked. Throughout, my research I have
discovered how a cellphone addiction negatively effects your physical, social, and mental health.
Effectively demonstrating how dangerous a cellphone addiction can be to the individuals who
suffer it.
Consequently, one of the things cellphone addiction negatively impacts is physical health. For
example, from my own experience cellphone addiction can lead to hand cramping, eye strain and,
neck pain. However, throughout my researched I found more physical side effects to addictive
cellphone behavior which are more serious. The National Center for Health Research website has
an article titled Can Cellphones Harm Our Health? which informs about the toll cellphone addiction
takes on your bodies health. In summary, this article states the findings of studies scientists have

The Cultural Aspects Of Culture
Culture is a group of characteristics such as customs, beliefs and attitudes that groups of people
share within a certain geographic area. Different geographic locations have different norms and
cultures that are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion
can be indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place.
Some good examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity
which, originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple
examples of non indigenous religionare Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people
that live close get together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When
a religion is created the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in
Buddhism, nuns have way more rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native
to India, and women in India are ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this
country have power over the women and it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and
norms were incorporated into it. Although, when studying religions it is good to have the
origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions can be biased because the people are so
drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural aspects. For example, some
Brahmins that practice Hinduism do not eat meat but

Lack Provision Of Health Services
Adequate provision of health services in low and middle income countries poses a considerable
challenge to governments of the same. Global health policy is currently shifting from centering
around older top down and vertical disease programmes, to more horizontally integrated
programmes that are re focusing on Primary HealthCare. Community participation is a popular
concept, where involvement of the community is considered one of the foundational principles of
Primary health care(Bath and Wakerman, 2013). Thus, it is important to understand whether and
how communities can successfully participate in determining how health services are delivered at
the local level.
To do so, it is important to begin by understanding what community participation means, which is
what this essay seeks to do first. It will then demonstrate through examples that communities can
and have successfully participated in determining how health services are delivered at the local
level. It will subsequently also show that, despite these apparent successes, it is difficult to assess
the effects of community participation in delivery of health services. The essay will conclude with
the assessment that though there are questions about the exact mechanisms through which
community participation operates, its value in demanding and delivering health services should not
be underestimated. The concept of community participation gained traction in the international
arena after the Declaration of

How Juneteenth Changed America
After doing a little bit of research I had found what Juneteenth actually was all
about.п»їп»їп»їп»їп»ї Juneteenth or June 19th is the date that slavery officially ended all over
America. specifically it ended back in 1865 when U.S. Army Union officer Gordon Granger
arrived at Galveston, Texas to tell everyone that the war had ended and that all slaverywas
abolished. Interestingly enough, this was two years after Lincoln announced the Emancipation
Proclamation. The reason why the new law was never really enforced in Texas however was
because of the lack of union soldiers in the state. After this, many plantation slaves received there
first taste of freedom and with this some went north to union states and others spread out to the
surrounding states... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the early 1900s Juneteenth began to fade from popularity as a holiday. This was mainly
because classrooms and textbooks began to skip over the fact of General Granger s arrival in
Galveston, Even today almost all textbooks don t even make a mention of the holiday. This is
why I believe no one in our class knew about this date, I feel as though most schools probably
think that its not important since they can just shorten the explanation to slavery was abolished
with the emancipation proclamation . Another similar example to this is how schools teach that
Columbus was the first to discovered America, when the reality is that thats the farthest thing
from the truth. Also I suppose that the holiday is probably more prominent down south near
Texas and in what was the confederate states. However, now going back to what lead to
Juneteenth fading from popularity; with the great depression happening in the 30s many people
could not take the time off of work to go and celebrate the holiday. However, over the next 50
years the holiday would makes different appearances and in 1980 was officially made into a state
official holiday. Now, Junetheenth seems to be spreading all over the country with different

What Is The Relationship Between Parental And Child...
Parental and child relationships play important roles in both parties. It is vital that they have a
good relationship. When people do not have a good relationship with their parents or vice versa,
they usually strive to develop that good relationship as they continue through life. However, if they
do not have a good relationship they are always trying to fill that void with other people or
material objects. For example, in a father/daughter relationship where there is always conflict, the
daughter is often searching ways to obtain the acknowledgement of her father. Whether it be from
praise of something well done or disappointment of poor behavior. At times, it is easier to have a
better mother/daughter relationship than a father/daughter. Being the same gender helps the
relationship because they can relate and have been through some of the same experiences, but can
cause conflict between them due to both of them thinking they know more in certain situations. It

Conventionality vs Instinct in Daisy Miller and The...
Henry James s Daisy Miller and Kate Chopin s The Awakening were first published twenty one
years apart, the former in 1878 and the latter in 1899. Despite the gap of more than two decades,
however, the two works evince a similarity of thought and intent that is immediately evident in their
main themes. Both works display characters whose lives have been governed almost solely by the
conventions of their respective societies. Furthermore, both works also attempt to demonstrate to
the reader what happens when these conventions are challenged by individual instincts, which more
often than not are in direct contradiction to the dictates of convention.

Winterbourne and Daisy, in fact, represent two vastly different ways of looking at the same world.
He views reality in very conventional terms. Daisy has an unconventional perception of life and
reality in Europe, and she acts accordingly. Winterbourne is stiff, though worldly. Daisy is
spontaneous and naive. It is no coincidence that she is dressed in white when we first meet her.
James intends us to understand that she is very innocent, if only of European conventions.
James reinforces Daisy s unconventionality almost immediately. When Winterbourne first meets her
we are told, In Geneva, as he had been perfectly aware, a young man was not at liberty to speak to a
young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (James 131). But Daisy
flouts this convention immediately upon their first meeting. She not only speaks with him,
unchaperoned, but makes a date to go with him to the old castle, also unchaperoned.
Winterbourne is at a loss. He does not know how to react to Daisy. James explains that
Winterbourne had lost his instinct in this matter, and his reason could not help him (137). He does
not understand Daisy, and so he reverts to his conventional views and tries to categorize Daisy in
conventional terms.

Impact Of The Anti War On The Vietnam War Between 1965 And...
Year 10 Australian History
Why was Australian society divided over the issue of our involvement in the Vietnam War between
1965 and 1975? (750 1000 words)
During the decade of 1965 1975, Australian society was controversially divided over the
involvement of Australian troops in the Vietnam War. At the peak of the nations involvement, some
8,500 troops were serving for their country. Vietnam was split into the democratic north and the
communist south, which was highly supported by the USA and most of its allies such as New
Zealand and Thailand. There were three main reasons of which Australia entered the Vietnam War,
which all equally contributed eccentrically to the division of Australian societies opinions of
whether it was necessary that we as a nation become involved in the Vietnam War. These reasons
are the threat of communism, supporting the alliances with the United States of America, and
requests for the Australian troops involvement in armed conflict as well as tactical planning. The
final topic of relevance being discussed is the impact of the anti war protest beginning in 1969.
Firstly, the threat of communism was immense. There was a genuine belief and somewhat fear of
communism from Asia sprawling into Australian society. The main objective of the South East
Asia defence treaty, known as SEATO, involved preventing Southern Vietnam from becoming a
communist state by force of arms and terrorism. According to The Sydney Morning Herald (June
24, 1971),

Byron Vs Poe
Poe and Byron are masterful at using vivid descriptive language to develop the elements of
Gothic literature and instill a sense of fear in the reader. Poe and Byron both used a dark, creepy
setting in their novels. Poe had his story set in a crypt, and Byron had his story set in a dungeon.
Both of the novels had at least one individual chained up in a deep, isolated, underground structure.
In The Cask of AmontilladoMonstresor buried up his lifelong rival while he was chained up to a
wall screaming, and thrashing the chains he was on. In The Prisoner of Chillon it is three silent
prisoners chained up on a column in a dungeon where they couldn t see each other, or move at all.

How Media Affects Electronic Media
With the increase in use of various electronic media, such as television, computers, video games,
mobile telephones and audio devices, it is becoming increasingly important to investigate how
media use is affecting individuals lifestyles. In 2011, the National Sleep Foundation published
the results of a poll they conducted regarding the sleep habits of Americans across the country.
They surveyed over 1000 adults asking general questions about their routine before bed and
while asleep. This pie chart here on the left, was taken directly from the official report. The
participants were asked whether they used a laptop or computer an hour before going to sleep
and how many nights a week on average, they used it. Overall, 61% of people use a laptop most
nights a week in that 1 hour before their bedtime. And that is broken down into, whether the laptop
is used in the bedroom or outside in another room. Of which, 36% use in the bedroom. In the

Essay about Lowering Population In India And South Asia
Lowering Population in India and South Asia
The problem of overpopulation exists nearly everywhere, and if it does not currently exist, it will
in the near future. People are having several children, and that is greatly exceeding the death rate.
This problem is especially apparent in South Asia, and it is causing several problems such as
famine, epidemic, overcrowding, etc.
The country of India is in dire need of aid in the decreasing of their population. There are
approximately 25 births for each 9 deaths. That is nearly a 1.58% increase in population. The
billionth baby was born not to long ago and if this rate keeps up, the problems are only going to get

2 children would steadily decrease the population but in a slower manner for the reason that it
would solely depend on deaths to decrease the population. To enforce the law, strict punishments
including required military service for the father and the new son or large fines can be created. But
limiting the amount of children allowed by law may seem kind of harsh. There are still other
methods of lowering surface population in India.
The Country of India has a GDP of 1.8 trillion dollars. A new tax dubbed, quot; The population tax
quot; can be enacted, that for a small some of money monthly, can aid in the fight against over
population in South Asia. The tax would do this by constructing free clinics with a variety of
ways to help. The first of which is to provide the strictest confidentiality about anything that
occurs inside. A barrage of free material as well as expert advise would be in the clinics for
anyone to learn about safe sex, and anything else that needed to be there. Free contraceptives would
be given. Of course Abstinence with 100% effectiveness will be recommended but if this will not
be done that other methods will be suggested.
Sterilization has a 99+% effectiveness rating, and although costly, will be given for free. Norplant
implants with the same effectiveness, will available. Birth control pills with a 97% rating will be

The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay
Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not
he foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable
that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from
God goes against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of
the greatest of goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all
that is good by turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness.
That in which, on behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his
downfall. For Lucifer chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of
degenerating his angelic nature. Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is
contrary to the God, thus leading to his fall.
In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God
was going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the
development of the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12,
chapter 1; all Angels recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God.
However, in order for Lucifer to turn away from the divine graces of God, he must then deny his
angelic nature. For the act of rejecting his angelic nature, originates from the particular good
bestowed by God. Because it

Cyber Security And The Cyber Threat

Unfortunately, far two many organizations are unaware and unprepared to deal with the impact of

Transcontinental Railroad Thesis
Around the 1840 s, the western land was still fairy new to America with many Americans eager to
expand. Americans became extremely curious, wondering what lies in this forsaken land and
developed the proposal of manifest destiny. The term manifest destiny was a brief way to express
support for American expansion and the annexation of western lands (Mountjoy 12). Americans
were now longing for a path from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast and hoping to fulfill manifest
destiny. To achieve this Asa Whitney proposes the construction of a transcontinental railroad
(Streissguth 9). The transcontinental railroad was designed to link Omaha, Nebraska with
Sacramento, California (Stein 105). By creating the transcontinental railroad America would be
able to expand across the entire country and manifest destiny would be fulfilled. After a long
process On May 10, 1869 the transcontinental railroad was complete (Bain 9). Americans had access
across the entire United Statesand was able to complete manifest destiny. This accomplishment was
huge for America and provided happiness for an abundance of citizens. However, this happiness
was not achieved by everyone. Plains Indians were very agitated upon the completion of the
transcontinental railroad. The transcontinental railroad s tracks ran through a number of tribal
territories, bringing into conflict cultures that held very different views of the land and how it
might be used and lived on (Jawort). How were Plains Indians

AD. In the 1960 s, scientist found a relationship between cognitive decline and the number of
plaques in the brain. In the 1970 s AD was documented as the most common type of dementia
(Bright Focus Foundation, 2015). In 1984 another ground breaking discovery was made. In
1984 the Beta Amyloid was discovered by George Glenner and Cai ne Wong (Alzheimer s

AD discoveries and experiments. As technology is always improving, scientists are able to push

The Influence Of The Roman Catholic Church And Christianity
In the 16th century, Christianity dominated western Europe due to the Roman Empire. The Roman
Catholic Church controlled most of the Christian ideology through the king and especially through
the pope. The power the Roman Catholic Church held was primarily due to the fear that people had
at the time and their belief that everything the Roman Catholic Churchwas true because they could
not read or apply Christianityto themselves from Scripture. The first great divide with this power,
however, came when Martin Luther wrote the 95 Theses about the selling of indulgences and
other issues he found with the Church. Luther was an educated theologian professor who
believed that the average person should be able to have access to Scripture (all Scripture at the
time was in original forms of Greek, Latin, or Hebrew) in their own languages. Luther fought for
this ideal throughout his life as a monk and professor, sparking an ideological revolution about the
place of man in relation to God. While Roman Catholicism saw the popeas the highest and only true
link to God, Luther believed any man could fulfill their duty to God and speak through their faith
alone. This caused a significant conflict in Christian ideology because Roman Catholics believed
the pope s word was final, and the pope said that Christians could and should buy indulgences and
provide material things to the Church in the name of Christianity to secure their place in Heaven.
Luther, on the other hand, countered this in

The Peloponnesian War was fought between the two leading city states. Athens and Sparta during

the Parthenon. When the Spartans grew tired of their greed they united themselves with the other
city states to create an army to stand against Athens. It was a hopeless effort the first years of the
war. Athens had the greatest navy of all time. Even when the Spartans had their borders

undergoing a plague. Due to everyone living so closely together it was easy for the plague to

The Corruption Of Hope In Uncle Tom s Cabin
If the structure of melodrama, according to some critics, is lead characters experiencing one
disappointed hope to the next, until the dramatic resolution ... [finally] satisfies theses hopes [by]
rewarding virtue and punishing vice, then hope plays a substantial roll in the plays we have read
for the second half of the semester. To bring all the plays together under one definition, I would
define hope as a belief that providence, although not necessarily Christian, will provide for the
good of the many. In all eight plays we have studied, this central, albeit nebulous framework,
applies to all of the lead characters as motivation, and therefore, propulsion of the plot. In Stirling s

In Akin s play the pastoral has been corrupted. The evils and vices we most closely associate with
the city are reversed and the raw landscape tarnished by the institution of slavery. However, this
corruption does not extend itself to the figure of Uncle Tom. Even though Tom operates in a
system of slavery that is completely devoid of law, he still uses his moral compass of
Christianity to make moral choices. For example, Uncle Tom could have very easily run off
with the 500 dollars belonging to his master, but follows his orders out of his love for the Lord.
Out of obedience to his Christian master, God, he abides in his worldly master. Obviously, this is
a plantacratic argument, and perhaps Uncle Tom should have run off with the money, but he
provides the audience with a sense of hope because he is rewarded in the afterlife. With an
institution as fundamentally evil as chattel slavery, one of the only spaces for belief in providence
for the many is in the form of Heaven, which comes only after death. The last scene of the play, the
Apotheosis of Uncle Tom, proves that the masses(slaves) will experience goodness if they use
Christianity as a moral compass by which to conduct

fostering a positive relationship with the community and community organizations remains at the
pinnacle of importance. As Morgan describes that, the more ecological interpretations [of the

attention (Morgan 64).
In my own personal volunteering experience with the theatre, this idea of collaboration with other

Casilda In The Judge s Wife By Isabel Allende
Indeed, a woman should soften but not weaken a man. This supposition exemplifies the character
Casilda from The Judge s Wife short story by Isabel Allende. Although not seen by all as the main
character, Casilda is the strongest and most evolutionary personality of the short story. The Judge
s Wife is an exceptional tale that follows the progression of characters as they fight against their
predetermined destinies and how they are viewed in others eyes. Casilda is a catalyst for the
evolution of almost every characterin the story. Not only does her character grow in The Judge s
Wife, but she is also a medium for the growth of the two other main characters in the story. Casilda
molds the personality of a majority of the characters in the story, distinctly Judge Hidalgo and
Nicolas Vida.
Casilda noticeably changed the character of Judge Hidalgo, into a softer man, in his field of
professionalism. In a close analysis of this narrative, we find that the Judge was a very cranky
bachelor who was very feared by all, in the village he lived, for his stubbornness and severe
temper. We are told that, when he enforced the law, Judge Hidalgo failed to give any account of
the whys and wherefores behind the indicted committing the crime. According to the author, not
only did the judge refuse to apply any common sense in his judgments but was also equally harsh
in his condemnation of the theft of a chicken as of premeditated murder (Allende 284). Across
the village, not a single person was safe from his cruelty. However, the judge changed,
significantly after he married Casilda. All this came to reality when the priest and a group of
Catholic women approached Casilda to plead for the life of Juana the Forlorn, a poor old woman
who was subjected to torture for the reason that she made an effort to capture her son. Casalda
heeded to their requests and set forth for the town, with a bottle of fresh water and a basket of
food, taking her children dressed in their Sunday best. In spite of the soldiers struggles to keep
her away, the cries of her children crossed the years of Judge Hidalgo. This made him realize the
mistakes he had been making prompting him, Judge Hidalgo, to come down in person and unlock

The Importance Of The Indian Removal Act

Blockbuster Video Kyle C. Cooper MGT450: Strategic Planning for Organizations Instructor
Sandra Watts 22 October 2012 Blockbuster Video The always changing world of technology
creates a challenge for many older businesses that once thrived years ago. Americans along with
many other countries are becoming centered around immediate gratification and in a way, lazy.
Fast is better and right now wins. When Netflix came into the homes of millions, it almost seemed
like the end of all other movie rental providers. A change in leadership from a recent buyout has
saved Blockbuster and has placed them as a leader once again in the entertainment business.

Blockbuster is heading in a good direction to see the success they lost several years ago. The
strengths of Blockbuster have improved drastically in the past year alone. The company has
paid all their debt by being bought by Dish. The new Blockbuster offers a competitive option to
renting movies and games. They not only offer one rental at a time, but for a little extra you can
have two or three at a time. If you do not want to wait on the short delivery time, you can simply
locate a store and exchange it there. Those alone surpass other providers but for Dish subscribers
you can have Blockbuster movies streamed right off your television or device. For people that are
on the fence about switching satellite providers, the offer of providing Blockbusters streaming
video will give them a push for sure. Having Dish own Blockbuster is a financial stability because
they are splitting the responsibility in whichever direction they end up going in the future. There
are many internal weaknesses with Blockbuster, definitely more than what should be. The first and
the biggest weakness are the poor marketing skills. You never see advertisements anywhere
promoting the new and successful Blockbuster and that is causing a loss in potential customers.
Along with this weakness is the lack of promoting the new image. With the recent bankruptcy, not a
lot of people know that Blockbuster is back out there providing

Network Security Paper Stuxnet
Elizabeth Flaim
CMIT 320, Section 6380
Professor Charles Pak
Due March 8, 2015
Introduction
Technical Analysis Ralph Langner s article on the Stuxnet worm discusses the hardware,
distribution and targets of the attack. He also goes into detail regarding the outlook of future
attacks and what we can do to prevent them. The Stuxnet attack was not executed to steal or erase
information. It was carried out to physically destroy a military target; Iran s Natanz nuclear facility.
The attack was aimed at industrial SCADA controllers and was a stand alone attack. It was not an
attack that required access to the Internet. The attackers relied on local networks and USB drives to
carry out the attack. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allowed the worm to be recognized as a device driver and to not be rejected by the
Windows operating system. The early version of the worm functioned as a man in the middle
attack. It sat between the engineering software and the Siemens controllers for the input and
output valves feeding into each centrifuge. The worm would accept commands from the
engineering software and give false responses to indicate that these commands were being
processed by the controllers. In reality, the worm was regularly allowing the centrifuges to be
over pressurized, which had the effect of causing the centrifuges to wear out and break more
quickly. The later version of the software was much more crude. It would take over the
centrifuges and refuse to acknowledge signals from the engineering software while an attack was
active. The attack operated about once a month and worked by slowing down the centrifuges and
then spinning them back up to past their normal full speed. This would cause damage as the
centrifuges passed through what was known as a resonance speed, which would destabilize the
rotor. Stuxnet managed to increase the rotor speeds at Iran s Natanz nuclear facility from a normal
speed of 63,000 rpm to 84,600 rpm. The worms were carefully designed so that it would not be
obvious to someone in the facility that their mechanical systems were being sabotaged. For
example, the worm would randomly affect different centrifuges at

Noise Is The Unwanted Sound
ABSTRACT:
Noise is the unwanted sound. With the development all around the sources of unwanted sound are
increasing day by day by knowingly or unknowingly. Hence the noise monitoring at two silence
and two commercial zones in the Visakhapatnam city was carried out. The locations for Silence
zone were Sri Shanthi Ashram and Biodiversity Park and for Commercial zones were Purna Market
and Dabagarden . The results show that the equivalent noise levels are higher in the both
commercial zones than the both silence zones with clear differences. The Noise levels are least at
Biodiversity Park and highest at Purna Market. However, the noise levels at all the places are

Observational and experimental studies have shown that noise exposure leads to annoyance,
disturbs sleep and causes daytime sleepiness, affects patient outcomes and staff performance in
hospitals, increases the occurrence of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, and impairs
cognitive performance in schoolchildren4. It was found that 60 85% people opined that vehicular
road traffic was major source of noise pollution and creates annoyance among people. Most of the
population is suffering from frequent irritation and common noise related problems like headache
or loss of sleep5. In the present study, two locations were selected to carry out ambient noise
survey in Visakhapatnam City. Visakhapatnam is a coastal, port city, often called The Jewel of the
East Coast , situated in the of Andhra Pradesh, located on the eastern shore of India, nestled among
the hills of the Eastern Ghats and facing the Bay of Bengal to the east. It is the largest city in
Andhra Pradesh and it is primarily an industrial city, apart from being a port city. Visakhapatnam is

Scott Joplin Essay
Scott Joplin (1868 1917)
Scott Joplin, commonly known as the quot;King of Ragtime quot; music, was born on November
24, 1868, in Bowie County, Texas near Linden. Joplin came from a large musical family. His
father, Giles Joplin was a musician who had fiddled dance music while serving as a slave at his
master s parties. His mother, Florence Givens Joplin, born free and out of slavery, sang and played
the banjo, and four of his brothers and sisters either sang or played strings.
Joplin s talent was revealed at an early age. Encouraged by his parent s, he became extremely
proficient on the banjo and gained an interest for playing the piano. After Joplin s parents purchased
a piano for the family, he taught himself how to play the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This opera did not actually reach popularity until some 60 years later. New York proved to be
stimulating for Joplin s creative mind. There he published many ragtime jewels, on right after
another.
In 1916, Joplin s career came to an abrupt end. Joplin contracted syphilis and began suffering the
terminal effects of this disease. He suffered from paranoia, dementia, penalization, and other
symptoms. In the latter part of 1916, he was admitted to Manhattan State Hospital, a mental
hospital, where he would never leave until he passed away on April 1, 1917. After his death,
Joplin s body was buried in the Astoria section of Queens, New York in St. Michael s Cemetery.
In Joplin s many years of composing, he was never actually acknowledged as the great composer
that he really was. There just was not any opportunities for black musicians during those times to
have their music heard by anyone in the serious musical world. Joplin s music received
recognition posthumously as a result of the revival of ragtime music in the 1970 s, as well as
during its popularity in the 1920 s and 1930 s.
Throughout his entire life, Joplin was mostly influenced to increase his musical skills by his mother
and father, both being musicians themselves. More than type of influence upon himself, Joplin was
one to place the influence on others. His works sparked the writings of his contemporaries, all those
who studied with him, and all those who studied his music.
Joplin led in the

The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests
The Government Effect On The Protests
Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major
element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to
discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because
the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs
and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to
protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received
for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi
Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to
the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall
instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result,
approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the
media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have
improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from
the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington
D.C.
In every country, protecting its citizens rights is the government s fundamental duty
in order to maintain the peace and unity. But in Turkey, citizens rights were violated
because the government used its

Repercussions In Sports
This article focuses on the severity of contact sport related injuries, more specifically head injuries
and concussions. This has been a hot top throughout many different professional organizations and
it is often discussed how each organization should handle these types of injuries. More recently they
have began to administer tests before each season so that when a head related injuryoccurs, team
doctors can more easily determine whether or not the athlete should return to the field and when
the appropriate time to do so is. Since the repercussions of allowing an athlete to return to quickly
to play can leave long term consequences, professional, college, and even high school teams have
begun to take these injuriesmore seriously by administering these tests. These tests are given
before the season starts ensuring that there has been no injury to the athletes head. After the
season starts, if there is some type of injury related to the head the athlete is given the test at three
different times. These times are 24 hours after injury, 5 days after injury and 10 days after injury.
For the most part, the athletes are back at their original test results from before the season started,
during the 5 to 10 day span after the injury occurred.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Online Communities
Online Communities Chat Rooms and Discussion Boards
To those who have never experienced an online community they may seem pointless, a waste of
time or simply childish. However, for those that have expanded beyond the traditional means of
communication such as, talking on the telephone or conversing face to face, online communities
offer a new and exciting means of communication. They offer a chance to meet others, gain advice,
voice an opinion, defend an argument, or to simply relax and have a little fun. Acknowledging both
points of view, I decided to explore the world of online communities for myself.
For my online community I decided to enter a Yahoo, country music, chat room. Through Yahoo,
there were many different chat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curse words were thrown around left and right, and it seemed as if everyone was in a big fight
over nothing. I also tried posting a comment that said, Can t we all just get along, and I received
two responses; one person told me to Shut Up (lonelycowgirlnee5, yahoo) the other said, You seem
like a nice girl can I AIM you? (cowboysainteasy, yahoo)
However, the more I observered the room the more I learned, and my first impressions were
altered slightly. I found most of the people in the room were in their mid twenties or younger
and it appeared everyone knew everyone else. When chatter entered the room, they were greeted
by all of their online friends. Chatters seemed to know things and events that were occurring in
each others lives and talked as if they were good friends. A lot of bad mouthing and fighting still
took place, and one person or another was always making a rude comment that would get
everyone into a big argument. The room was constantly full of drama. The guys were always
making perverted comments to the girls, and the girls either cursed them or thanked them. While
I was in the room I received five AIM messages from guys asking for my name, age, and location
to which I did not respond. This kind of talk and actions made me feel like I was back in a high
school locker room. I found it annoying and hard to follow, but entertaining. The whole time that I
was reading the comments I think the topic of country

The Ins and Outs of Cancer Essay
The Ins and Outs of Cancer
Cancer has affected the lives of each and every one of us alive today. Many people have know
someone with cancer, yet even those who haven t have been bombarded with constant reminders
of its terrible threat. Although cancer is often referred to as a single condition, it actually consists
of more than 100 different diseases, all characterized by the uncontrolled growth, reproduction,
and spread of abnormal body cells. All of these diseases are individually unique, yet the basic
processes that produce cancers are very similar (Ruddon, 1995). The human body consists of over
30 trillion cells, living in a complex, interdependent harmony. They regulate each other s
proliferation; normal cells reproduce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proto oncogenes induce cell growth and reproduction, while tumor suppressor genes inhibit it.
Together, they carefully control the proliferation of cells. However, if a proto oncogene is mutated,
it can become a carcinogenic oncogene, driving excessive multiplication. Tumor suppressor genes,
on the other hand, contribute to cancer when they are inactivated by mutation (Ruddon, 1995).
Luckily, cancerous tumors are not caused by one little mutation in one cell they are caused by
multiple mutations in a number of the cell s growth controlling genes. The number of mutations
necessary can be as low as two or quite high, depending on the specific type of cancer. Generally,
these mutations occur either from mistakes during cell reproduction, or due to DNA damage
caused by carcinogens such as tobacco, certain poisons, and UV rays. So, why don t we all get
cancer from these things right away? Consider that one of your cells is damaged by poison and
becomes mutated. In order for this cell to turn into a cancer cell, the rest of the necessary
mutations must also occur in this very same cell. This in itself, is fairly unlikely. It normally takes
decades for an incipient tumor to collect all the mutations required for it s malignant growth, which
explains why the average age for cancer diagnosis is 67 (Ruddon, 1995). Why, then, do some
individuals

  • 3. Regaining Control in Anna Karenina Essay Regaining Control in Anna Karenina Anna Karenina features significant clusters of scenes, all of which describe notable moments in the development of the novel s major figures. One of the most important clusters is when Anna travels to see Vronsky. On her way her perceptions change; she throws her searchlight upon herself. Arriving at the next station she sees the rails and knows what must be done. Anna has had control over her own life taken away from her, due to the societal limitations on her choices as a woman. She becomes resentful of the society she lives in, and turns that frustration on the unsympathetic Vronsky, who retains his own freedom as well as control over her own happiness. She is too proud and passionate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anna is not willing to accept a position of meekness, as Dolly does. She is, in her position, expected to stay at home while Vronsky has the freedom of an unmarried man. With the advantage of marriage, Vronsky would be forced to treat her as a wife, as a respectable woman, but as it is, he does not have to. He instead treats her as a mistress valuable when entertaining, but potentially a real drag on one s social life. Vronsky believes in the submissive role of women, and his opposition to their having the liberty that he enjoys makes Anna crazy. Vronsky disapproves of high schools for girls and Anna sees this as a slight toward her own occupations (773). Tolstoy plays dumb by saying that this issue was not close to the heart of either, but in fact, breaking the woman s traditional place what Anna has spent the past few years doing. If Anna had her own education she would not be trapped with bound hands in her present position. After Anna has swallowed her own opinion for the sake of preserving harmony, Vronsky looks at her penitnent, meek expression and perceives that she is in one of her good moods. (774). A good mood is when she assumes the feminine role and takes the blame for everything that is wrong with the relationship. He actually perceives her as being happier this way. He cannot seem to understand why a woman would want more than to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was unlike many other novelists who wrote out very long intricate sentences. Hemingway revolutionizes what an author should be like. Which is why many people fell in love with his economical and modesty style of writing. His life of adventure and the view of the public influenced later generations. However, at the highest point of his literary career, Hemingway s body and mind were beginning to betray him. He suffered from depression and was treated for many severe conditions such as high blood pressure and liver disease. Late 1900s, Hemingway committed suicide in his Ketchum home. • 6. The Death Of Cartoon Television Tv Show As a long time fan of classic, nostalgia filled cartoons of the 80 s, 90 s and early 2000 s it s sad to say the days of Saturday morning cartoons have been laid to rest. Or rather abruptly terminated would be a better way to put it. The death of cartoon tv TV show blocks has been tucked away in the box of many young children (mainly of the male demographic) right next to infrared peripherals, and chewed up and worn action figures that accommodated them. Though unlike many dying forms of media, the influence of Saturday morning cartoons still continues. First things first, modern cartoons have difficulty embodying the same type of in depth, adult themed, bro mantic adventures that older cartoons thrived off of. Take for example the original Transformers series. A group of ultra intelligent, sentient robots escape their crippling homeworld of Cybertron in order to seek out the much needed (hyphenate to words that form an adjectiveresource of Energon. • 7. Arabian Nights Characters Analysis The frame story of The Arabian Nights is set up with the kings encounters with their wives and the demon s woman. Linked by the emphasis on promiscuity as a shared characteristic of all the women concerned, and structurally by the repetition of the act of betrayal and the humiliation of men, the message is clear: womans sexuality and promiscuity can not be controlled. Opening with the story of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad and their wives, we are first introduced to the themes of betrayal and the promiscuity of women. Here are two kings living in different cities, far from each other, experience similar circumstances. Their women, having betrayed them, make love to their slaves once King Shahrayar and Shahrazad are gone. This is the first sign of the king s changing their perspective on women and both acting rashly on their own feelings. How will it be and what will happen behind my back when I go to visit my brother in India? No. Women are not to be trusted. He got exceedingly angry, adding, By God,I am king and sovereign in Samarkand, yet my wife has betrayed me and has inflicted this on me. As his anger boiled, he drew his sword and struck both his wife and cook. Then he dragged them by the heels and threw them from the top of the palace to the trench below. (pg 6) As seen through both King Sharhrazard words of Women are not to be trusted. and actions of murdering his wife and cook that these action, although seemingly justified, are rash and are based on their ... There are people in agencies and departments that have a huge amount of power and can have a huge force on the president. There is an example that Neustadt illustrates to show a president s reputation being questioned Neustadt stated Eisenhower s secretary of treasury George Humphrey publicly questioned the integrity of some of Eisenhower s changes to the budget for that year of 1957. The very public scrutiny by Humphrey, caused a national questioning of the budget and coarsely the reputation of Eisenhower . Although Humphrey s words may not have been justified, Eisenhower s reputation was scarred nonetheless . The president must always act and keeping in mind that there are those powerful enough to publicly embarrass him. The last and important thing of presidential power that Neustadt explains is public prestige. Public prestige is related to the president s reputation. • 10. The Life Of Reason By George Santayana Here s an experiment for you. Ask the next 10 people you meet about what comes to mind when they think of the word disaster. I did, and you ll probably get answers similar to the ones that I received: war, hurricane, earthquake, etc. Not a single person got anywhere close to housing crisis, and unless you work at a mortgagelender or economic think tank, you re probably not going to get that answer either. This is despite the fact that anybody on the receiving end of that question has probably not experienced a severe earthquake or hurricane, yet has felt the impact of the 2008 housing bubble simply by being a participant in the economy. In The Life of Reason, novelist George Santayana wrote the now famous phrase, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. That holds true for housing crises, specifically the one in 2008. Less than a decade after the world economy nearly collapsed, the vast majority of us still don t understand what happened or why it happened. Some of us do know, but choose not to care. Both are equally dangerous. Housing crises are avoidable. They are borne out of lapses in judgment from three main groups: lenders that do not make responsible lending decisions, buyers that do not make responsible buying decisions, and governments that do not make responsible legislation to govern either of the former parties. Each of them needs to be addressed in order to avoid repeating a sordid, destructive past. BANKS: MANAGE RISK Lenders, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The beliefs are depicted in her eleven weeks of captivity after being captured by the Wampanoag tribesmen. After her house was burned during a raid by local Indians. Rowlandson s friends and family members were killed or captured by Native American in the 1676. Rowlandson and her baby were wounded, capture and forced to walk for days after the raid and Rowlandson had to watch her own child wither away and die due a lack food and medical care. During Rowlandson s captivity with the Indians, the only thing she had to fall back on for her survival was her bible and her Puritan beliefs in God. This paper shows how Rowlandson s understanding of the Puritan Tenets or beliefs helped her in deal with her captivity physically and spiritually. The reader should have an understanding of the Puritan Tenets and understand that the Tenets are not just words but a way of life for the Puritan. To understand and interrupt the bible, the Puritan use typology, which is an interruptive way of reading the bible. • 14. The Cultural Aspects Of Culture Culture is a group of characteristics such as customs, beliefs and attitudes that groups of people share within a certain geographic area. Different geographic locations have different norms and cultures that are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion can be indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place. Some good examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity which, originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple examples of non indigenous religionare Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people that live close get together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When a religion is created the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in Buddhism, nuns have way more rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native to India, and women in India are ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this country have power over the women and it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and norms were incorporated into it. Although, when studying religions it is good to have the origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions can be biased because the people are so drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural aspects. Global health policy is currently shifting from centering around older top down and vertical disease programmes, to more horizontally integrated programmes that are re focusing on Primary HealthCare. Community participation is a popular concept, where involvement of the community is considered one of the foundational principles of Primary health care(Bath and Wakerman, 2013). Thus, it is important to understand whether and how communities can successfully participate in determining how health services are delivered at the local level. To do so, it is important to begin by understanding what community participation means, which is what this essay seeks to do first. It will then demonstrate through examples that communities can and have successfully participated in determining how health services are delivered at the local level. It will subsequently also show that, despite these apparent successes, it is difficult to assess the effects of community participation in delivery of health services. The essay will conclude with the assessment that though there are questions about the exact mechanisms through which community participation operates, its value in demanding and delivering health services should not be underestimated. How Juneteenth Changed America After doing a little bit of research I had found what Juneteenth actually was all about.п»їп»їп»їп»їп»ї Juneteenth or June 19th is the date that slavery officially ended all over America. specifically it ended back in 1865 when U.S. Army Union officer Gordon Granger arrived at Galveston, Texas to tell everyone that the war had ended and that all slaverywas abolished. Interestingly enough, this was two years after Lincoln announced the Emancipation Proclamation. The reason why the new law was never really enforced in Texas however was because of the lack of union soldiers in the state. After this, many plantation slaves received there first taste of freedom and with this some went north to union states and others spread out to the surrounding states... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the early 1900s Juneteenth began to fade from popularity as a holiday. This was mainly because classrooms and textbooks began to skip over the fact of General Granger s arrival in Galveston, Even today almost all textbooks don t even make a mention of the holiday. • 17. What Is The Relationship Between Parental And Child... Parental and child relationships play important roles in both parties. It is vital that they have a good relationship. When people do not have a good relationship with their parents or vice versa, they usually strive to develop that good relationship as they continue through life. However, if they do not have a good relationship they are always trying to fill that void with other people or material objects. For example, in a father/daughter relationship where there is always conflict, the daughter is often searching ways to obtain the acknowledgement of her father. Whether it be from praise of something well done or disappointment of poor behavior. At times, it is easier to have a better mother/daughter relationship than a father/daughter. Being the same gender helps the relationship because they can relate and have been through some of the same experiences, but can cause conflict between them due to both of them thinking they know more in certain situations. Henry James s Daisy Miller and Kate Chopin s The Awakening were first published twenty one years apart, the former in 1878 and the latter in 1899. Despite the gap of more than two decades, however, the two works evince a similarity of thought and intent that is immediately evident in their main themes. Both works display characters whose lives have been governed almost solely by the conventions of their respective societies. Furthermore, both works also attempt to demonstrate to the reader what happens when these conventions are challenged by individual instincts, which more often than not are in direct contradiction to the dictates of convention. The theme of conventionality versus instinct predominates both works. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Winterbourne and Daisy, in fact, represent two vastly different ways of looking at the same world. He views reality in very conventional terms. Daisy has an unconventional perception of life and reality in Europe, and she acts accordingly. Winterbourne is stiff, though worldly. Daisy is spontaneous and naive. It is no coincidence that she is dressed in white when we first meet her. James intends us to understand that she is very innocent, if only of European conventions. James reinforces Daisy s unconventionality almost immediately. When Winterbourne first meets her we are told, In Geneva, as he had been perfectly aware, a young man was not at liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (James 131). But Daisy flouts this convention immediately upon their first meeting. She not only speaks with him, unchaperoned, but makes a date to go with him to the old castle, also unchaperoned. Winterbourne is at a loss. He does not know how to react to Daisy. James explains that Winterbourne had lost his instinct in this matter, and his reason could not help him (137). He does not understand Daisy, and so he reverts to his conventional views and tries to categorize Daisy in conventional terms. By this point the reader has realized that although the work is entitled Daisy Miller, it is really the story of Winterbourne s internal struggle. Daisy is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Impact Of The Anti War On The Vietnam War Between 1965 And... Year 10 Australian History Why was Australian society divided over the issue of our involvement in the Vietnam War between 1965 and 1975? (750 1000 words) During the decade of 1965 1975, Australian society was controversially divided over the involvement of Australian troops in the Vietnam War. At the peak of the nations involvement, some 8,500 troops were serving for their country. Vietnam was split into the democratic north and the communist south, which was highly supported by the USA and most of its allies such as New Zealand and Thailand. There were three main reasons of which Australia entered the Vietnam War, which all equally contributed eccentrically to the division of Australian societies opinions of whether it was necessary that we as a nation become involved in the Vietnam War. These reasons are the threat of communism, supporting the alliances with the United States of America, and requests for the Australian troops involvement in armed conflict as well as tactical planning. The final topic of relevance being discussed is the impact of the anti war protest beginning in 1969. Firstly, the threat of communism was immense. There was a genuine belief and somewhat fear of communism from Asia sprawling into Australian society. The main objective of the South East Asia defence treaty, known as SEATO, involved preventing Southern Vietnam from becoming a communist state by force of arms and terrorism. The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not he foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God goes against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of the greatest of goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all that is good by turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness. That in which, on behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his downfall. For Lucifer chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of degenerating his angelic nature. Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is contrary to the God, thus leading to his fall. In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God was going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the development of the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12, chapter 1; all Angels recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God. Americans became extremely curious, wondering what lies in this forsaken land and developed the proposal of manifest destiny. The term manifest destiny was a brief way to express support for American expansion and the annexation of western lands (Mountjoy 12). Americans were now longing for a path from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast and hoping to fulfill manifest destiny. To achieve this Asa Whitney proposes the construction of a transcontinental railroad (Streissguth 9). The transcontinental railroad was designed to link Omaha, Nebraska with Sacramento, California (Stein 105). By creating the transcontinental railroad America would be able to expand across the entire country and manifest destiny would be fulfilled. • 31. The Influence Of The Roman Catholic Church And Christianity In the 16th century, Christianity dominated western Europe due to the Roman Empire. The Roman Catholic Church controlled most of the Christian ideology through the king and especially through the pope. The power the Roman Catholic Church held was primarily due to the fear that people had at the time and their belief that everything the Roman Catholic Churchwas true because they could not read or apply Christianityto themselves from Scripture. The first great divide with this power, however, came when Martin Luther wrote the 95 Theses about the selling of indulgences and other issues he found with the Church. Luther was an educated theologian professor who believed that the average person should be able to have access to Scripture (all Scripture at the time was in original forms of Greek, Latin, or Hebrew) in their own languages. Luther fought for this ideal throughout his life as a monk and professor, sparking an ideological revolution about the place of man in relation to God. While Roman Catholicism saw the popeas the highest and only true link to God, Luther believed any man could fulfill their duty to God and speak through their faith alone. This caused a significant conflict in Christian ideology because Roman Catholics believed the pope s word was final, and the pope said that Christians could and should buy indulgences and provide material things to the Church in the name of Christianity to secure their place in Heaven. Luther, on the other hand, countered this in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Uncle Tom could have very easily run off with the 500 dollars belonging to his master, but follows his orders out of his love for the Lord. Out of obedience to his Christian master, God, he abides in his worldly master. Obviously, this is a plantacratic argument, and perhaps Uncle Tom should have run off with the money, but he provides the audience with a sense of hope because he is rewarded in the afterlife. The Judge s Wife is an exceptional tale that follows the progression of characters as they fight against their predetermined destinies and how they are viewed in others eyes. Casilda is a catalyst for the evolution of almost every characterin the story. Not only does her character grow in The Judge s Wife, but she is also a medium for the growth of the two other main characters in the story. Casilda molds the personality of a majority of the characters in the story, distinctly Judge Hidalgo and Nicolas Vida. Casilda noticeably changed the character of Judge Hidalgo, into a softer man, in his field of professionalism. In a close analysis of this narrative, we find that the Judge was a very cranky bachelor who was very feared by all, in the village he lived, for his stubbornness and severe temper. We are told that, when he enforced the law, Judge Hidalgo failed to give any account of the whys and wherefores behind the indicted committing the crime. According to the author, not only did the judge refuse to apply any common sense in his judgments but was also equally harsh in his condemnation of the theft of a chicken as of premeditated murder (Allende 284). Across the village, not a single person was safe from his cruelty. However, the judge changed, significantly after he married Casilda. All this came to reality when the priest and a group of Catholic women approached Casilda to plead for the life of Juana the Forlorn, a poor old woman who was subjected to torture for the reason that she made an effort to capture her son. Casalda heeded to their requests and set forth for the town, with a bottle of fresh water and a basket of food, taking her children dressed in their Sunday best. In spite of the soldiers struggles to keep her away, the cries of her children crossed the years of Judge Hidalgo. This made him realize the mistakes he had been making prompting him, Judge Hidalgo, to come down in person and unlock the cage, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In history, the U.S. president and the Cherokees signed a treaty, which not only established peace and friendship between the U.S. and the Cherokees, but also guaranteed the Cherokees right to use their land forever. However, the peaceful and friendly relationship was broken in 1830, when the Indian RemovalAct was passed by the congress; the bill authorized the president to grant unsettled land west of Mississippi in exchange for the lands that the Indians own currently. Although many resisted the removal policy, many natives were eventually forced to leave their lands. Since the day the Indian Removal Act was effective, the fate of the Cherokees were doomed approximately 4,000 Cherokees died on the march to the west, the situation continued to worsen as they reached their relocated lands. It was carried out to physically destroy a military target; Iran s Natanz nuclear facility. The attack was aimed at industrial SCADA controllers and was a stand alone attack. This allowed the worm to be recognized as a device driver and to not be rejected by the Windows operating system. The early version of the worm functioned as a man in the middle attack. It sat between the engineering software and the Siemens controllers for the input and output valves feeding into each centrifuge. The worm would accept commands from the engineering software and give false responses to indicate that these commands were being processed by the controllers. In reality, the worm was regularly allowing the centrifuges to be over pressurized, which had the effect of causing the centrifuges to wear out and break more quickly. The later version of the software was much more crude. It would take over the centrifuges and refuse to acknowledge signals from the engineering software while an attack was active. The attack operated about once a month and worked by slowing down the centrifuges and then spinning them back up to past their normal full speed. This would cause damage as the centrifuges passed through what was known as a resonance speed, which would destabilize the rotor. Stuxnet managed to increase the rotor speeds at Iran s Natanz nuclear facility from a normal speed of 63,000 rpm to 84,600 rpm. The worms were carefully designed so that it would not be obvious to someone in the facility that their mechanical systems were being sabotaged. The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests The Government Effect On The Protests Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result, approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington D.C. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proto oncogenes induce cell growth and reproduction, while tumor suppressor genes inhibit it. Together, they carefully control the proliferation of cells. However, if a proto oncogene is mutated, it can become a carcinogenic oncogene, driving excessive multiplication. Tumor suppressor genes, on the other hand, contribute to cancer when they are inactivated by mutation (Ruddon, 1995). Luckily, cancerous tumors are not caused by one little mutation in one cell they are caused by multiple mutations in a number of the cell s growth controlling genes. The number of mutations necessary can be as low as two or quite high, depending on the specific type of cancer. Generally, these mutations occur either from mistakes during cell reproduction, or due to DNA damage caused by carcinogens such as tobacco, certain poisons, and UV rays. So, why don t we all get cancer from these things right away? Consider that one of your cells is damaged by poison and becomes mutated. In order for this cell to turn into a cancer cell, the rest of the necessary mutations must also occur in this very same cell. This in itself, is fairly unlikely. It normally takes decades for an incipient tumor to collect all the mutations required for it s malignant growth, which explains why the average age for cancer diagnosis is 67 (Ruddon, 1995).
