1. Sample Of A Critical Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Sample Of A Critical Essay" demands a multifaceted
approach, intertwining analytical prowess, linguistic finesse, and a nuanced understanding of
critical writing. The difficulty arises not just from the task of dissecting and evaluating a given
sample but also from the need to convey one's insights with clarity and conviction.
Firstly, one must navigate the intricate landscape of critical analysis. This involves delving into
the nuances of the chosen sample, identifying key elements, and unraveling layers of meaning.
The writer needs to adopt a discerning eye, capable of discerning subtleties and making
connections that may not be immediately apparent.
Secondly, effective communication becomes paramount. Translating complex thoughts into
coherent sentences demands a command over language and an ability to articulate ideas in a
logical progression. The challenge lies in striking a balance between depth and accessibility,
ensuring that the essay engages both scholarly and general audiences.
Moreover, the writer must not merely summarize the sample but offer a thoughtful critique,
addressing strengths and weaknesses. This requires a delicate dance between objectivity and
subjectivity, as one must justify assessments with evidence while injecting a personal voice into
the analysis.
Research skills also play a pivotal role. A critical essay necessitates a foundation built on relevant
sources and contextual knowledge. Thorough research is indispensable to fortify arguments,
providing a solid scaffolding for the writer's insights.
The difficulty intensifies when attempting to seamlessly weave together these elements. Crafting
a well-rounded critical essay demands time, patience, and a willingness to revise and refine.
Striking the right balance between analysis and expression is a delicate task, and achieving this
equilibrium may require multiple drafts and a keen editorial eye.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of composing a critical essay on the topic of "Sample Of
A Critical Essay" is no small feat. It involves unraveling layers of meaning, articulating thoughts
with precision, and constructing a cohesive narrative that seamlessly integrates analysis and
critique. Nevertheless, with dedication and a systematic approach, one can overcome these
challenges and produce a compelling piece of critical writing.

2. Collapse of Bronze Age Greece Essay
The Bronze Age in Greece was a period of time in which their civilization
flourished. They were a main power at the time and seemed to have everything
they wanted in the palm of their hands. Many other civilizations have a period of
time also known as the Bronze Age, however, the bronze age of Greece is widely
known to be the most prolific and dominant in history. The Greece Bronze Age is
estimated to have lasted from between 8th to 6th century BC to about 146BC.
Nobody knows for sure the exact time period in which it began and ended.
However, these are the dates that are most widely known to be accurate. No other
civilization has been able to remain a dominant world power longer than this time
period, which is why this is such an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these civilizations came and went at different times throughout the duration
of Bronze Age Greece. All of them were drastically important in maintaining the
great power of the area during a time of such havoc and turmoil. Much like
anything in life, all good things must come to an end eventually. The Bronze Age
Greece almost completely fell by 146BC. There are a number of different reasons
why the collapse of the Bronze Age Greece occurred. In the following sections we
will discuss several reasons for the collapse of this once great society. Possibly the
most important cause for the fall of the Golden Age Greece was the Battle of
Corinth. It occurred in 146BC and officially marked the complete fall of the Greek
resistance against the Roman Republic. This was such a destructive turning point
for Greece because the city of Corinth possessed masses of wealth. It was a main
hub of activity and politics for the Greece civilization. The battle occurred during a
time when the Roman Republic sought to overtake Greece and all of its
corresponding states. Rome had been proving its great military strength and
superiority to neighboring nations previous to the Battle of Corinth. This period
outlines the fall of the Greece nation and the rise of the Roman Republic. Corinth
was one of the most powerful at that time. After the battle, the rest of Greece fell to
the Romans as well. The Greek states tried to hold off and resist Roman

two reagents. 5 drops of reagent 1 and 1 micro spoon of reagent 2 was added to the
water. The lid was replaced and the container was shaken. We waited 2 minutes and
took the lid off. The colour of the mixture was compared with the colour chart and

that the pollution of the river could be explained.

Homong Spirituality in Western Medicine
Throughtout the later chapters of When The Spirit Catches You and You Fall

strong ties of their own community of the Homong. During this time of the book Lia

from her grand mal becomes more apparent. Lia s father, Nao Kao, continuously uses
the Homong medicine just as he has in the past which shows that he wants her health
to return to a somewhat normal state. In his view he sees a contradicting image that
occurs between the Western medicine preformed by the medical doctors versus the
Homong traditional medicine practices.
Homong vs. Western
The main focus of Westersn medicine is different than that of the Homong. Western
medicine is there to help prolong the life of an individual while Homong, on the
other hand, seeks to preform spiritual welfare. If Lia s family were to never leave

7. The Power Of Love By Harry Potter
The power of love in Harry Potter is unlike any other. So much so that it is an
overwhelmingly significant and recurring theme throughout the entire series. From
the self sacrificial love of Lily Potter to the loving mother Molly Weasley to the
unrequited love of Severus Snape. There is also the misunderstanding, or the
absence, of love; which is equally as important in the novels. Especially since it was
the main difference between Voldemort and Harry that was incredibly essential to the
storyline. So essential that J.K. Rowling went out of the way to tell us about it in
Harry Potterand the Sorcerer s Stone when Dumbledore said, if there is one thing
Voldemort cannot understand, it is love (229, SS). The concept of love is woven so
inextricably within the very fabric of the novels, that it continues to challenge the
reader all the way until the very end.
One of the widely known main principles of magic is its inability to create real,
true love. Which is why fictional characters have been known to dabble with one
of the darker aspects of love in novels: love potions. They do exactly what is
expected, which is to make the victim become obsessed and completely infatuated
with the intended target for a certain amount of time. All while being completely
unaware of such actions. The idea of being able to control someone that you can t
have with love is an alluring concept for many. It s clear that the wizarding world s
love potions are the equivalent to date rape drugs, where

Essay
Campaigns for Women Suffrage and their Effectiveness
Throughout the nineteenth century, the suffragists and the suffragettes worked hard
campaigning for women suffrage. Finally, in 1918, the vote was given to women, but
only women over thirty. But suffrage campaigns, although important, were not the
only reason that the franchise was granted. Some other reasons include, a fear of the
return of suffragette activity, the government following an international trend, the
government making changes to the voting system anyway, and the Prime Minister,
David Lloyd George, being more sympathetic to the cause that the previous Prime
Minister was.
The long term factor was, in fact, the suffrage campaigns. ... Show more content on

The suffragists had mixed feelings about this type of tactic. On one hand they
admired the heroism of the suffragettes. This was demonstrated by Millicent Fawcett
herself (leader of the suffragists), the violence suffered by the suffragettes has been
formidable…what those who endures who underwent the hunger strike and
the anguish of force feeding can hardly be overestimated. Their courage made a
deep impression on the public. But on the other hand, the violence put off MP s
who would otherwise support the cause, and the suffragists feared that all their hard
work would be wasted. Even though the suffragists weren t too keen on these
methods, they led to political debate, which put the women s right to vote back on
the political agenda. Historian, Paula Bartley believes that the government used the
violence as an excuse to withhold the right to vote; they feared that other groups
would adopt similar tactics. However, the government and the suffragists were not
the only people to oppose the campaigns. The press ridiculed women by portraying
suffragettes as ugly middle aged women, so that they would lose all the respect and
support of men that they had worked so hard at gaining.
In 1914, when war was declared, the suffragettes dropped their violent tactics to show
their patriotism. Women were set to work in their husband s places and this process

9. Life During College And After College
Life during college and after college can be very stressful. Teenagers are emerging
into young adults while college graduates are preparing for the real world. These
young grown ups are now responsible of their own health, school life, and financial
condition (Civitci Civitci, 2015). During college, most students worry about
maintaining a social life while keeping grade point average up. Along with those
who graduate college, struggle to find stability. To get a better understanding about
the factors that contribute to success in graduates, and undergrads, a correlational
study is proposed to associate hardiness with GPA. Hardiness refers to the ability to
endure difficult conditions. It is known as a personality trait that restrains the
negative effects of stress on health. Research suggests that hardiness is a developed
factor in both working adults and college students (Maddi, Harvey, Khoshaba, Fazel,
Resurreccion, 2012). Hardiness originates from existential psychology. Research has
found that academic hardiness relates to SAT scores, academic performance, and
college enrollment. The ongoing pattern of research has supported hardiness as a
facilitator of performance in stressful situations. Hardiness helps one turn stressful
circumstances from chaotic disasters to blooming opportunities for growth (Maddi et
al., 2012). This study also, investigates the power of hardiness and its relationship to
performance. Several samples of undergraduates were

Reaching goals in life sometimes feels like one uphill climb after another. The most
important thing to remember is to keep a positive mindset during the entire journey.
Nothing is too great to accomplish because If you have faith as small as a mustard

Nothing will be impossible for you (New International Version, Matt. 17.20). This

earth is another chance to broaden horizons. Time is precious just like the Word of
God is to one who may be going through strife. I am going to spend my free time in

His family had originally emigrated from Scotland where they spelled their last
name Cant. Emmanuel s family was quite large by today s standards consisting of
nine children, he was the fourth born and only one of four to make it to adulthood.
He and his siblings grew up in a Pietist house, the focus of Pietism was the literal
study of the bible. Their childhood was a strict and punitive one that stressed religious
teachings over the sciences and mathematics. After learning Hebrew, Emmanuel
changed his name to Immanuel. While attending the Collegium Fridericianum was a
good student, Immanuel improved his studies and eventually enrolled at the
University of Kongsberg by age 16 in 1740. It is there that he taught about the great
philosophers Leibniz and Wolff by a rationalist Martin Knutzen. It is also here where

Las Meninas by Diego VelГЎzquez is depicted as a group portrait of Spanish King
Philip IV (8 April 1605 17 September 1665) at the Habsburg court. The painting well
demonstrates VelГЎzquez s painting techniques that can be recognized by dramatic
mood, rich color and extreme contrast between light and dark. It is absolutely
extraordinary and implies influences VelГЎzquez has had, especially Flemish
Baroque realism. VelГЎzquez had a deeper ambition in his mind when creating this

faculty was of various FBI agents, District Attorneys and Chief of police, and an
assistant chief of security from one of California s concentration camps for
Japanese Americans during World War II, all together the school s faculty had over
to 125 years of experience working for prosecutorial agencies and institutions. In
the late 1950 s and into the 1960 s the school changed deans and changed a lot of its
staffing around and that was a major change, a good one because Berkeley s new dean

build the schools infrastructure and build its political influence in the academy, this
was all motivated by the California Master plan for Higher Education and the school

The Bay Area where the campus was located has always had a tradition of rebellion

Why is it that American culture today attributes its geographic discovery to a man

the history books? It is known that the American continent was populated by 1000
AD which is long before settlements by Viking fisherman and even longer before
the arrival of Columbus. In spite of this fact every October, we as a culture celebrate

I was born on Ramstein Army Base just outside of Kaiserslautern, Germany. My
father, an Air Force Lieutenant at the time, was stationed in the area when I
arrived. Growing up an Air Force brat, I learned at an early age that our lifestyle isn
t normal. While most of my friends have known each other since preschool, I ve
lived in two countries and five states and attended seven different schools. I know I m
not typical.
But I ve always identified strongly with the military. It was an integral part of my
childhood, dictating when we would move again and in which state I would
receive instate tuition. I am proud of my background, of the challenges I ve had to
overcome and the hardships I ve had to deal with because of it. It s made me stronger
as a person, and I would never choose to redo my childhood as a civilian.
Just as much as it s shaped my past, the military has also shaped my future. To start,
it has broadened my horizons. Being exposed to so many different cultures around
the US has made me discontent to settle in one area, and I find myself eager to
explore the one region I haven t yet lived: the West Coast. Growing up a military
brat has also caused me to shy away from considering a career in the military. My
dad s tales of life at the Academy have scarred me enough to cross that option off my
list. But also, I intend to stray from the military and start life as a civilian.
I am a proud military brat. I appreciate all of the experiences the military has granted
me.

legal system of Early Modern England, as it did for the rest of Early Modern
English life. Laws expounded in the Bible were also codified in modern society,
and judges and prosecutors used biblical text as evidence and legal proof in their
indictments. But it was not just the laws of the Bible that affected legal
proceedings. The character of a defendant could be impacted by his perceived piety,
and this could be used as substantive evidence against his legal innocence. The trial
of Mervyn Audley, Earl of Castlehaven, exemplifies how a lack of religious
adherence could be used

Position Statement
It is the position of the SAA that all college student athletes begin and remain amateur
athletes while attending college. Payment for college athletes should be scholarships
that can include tuition, books, dorm accommodations, meal on campus or while
traveling. Anything above this should be considered subsidized and is considered in
violation of the SAA s governing body.
Introduction
The SAA (Student Athletic Association) is an organization that was developed to
protect and keep all college athletes in an amateur status. The SAA s job is to make
sure student athletes are not being taken advantage of and are remaining true to the
student first mission set forth by the SAA College studies should not undertake for ...

Television was now involved and issues with recruiting and financial aid where
taking on a life of their own. It seemed that the SAA needed a full time staff just to
deal with the complexity of these problems. In 1952 the SAA was created as we
know it today to deal with these complex issues. Women s Athletics were introduced
in 1980, when Divisions II and III established 10 championships for 1981 82. A year
later, the historic 75th Convention adopted an extensive governance plan to include
women s athletics programs, services and representation. (Crowley, 2006)
Discussion
What has happened to the idea of attending college for the sake of an education and
playing a sport that is loved by the athlete to help offset the cost of a college
education? That simple thought seems to be lost as of late as college sports have
become a stepping stone for anyone wanting to play a professional sport. The current
dilemma in college athletics is weather to pay, especially football and basketball
athletes extra money while attending college. There has been much discussion and
rational on the subject over the last few years. According to James H. Humphrey,
Stress in College Athletics there are 5 causes of stress among college athletes. 1.
Academic Problems, 2.Athletic demands, 3. Time 4. Relationships with others, 5.
Finances (Humphrey, 2000). This is one of
24. The Apostle Peter s Position In The Catholic Church
T he Apostle Peter s position within the Catholic faith is such that he receives high
praises as the first Bishop and first Pope of Rome, and the chief pastor of the whole
Roman Catholic Church. There are various reasons why Peter has held such a high
honor and respect within the Catholic Church. Moreover, after reading the Acts of
Peter, if true, one may become overwhelmed with admiration for this noble apostle,
and appreciate Peter s placement within the Catholic Church, and why he is thus
admired. There were several disciples of Jesus that were crucified for being
Christians and the Apostle Peter were one that occurs in a number of striking works
of art that displays Peter being crucified upon a cross upside down; such as the one at
the beginning of this chapter. Still, the most noteworthy ingredient regarding the
reason for Peter s death essentially is void in the majority of widely held historical
documentation. As set forth in the New Testament, it is known that Peter had a wife
at the time of Jesus ministry (Matt 8:14); yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, Peter flees town due to all the threats; whereupon, Jesus then appears to
him and gives the impression He wants Peter to return. Specifically, the importance
of Jesus appearance to Peter is crucial; since due to Jesus, the crucifixion of Peter
takes place. Plausibly, with Jesus acknowledgement, Peter is put to death for his
belief in celibacy. This startling occurrence is mind boggling and dramatic! Jesus
noticeably inspires Peter to die for this belief; for indeed, Peter goes back to Rome
rejoicing, and then is crucified. In the end, there is no adequate reason why Peter
would go through the dreadful act of crucifixion, for the extreme idea of total chastity
/celibacy; unless this teaching came directly from Jesus that taught Peter the real

The case study by Hasson et al. (2007) advises that employees could contact their

Engleberg and Wynn state that when group members lack confidence, they will
follow directions regardless of whether they go against their own judgment, and they
also experience high stress levels with group communication (p. 68). Harry Mart,
Galvatrens COO who was first informed about the possible misconducts, didn t act
as a responsible leader. Instead of taking Mike Fields message seriously, he ignored
his message. According to Engleberg and Wynn (2007), effective leaders who are
proactive listeners don t wait for disputes to escalate into destructive conflict; they

26. Thanatopsis, By William Cullen Bryant
A transition from the old to the new was evident as the spirit for expansion was in the
air, the shift from agriculture to industry took place, slavery grew, and the need for
social reformation escalated. Through these significant shifts, writers of this period
were firm on their identity. Early Romantics drew their inspiration from nature and
concentrated individualism, emotional identity, and the basic elements of
imagination in their literature. Reflections of the American growth and struggle
prevailed through their writing as most Romantics were advocates for human rights.
This can be seen in William Cullen Bryant s 1817 poem Thanatopsis as it aided in
establishing Romanticismin American literature during the mid 19th century.

This was not the first time that South Carolina and other states threatened secession.
Already in 1788, with the ink on the Constitution barely dry, several states objected to
the Alien and Sedition Acts. These laws were designed to restrict the rights of
immigrants and punish those who criticized the government. Thomas Jefferson and
James Madison each wrote resolutions, known as the Kentucky and Virginia
Resolutions respectively, condemning the Acts. Jefferson s resolution was more
strongly worded, claiming that states could nullify any federal action that was not
found in the Constitution. While many southerners considered these resolutions to be
on equal footing with actual laws, most of the states rejected them. The New
Hampshire legislature responded by saying that the job of determining
constitutionality resided with the Supreme Court, not the state legislatures.
This idea of nullification, in which a state could declare an act of Congress
unconstitutional, did not go away. In 1832, trouble arose surrounding the passage of
a national tariff. South Carolina, led by John C. Calhoun, passed the Ordinance of
Nullification. They claimed that the tariffs of 1828 and 1832 were unconstitutional
and threatened to form a new independent government if the Federal government
tried to force the implementation of the tariff. In response, President Jackson asked

35. The Epidemic Of West Nile Virus
West Nile virus is the most significant exotic mosquito borne disease that has come to
the contiguous United States in the last century. Outbreaks have proven extremely
difficult to predict and control and have been associated with considerable morbidity.
The large outbreak in 2012, which caught many by surprise, indicates that West Nile
viruswill remain a formidable public health challenge for years to come ( FAQ: West
Nile Virus, par. 3).
That is the troubling account of Dr. Lyle Peterson, specialist in the field of infectious
disease control on the condition of West Nile Virus entering the United States.
Though West Nile has affected many different regions, Africa has had the worst
death rates. Conditions and diagnostics reveal that the disease is real and has some
very dangerous effects. There are many actions being put forth to stop the rapid
spread, but there are also some factors preventing countries from issuing control
techniques such as costs and environmental considerations. The origin and history
of West Nile need to be analyzed to predict where it will be in the future and know
how it became as large as it is now. Additionally, the main problem lies in the fact
that there are so many prime areas for the main carrier, the mosquito, to thrive in.
Indeed, this all leads to the rampant condition of West Nile Virus the world faces
today, the worst that it has ever been.
West Nile Virus has been carried from one country to the next with the main
conclusion that it

Preprocessing is actually a trail to improve text classification by removing worthiness
information. In our work document preprocessing involve removing punctuation
marks, numbers, words written in another language, normalize the documents by

which are words that can be found in any text like prepositions and pronouns. The
rest of words are returned and are referred to as keywords or features. The number of
these features is usually large for large documents and therefore some filtering can be
applied to these features to reduce their number and remove redundant features.
Features Extraction
Text is categorized by two types of features, external and internal. External features
are not related to the content of the text, such as author name, publication date, author
gender, and so on. Internal features reflect the text content and are mostly linguistic
features, such as lexical items and grammatical categories[www]. In our work,
words were treated as a feature on three levels: using a bag of words form, word stem
, in which the suffix and prefix were removed and word root. With all these features
we need to extract and generates the frequency list of the dataset features (single
words) and save it in a training file.

8 tips to stay on course with your bariatric diet and to a healthier lifestyle.
The majority of adults can all agree that they have at least one thing in common and
that is we have all attempted to diet at least one time in our lives. Whether you are a
little overweight and trying to drop a few pounds or you have had weight loss
surgery, many of us can agree that occasionally we can get off track and wind up
right where we started. In order to help you stay on the right track with your weight
loss goals, try the following eight tips:
1.Keep a Diet Journal

Having well planned, realistic weight loss goals can keep you focused and
motivated. Overly aggressive and impractical weight loss goals can undermine your
efforts and cause setbacks. Based on the weight loss surgery procedure you choose,
your bariatric surgeon will work with you to ensure your goals are well thought out
and realistic.
4.Create Monthly Goals
As you document the progress in your diet journal, plan a reward for yourself each
time you reach them. Rewards may include buying a new outfit, treating yourself to
a massage or a day at the spa, going out to a nice restaurant or planning a weekend
getaway.
It is important to be disciplined and only reward yourself if you achieve those goals.
Examples of monthly goals are:
Consistent weight loss until your goal weight is reached
Maintaining your weight once you ve reached the goal weight
Sticking to your journal s food plan
Achieving your exercise goals each month
5.Stay Away from Snacks
Once you have outlined your meal plans in your diet journal, make sure to stick
with it. Don t snack or graze between meals unless you have previously scheduled a
healthy snack in your meal plan. If you are unsure about allowing yourself one
healthy snack a day, talk with your weight loss surgeon or dietician.

Abstract
In the late evening of March 3rd 2002, through to the evening of March 4th 2002,
Special
Operation Forces were engaged in an intense fire fight with al Qaeda forces on a
mountain top known as Takur Ghar. This battle was the product of a botched
reconnaissance insertion and ultimately resulted in a 24 hour fire fight and the
deaths of 7 U.S. service members and over 200 al Qaeda fighters. Navy SEAL, Neil
C. Roberts is believed to be the first U.S. casualty of this battle and thus, the battle

The ramp gunner was tethered to the aircraft and was retrieved back inside by the
remaining passengers. Roberts fell from the aircraft and was believed to still be
alive as the aircraft was only 10 feet off of the ground at the time it came under fire.
The helicopter was forced to crash land in the valley and now was 7 kilometers away
from the mountain top. Roberts was now completely alone amongst an overwhelming
enemy force and it is believed that he fought in place until he was eventually over run
by the enemy (3).
The downed SEALs were picked up by RAZOR 04 and at 0500, again attempted to

due to the damage that it sustained. The team moved to the high ground of the
mountain engaging and killing 2 combatants, they then realized that they were
standing in the middle of multiple bunkers as they came under heavy cross fire from
only 20 meters away. Acoording to the official report,
Chapman was fatally wounded almost immediately and 2 others would also become

In 1944, medical doctor Miklos Nyiszli, a Hungarian Jew and family man, arrived
at the Auschwitz camp in Poland. In an effort to stay alive after being separated
from his daughter and wife though he feared his days would soon be counted he
volunteered to work as a pathologist under Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele. Working under
the supervision of a Nazi superior meant one became Sonderkommando. As a
Sonderkommando, one had the privilege to wear civilian clothes and receive better
meals. Hence, working for Dr. Mengele, Dr. Nyiszli had certain privileges other
Jewish prisoners did not obtain. The Nazi government to provide a way to enhance
the Aryan species sponsored Dr. Mengele in his horrific human experiments; Twins

women give birth to blond and blue eyed twins. Being a Sonderkommando, Dr.
Nyiszli assisted Dr. Mengele with various cruel experiments such as injecting
chemicals in twins eyeballs in an attempt to change their eye color to blue and felt
his fate was pre determined due to his knowledge of the experiments. Every four
months the Sonderkommandos were killed. He writes, I had the feeling I was
already one of the living dead. I was certain I would never get out alive. Was it
conceivable that Dr. Mengele would ever allow me to leave this place alive (Nyiszli,

40. Lombroso s Biological Theory Of Crime
Introduction:
Italy is a country in Europe, well known and distinctly identified on maps by its
shape of a boot that is flanked by the neighbouring countries of France, Switzerland,
Austria and Slovenia. As of May, 2016, the current population of Italy is
approximately 60 million people. On the one hand, Italy is a country of grand culture,
scenic landscapes, rugged mountains, and rich history and art. On the other hand,
Italy is an important gateway and client of Latin American cocaine and Asian heroin

The Italian School of Criminology was interested in why some persons engaged in
criminal behaviour and other persons did not. The school s thinking was that some
people had a biological inclination and tendency for crime. Lombroso believed that
certain individuals with this biological trait could be identified by specific
physical deformations and disfigurements: extended jaws, drooping eyes, large
ears, flattened noses, longer arms and fingers, sloping shoulders, and a lower back
that jutted outward. Lombroso had conducted his research for this theory in the
Italian prison system, collecting detailed and specific physical measurements of
prisoners and comparing the measurements with those of regular Italian citizens.
Lombroso aimed to prove that criminals were atavists biological throwbacks from
early human evolution, who engaged in criminal activity and violence because it
was an instinctive trait. During a post mortem autopsy on a man named Giuseppe
Villella, a notorious Calabrian thief and arsonist, Lombroso wrote, At the sight of
that skull, I seemed to see all of a sudden, lighted up as a vast plain under a flaming
sky, the problem of the nature of the criminal an atavistic being who reproduces in
his person the ferocious instincts of primitive humanity and the inferior animals.
Thus were explained anatomically the enormous jaws, high cheek bones, prominent
superciliary arches, solitary lines in the palms, extreme size of the orbits, handle
shaped or sessile ears found in criminals, savages and apes, insensibility to pain,
extremely acute sight, tattooing, excessive idleness, love of orgies and the
irresistible craving for evil for its own sake, the desire not only to extinguish life in
the victim, but to mutilate the corpse, tear its flesh, and drink

43. Rosa Luxemburg
Rosa Luxemburg
Before one can even attempt to discuss the Marxists of the World, one must examine
and define the meaning of the term itself. What is the definition of Marxism? How
did it come about? How did it change through the years?
Marxism is the system established by Marx and Engles. The foundation of Marxism is
based on Dialectical Materialism a way of understanding reality; whether thoughts
emotions, or the material world. Through this Marx and Engles examined history,
which led them to explain class struggle and the basis of social relations throughout
economics

doctrine. Marx contributed the central propositions of the ... Show more content on

For Marx, then, the limits of capitalism are given by the social production relations
as value relations, while for Rosa Luxemburg capitalism cannot exist at all, except
through the absorption of its surplus value by pro capitalist economies. Rosa
Luxemburg s theory was quite generally regarded as an aberration and an
unjustified criticism of Marx . Yet her critics were just as far removed from Marx s
position as was Rosa Luxemburg herself. Most of theme critics adhered either to a
crude under consumption theory, a theory of disproportionality, or a combination of
them. Lenin, for example, saw the cause for crises in the disproportionalities due to
the anarchic character of capitalist production, and merely added to Tagan
Baranowsky s arguments that of the under consumption of the workers .
She met with many Russian Social Democrats (at a time before the R.S.D.L.P. split);
among them the leading members of the party: Gregory Plekhanov and Pavel
Axelrod. It was not long before Luxemburg voiced sharp theoretical differences with
the Russian party, primarily over the issue of Polish self determination. Luxemburg
believed that self determination weakened the international Socialist movement, and
helped only the bourgeoisie to strengthen their rule over newly independent nations.
Luxemburg split with both the Russian and Polish Socialist Party over this issue,
who believed in the rights of Russian national
44. What Is The Difference Between David And Dumas
When there is two well known books and in these stories there are two men that are
placed to showcase their true personalities. For The Three Musketeers it s D
Artagnan, who want his success quick and puts its all on his back. On the other
hand, David in the Bible in 1 Samuel chapters 16 through 18 not only wanted his
success to be given to him by God. With those major differences, they both share
some qualities like their youth and many others. Alexander Dumas and Samuel, the
authors, both gives many situations to display both D Artagnan s and David s
character. D Artagnan and David are well known for what they did in their stories,

In...
Question: What argument does the play make about gender and power in society ?
William Shakespeare s problem play, Measure for Measure presents men in
patriarchy as the justified rulers despite characterizations of erraticism and corruption.
The hypocritical and corrupt figure Angelo, the irrational Claudio, and the deceiving
Duke all undermine the central figure Isabella because of their male superiority .
Isabella s agency to protect Claudio, however, affirms her refusal to conform to
biased societal views of women. Even though Isabella is moral in character, she
breaks her modesty and passiveness by confronting Angelo, which presents her in a
more masculine way. This masculine portrayal is ultimately highlighted by the
ending of the play, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ambiguous ending of the play is an overarching representation of the kind of
silence women receive in society. The Duke s marriage proposal to Isabella, is seen as
a way of justice to preserve her moral reputation and to give her an identity,
however, it also represents how much power he holds over her especially because
she is unable to give an answer. This ambiguity and lack of response from Isabella s
part can represent an implied agreement. Isabella is the female character with the
most agency, but in this instance she is vulnerable and powerless. The Duke
proclaims, If he be like your brother, for his sake, give me your hand and say you
will be mine, (Act 5, Scene 1). The Duke takes advantage of his power by
proposing to Isabella; he wants something in return for keeping her brother alive.
This is the second time in the play when Isabella is confronted by a powerful and
egotistical male figure. Isabella herself admits to Angelo that, Women are frail...
Women? Help, Heaven! Men their creation man in profiting them. For we are soft
as our complexions are, and credulous to false prints, (Act 2, Scene 4). Isabella
recognizes that women are easily deceived and taken advantage of because they are
powerless and inferior to
46. Mercury Surface
Mercury
The surface of Mercury is littered with craters. These craters are believed to have
been created by collisions from debris. Mercurys craters range from small circular
craters to multi ridged impact basin. These basin are formed either when there was
a large collision followed by a few small collisions or from many smaller collisions.
The largest known crater on Mercury is called the Caloris Basin. This crater has a
diameter of approximately 1500 kilometres across and surprisingly resides in a rather
flat part of Mercurys surface.
However we see that the full surface of Mercury is not cratered and that there is
sections of Mercurys surface that looks untouched we call these sections smooth
plains. These plains are not believed to have been created by volcanic activity on
Mercurys surface.

47. The Pros And Cons Of Outsourcing
Honestly, what is outsourcing and why do we as a business even need this type of
idea to take place today? In order to understand outsourcing, we first have to define
what outsourcing is. Outsourcing can be defined as using an outside company to
provide service rather than hiring in house workers. Now we have to determine why
businesses need outsourcing. Typically businesses perform their own tasks
themselves, but nowadays we find outsourcing becoming a lot more common.
Outsourcing can be as simple as hiring another to do one job or as complex as putting
businessin abroad countries. So why do business even need outsourcing if they can
do the jobs themselves one might ask. The answers it s cheaper and more efficient.
It is simple it costs less to bring in these outside companies or workers to complete
a task for much cheaper then the company would have to pay it s in house workers.
Another reason why outsourcing has also become so popular a business might not
be able to do a certain task it s buyer wants. This is where outsourcing can play a
factor as well. No business is completely perfect assistance and partnerships are key
to being a successful company. Outsourcing allows companies to go out get the help
they desire, then continue to perform in the manner in which they have been before....

If the wages for low class workers is beginning to increase, the decrease in wages for
more skilled workers either foreign or domestic in the same field begin to suffer. Wage
separation can take place in resulting because of outsourcing, creating an chaos that
could end up leading to further problems. U.S. companies produce their products
overseas in order to take advantage of lower labor costs i.e., comparative advantage.
But that means U.S. consumers get cheaper prices. You ll notice no one complained
when gasoline prices recently fell, even though much of that oil is produced

Reader Response to Joyce s The Dead
James Joyce s story The Dead has a tremendous impact on the
readers, especially those who are familiar with the political situation in
Ireland at the time about which the Joyce wrote the final story in
Dubliners. In exploring the meaning of James Joyce s long short story,
The Dead , there are many critical approaches to take. Each approach
gives readers a lens, a set of guidelines through which to examine and
express ideas of the meaning of The Dead. Joyce himself said that the
idea of paralysis was the intended theme of all the stories in The Dubliners
of which The Dead is the final story.

The images reflect Gabriels ego in a sense, at the same for his

spiritual. Gabriel who is tallish and stout symbolizes authority and also
wants to be perfect for all times. He has a mental block, which makes him
believe that he is more superior and different than others are. He s built
a screen around himself, which stops him from identifying himself with the
Common Man. The ...polished lenses and the bright gilt rims of the

vision from the vision of others.
Joyce s intended theme of paralysis is exemplified in the

things at the end are not going to be as smooth as Gabriel had predicted.

some of these animals as a pet; however I also have a pet that a great amount of
people do not have a parrot. Yes that s right my pet parrot named chipsy. I have
three dogs, two fish and one parrot. But the two that act alike are my Senegal parrot
Chipsy and my Bishon mixed poodle named Princess. My dog Princess is the
typical dog u have seen or heard of. Princess has white curly hair and is short and
fat. Princess doesn t chirp, but obviously she barks. When someone s at the door

Compare and contrast the ways in which the American Dream is presented through

been yearning. It is considered to be a perfect life ; it can be full of money,
contentedness or even love. There are many divergent opinions given by people.

Walter presumes that it s always money and how Mama can t use it in the right
way. Walter later responds that money is life, explaining to Mama that success is
now defined by how much money one has. This conversation takes place early in
the play and reveals Mama s and Walters economic struggles. However we see a
turn of events when Walter plans to accept Mr. Lindner s offer. Walter is not
concerned with the degrading implications of the business deal; it is simply a way
to recover some of the lot money. However, Hansberry challenges Walter s crude
interpretation of the American Dream by forcing him to actually carry out the
transaction in front of his son. Walter s inability to deal with Mr. Linder marks a
significant revision of his interpretation of the American Dream. Walter comes to a
realisation that money is not everything and how family is so much more valuable.
During the late 1950 s money was defined as one of the main characteristics of a
man, and who that man will become. Walters dream is to obtain enough money to
provide enough for his family, this dream of his suggests how his American Dream
is also vanished, as money was an immense part of this dream of his. Wily Loman is
the complete opposite; he fails to understand that there is so much more to becoming
successful than being rich. The failure to understand this concept brought him to a
sudden death. Willy is like every

At the end of the day there are only two great archetypes in literature: Jean Valjean
the Apostle E.F. opposite Michael Corleone and Iago. To watch someone rise to the
pinnacle of creation or fall to its lowest depths, these are the types of stories that
instantly gain our attention. What draws Man to such stories? Perhaps it lies in the
ability of the epic to show the two paths that lie before him, eternal fulfillment or
everlasting guilt. Not only does the musical Les Miserables examine multiple
dimensions of the paths but it also contains the reasoning behind their existence. In
other words, not only is the disease and its progress shown, but also the catching of it
in the first place. On top of that stunning achievement it also successfully... Show

Symbolism in The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne isn t noted for perfecting any famous literary style, for writing
multiple best sellers, or even for contributing largely to classic American literature.
His only real claim to fame is The Scarlet Letter: a novel that was originally only
meant to be yet another Hawthorne short story. Because of this, it actually possesses
many short story characteristics. It is simpler and more complete than his other
novels. (James 285) It also has an excellent plot backed by an expert use of literary
techniques. One technique Hawthorne used was borrowed solely from drama: the
use of the aside. Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale delivers an aside in the midst of the
action in chapter three, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, the scarlet letter meant Adulteress and was a sign of scorn. It was a brand
used for easy identification of an untrustworthy criminal. But as time progressed, and
the initial shock of such actions as adultery subsided, the townspeople, especially the
women, took note of the fact that Hester had accepted the responsibility of her
actions by sewing the scarlet letter herself. They also observed that she did so with
unmatched precision. Eventually this made them yearn for needlepoint talent like
she possessed. They began relying on her to sew exquisite patterns for them,
gradually inviting her back in their society. By wearing the scarlet letter proudly,
Hester had eventually changed the meaning of the A from Adulteress to Able. The
townspeople saw Hester for her inner beauty, not for the scarlet letter forever branded
onto her bosom. They realized the sacrifice and pain that she went through to regain
their trust and respect. Gradually, throughout the novel the scarlet letter becomes an
article of pride, and Hester a woman deserving respect.
One object that holds great symbolic value is often over looked and discarded as an
unimportant detail. It is the black glove that Dimmesdale left on the scaffold after his
night vigil of regret and guilt. What, on the surface, may seem as a minute, petty
detail becomes rather powerful when the reader realizes that the
