• Starts on May 6th
• Instructor Madhan Rangaswamy is the CTO of a bay area startup, Tiquant,
which specializes in Smart City and IOT solutions. In the past he has worked
in companies like Apple, HP, and Symantec, managing teams building large
scale web and mobile applications. He is also actively involved in advising
many startups on their UX and Technical architecture strategies.
• Goal/Objective: Enable Teams to build a complete, functional mobile
application
• Equipment:
– Laptops with Windows OS will be provided.

App Development Agenda
• Week 1:
– App Development Basics : Mobile app development Overview
– The Android Platform: Introduction to the Android platform and the Android Studio IDE,
Android components, Activities
– Kick Off: Setup, Compile , Build, Debug
• Week 2:
– Mobile App Idea and Intent
– User Interface Design: Intents, Activity lifecycle, UI Design: Widgets and Layouts, UI Events,
Event Listeners
– Backend Design, Service Integration etc
• Week 3: Code Basic Components and Integrate
• Week 4: Advanced topics If needed based on the Application needs:
• Week 5: Wrap Up
Class Exercise
1. Form Teams (all startups start with a Founding
Team – Co-Founders): 5 people per team, assign a
leader
2. A cool name for your team – write the team name
and team members’ names
3. 20 mins to brainstorm an ‘initial idea’, which will be
developed more as we progress through the camp
4. Submit idea and if time permits we will discuss a
couple
