3. PVCPolyvinyl Chloride
• A synthetic thermoplastic material
made by polymerizing vinyl
chloride.
• It is made softer and more flexible
by the addition of plasticizers.
• It is the third-most widely produced
synthetic plastic polymer, after
polyethylene and polypropylene.
• The flexible forms are used in
hosepipes, insulation, shoes,
garments, etc.

4. UPVCUnplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride
• If no plasticizers are added, it is known as uPVC
(unplasticized polyvinyl chloride), rigid PVC.
• Used for pipework, window frames, and other structures.

5. CPVCChlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride
• CPVC is a thermoplastic
produced by chlorination of
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin.
• It is significantly more flexible
and can withstand higher
temperatures than standard
PVC.
• Uses include hot and cold water
pipes, and industrial liquid
handling.

6. HDPEHigh-density Polyethylene
• It is a polyethylene thermoplastic made
from petroleum.
• Sometimes called "alkathene" or "polythene"
when used for pipes.
• It has higher strength, is harder, and can
withstand high temperatures.
• They are found to dampen and absorb
shock waves minimizing surges when used
in underground.
• Have the best joint pressure resistance and
are also more abrasion and heat resistant.
• Used in the production of plastic bottles,
corrosion-resistant piping, geomembranes,
and plastic lumber.

7. PPRPolypropylene Random
• Interplast PPR pipe and fittings are a hot and cold water
supply system.
• It is suitable for all potable water applications and heating
systems.
• The pipes are made from Beta PPR, the most advanced PPR.

8. GIGalvanized Iron
• GI pipes are manufactured
using mild steel strips of
Low Carbon Steel Coils.
• These pipes are cheaper,
light weight and easy to
handle.
• These are generally used
for distribution of treated
or raw water in rural or
urban areas.
• It is Costly Compared to
PVC / CPVC.
• G.I Pipe is Costliest of both
MS and CI.

Cross-linked Polyethylene
• PEX has very high chemical, electrical and
temperature resistance, enduring
temperatures up to 150 Celsius and Voltages
up to 50 kiloVolts.
• It has quick and simple fitting connection.
• PEX used for pipe and tubing is made
from HDPE.
• Used in hydronic radiant heating and cooling
systems, domestic water piping,
and insulation for high voltage electrical
cables, natural gas and
offshore oil applications, chemical
transportation, and transportation
of sewage and slurries.

• It is generally suitable for conveyance of potable water,
slurries and chemicals.
• Used for chilled water applications and compressed airline
