I saw the Marin Oratorio perform in the afternoon at College of Marin. The
ensemble played classical was made up of every type of instrument including

had two levels with most of the instrumentalists on the bottom and vocalists behind

La Horde Movie Analysis
La Horde is a film that I ve been looking at for a while, but negative reviews have
kept me at bay. Something I m a little ashamed about because despite a handful of
obvious flaws, La Horde is a Zombie flick that does an admiral job keep its head
above water. La Horde would have done better at this if they had chucked off the
more annoying characters, rather than make them front and center. But I ll complain

film, over being just fodder.

Small groups cut off from outside help are forced to fight off overwhelming odds
and since the films are all the same principle. It s the characters and their
motivations that make the film work... or don t. As is the case here, as most of the
characters are simply awful. But luckily Rene is in this film for a long portion and
Yves Pignot really makes all the scenes he s in work.
I liked the derelict apartment complex... which is more a tower than a complex now
that I think about it. It provides a great backdrop and the poor tentents that remained
after the building was condemned add a great deal of character to the otherwise drab
backdrop.
The zombies are, well zombies. Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher (the films
directors) didn t try to reinvent the wheel here. My only issue is are the characters in
this film the only people left? Because I cant but help think that there are a lot of
zombies in an abandoned part of town. I mean this is hours into the zombie
apocalypse

In the collection of poems Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel Hadas explores the
different emotions she experiences after the death of her husband. Hadas had lost
two very important men in her life. During the Writers at Newark reading, Hadas
explained how she lost both her Father and her late husband. They both had a large
impact on her work. Her father, Moses Hadas, was a classical scholar and a
translator of classical works. He died when she was seventeen years old. She
follows in her father s footsteps and translates classical works just like him. Her late
husband, George Edwards, was a music composer and professor of music at
Columbia University. Her work is a reflection of both men and they both are
mentioned in her most recent project. In Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel is still

neither truly in or out. The vestibule is a true emotional representation of in between
or confusion. Hadas explores the metaphorical vestibule emotionthrough form and
voice which became more clear because of the way she chose to read the text. Hadas
used form in very different ways during the reading when reciting her poem
Equipoise. The poem is in the Petrarchan Sonnetform. The form consists of two
stanzas. The first stanza is eight lines, or the octave,and poses a question. The
second stanza has six lines and is a sestet. This second stanza is the answer to the
question or a counter to the first stanza. There is a turn or volta between the eighth
and ninth lines which begins the switch from the question to the answer. Oddly,
Hadas breaks the form by not rhyming certain lines. This makes the reading more
interesting and makes the poem somewhat unfamiliar. Hadas volta capitalizes on the
theme of the in between. The hopelessness in the first stanza turns into prospects for
the future to come, by the time the second stanza comes around. Hadas writes,

Human beings are often times very cruel to wild animals. The poems Woodchucks
by Maxine Kumin and Traveling through the Dark by William Stafford depict two
similar cruel interactions with animals. Both poems feature a narrator who treats
wild animals as lesser beings for the greater good . However, the narrators do not
share the same intentions and guilt. In the end though, both speakers show that they
believe they are in a position of higher value than these animals. In Woodchucks by

must assign a single person to have authority (Hobbes 175). The sovereign, once

2015 fiscal year the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity released information that
claims there were more than 89,000 charges filed for workplace discrimination. One

experienced in Southern California and how it affects the people and the weather.
Well known essayist , Joan Didion, in her essay, The Santa Ana, describes the winds
and the effects it has on the way the people behave. Both Thomas and Didion s essays
have a similar subject and circumstance, the Santa Ana winds but, both essays vary

interval varying randomly. A variable schedule is shown to cultivate more positive
rates of response than a consistent schedule. Meanwhile the roommate will be

Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde
Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet
themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born
on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and
William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and
German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but
out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde
because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it
was written I really loved.
At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would
make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He
was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German
like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is
inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat
was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from
1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek
literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen.
Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem
Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is
very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and
painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as
snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is
stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow
means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her
breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave
and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even
mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza
five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here,
Heap earth upon it.

Crime and punishment in Wendake communities and in New France was
completely different, as the Wendat people based their legal system on reparations
and preserving the community while New France s legal system was based on
religion and terror. According to records kept by French Catholic missionaries, the
Wendat legal system emphasized compensation for crimes and prioritized social
cohesion as opposed to individual punishment. For example, when someone was
murdered, the family of the perpetrator arranged reparations with the family of the
victim. It was a collective responsibility, so the entire family of the murderer was
expected to pay for the crime. Accompanying the compensation was a public
ceremony meant to heal the wounds of the victim s family. Unlike contemporary
European legal systems, there were no judges or individual punishments. New
France, on the other hand, inherited their legal system from France and therefore did
have judges and individual punishment. Although both systems attempted to create
social order through law, their methods of doing so were different. While Wendat
law focused on preserving the community and healing together, the New France
legal system was based on the idea of terror as a deterrent to crime. Individual
punishments were meant to terrorize the public and impress upon them the
