12. The highly anticipated first of its kind
Sangoma Festival rises positively through
content and fruition as a unique feast of
celebrations and awareness which strives to
effectively address African spirituality in its
pure diverse formations.
On its aspirations to be more than just
entertaining, the festival has added a new
innovative feature in its 2 day programme,
an award ceremony aimed at honoring and
recognizing those who over the years have
displayed excellence, commitment and
outstanding strides in addressing African
spirituality, culture and heritage.
Dr Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa, a prominent
figure in our country who over the years has
shown excellence, commitment and outstand-
ing consistent results in addressing healing,
empowering and educating our people about
African spirituality, culture and heritage. The
very first Lifetime Achievement Award will be
awarded to him. With this we plan to set a
positive tone for these awards going forward
as an important feature in the activities of the
festival in recognizing and encouraging
communities to assist us in identifying other
active spiritual leaders in our areas who
display such positive strides in building
our country and Africa as a whole.

13. Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa is a prominent
respected figure in South Africa and the
world. He is a Zulu Sangoma or iSanusi
(traditional healer) from South Africa.
He is known as an author of books that draw
upon African mythology, traditional Zulu folk-
lore, extraterrestrial encounters and his own
personal encounters.
His most recent work is a graphic novel called
the ‘Tree of Life Trilogy’ based on his writings
of his most famous book ‘ Indaba my Children’
In 2018 he was honored with an USIBA Award
presented by the South African Department of
Arts and Culture, for his work in Indigenous
Wisdom. He currently lives with his wife,
Virginia, in Kuruman where they run a
hospice clinic.

14. As Sangoma Festival nears, its due date is
yet to be announced, it promises and high-
lights an eye opening insight, creating an
anticipation of a unique authentic African
celebration, and the importance of our culture
and spirituality in our specific realms of being,
embracing African spirituality that shapes the
concept of Ubuntu.
It’s time to rebuild, re-brand and re-learn our
African Ancestry. This is a message behind
the newly launched Sangoma Festival that
urges Africans to celebrate their heritage and
