2. Essay Passion of the Christ
The Passion of the Christ is one of many films about the life of Jesus but this
particular one is different to the others. Released in 2004, directed by Mel Gibson
and filmed in the ancient Aramaic language, `The Passion focuses mainly on the
death of Christ and shows us the full extent as to what he suffered to save mankind.
Before seeing The Passion of the Christ I hadn t heard much about it except that it
was very violent and politically incorrect. In fact I hadn t seen or heard a review
that said if it was good or bad or if it was well acted or if it was worth the watch.
Everyone just seemed to be interested in saying that it is too violent, the movie
should not have been made and Mel Gibson shouldn t be making money from a ...

There is definitely something in this film for everyone. Even if you can t bear to
watch the violence, which is so predominant throughout the movie, there is a lot of
emotion, action and even horror that will keep any audience gripped. In this film
Gibson uses the devil in the form of a person and he shows us how man is tempted
by evil which results in jumps and frights better than most horror films out these days.
As far as the violence is concerned, The Passion was very gruesome and disturbing
to watch at some points. Some people think it is too much to see someone getting
their skin ripped off with metal claws but I think it was a necessary part of the
ordeal to which Christ was subjected and it brings home the enormity of what
happened. Other films made his crucifixion out to be a graceful and peaceful death
almost leaving out the fact that he was nearly flogged to death before even touching
his cross.
This is not the type of film where you can complain about the story line or say you
didn t like the ending, but you do come with an expectation of how you would like
them to portray the story. For me I was more than satisfied with how they did it but
some more religious people might not like the way little things were changed from
the Bible. In The Passion when Judas Iscariot hung himself he didn t say he was
sorry to god but we could see that he regretted doing what he did and we knew he
was sorry. Gibson also
3. Imperialism In The 21st Century
Now we ve got it covered now we can ensure it s understood: Trump is not an
outsider, first of all. He s an elitist among elitists, and he s being pushed by the elite
to win this election. Why, now? Divide et impera! The more stratified we are by
imaginary lines (white/black male/female straight/gay cis/trans rich/poor binary/non
binary), the less united we are in empathy and objective conscience. The elite are
mostly white, mostly male, mostly straight, mostly cisgender, and guaranteed to be
rich as rich can be. If the other categories of human are repressed and removed, they
can have all the free reign they want! Last year we had two terrors in two cities:
Paris and San Bernardino. These terrorist attacks, fueled by Western imperialism,...

Professional sports leagues like the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL seen some
amazing athletes come out of the draft, especially top 5 picks. However, not every
pick can be perfect, so there are often draft busts. However, there are none bigger
than Ryan Leaf, Greg Oden, and Rick DiPietro. Leaf, Oden, and DiPietro are their
respective sport s biggest draft bust, but who is the biggest draft bust of all time?
Ryan Leaf, a quarterback from Washington State, was the second overall pick in
the 1998 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers. Leaf had a very promising three
year college career. In his three years of college, Leaf had a completion percentage
of 53.8, 7,433 passing yards, and a 59:24 touchdown to interception ratio.
However, when he entered the NFL, his stats were completely altered in his three
year NFL career, and not in the good way. His completion percentage dropped to
48.4, compiling only 3,666 passing yards, and an awful 14:36 touchdown to
interception ratio. Before he entered the NFL, his passion for football was in
question and retiring after three seasons, he proved that his passion for the sport was
never there. Taken after Leaf are multiple soon to be Hall of Famers, such as, Charles

DiPietro had a 2.45 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. DiPietro early

contract. However, he, like Oden, was riddled with multiple injuries and was not
able to live up to his hype as the number one pick. His unsuccessful NHL career, he
had a 2.87 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. DiPietro was taken

5. Review Of Stephenie Meyer s Twilight
Lena Andersson

Research Paper
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a romantic book about two teenagers, a girl named
Bella and a vampire named Edward. The two of them fall in love, and Bella is put
in danger by a different group of vampires. There have been several different types
of criticism towards this book and every criticism is different ; it includes being one
hundred percent justifiable to do absolutely anything for the one you love. Others
have also said that it was not intended to relate to teen girls, but it actually ended up
doing just that. Also, some critics have compared Twilightto Harry Potter in the
sense that both of the stories lie in a dream (Bethune). Brian Bethune wrote a
criticism called Love at First Bite which at first compares Stephenie Meyer s Twilight
to J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter. There are various reasons why Bethune believes
that Twilight is similar to Harry Potter. He believes that Meyer s and Rowling s
stories lie in a dream (Bethune). This is easy to agree with because Twilight is
based on a vampire friendly romance. This is obviously unrealistic and would never
happen in real life. In Harry Potter, the story is based on a warlock who fights off
all different kinds of magical and mythical creatures. Evidently, it is easy to figure
out that this story also lies in a dream. Bethune starts to talk about religion which is
based on Stephenie Meyer s real life and how her religion is somewhat duplicated in
her Twilight
6. Chronic Knee Pain Essay
Introduction
Chronic knee pain is a common symptom in pathologies and conditions such as
tibiofemoral and patellofemoral osteoarthritis (OA), anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
tears, and patellofemoral pain (PFP). These injuries are treated by physical therapists
today more than ever before.
In the United States, OA is the most common joint related disorder (Zhang and
Jordan, 2010). This study also reported that OA specific to the knee occurred in 13%
of women and 10% of males over the age of 60 years old in 2010. The prevalence of
OA is likely to increase in the future with the aging of the American population
(Zhang and Jordan, 2010). This increase in OA prevalence is likely to have a major
economic impact as well; a 2011 study utilizing ... Show more content on

Previous studies have shown that the PFP tends to be exacerbated during activities
that require high knee extensor forces of the quadriceps muscle group, such as
ascending and descending stairs, running, or squatting (Brechter Powers, 2002).
People with both OA in the knee and PFP have been shown to have lower knee
extensor moments during level walking, and it has been theorized that this pattern is
in an attempt to decrease the loading on the patellofemoral joint and therefore
decrease pain (Kaufman, Hughes, Morrey, Morrey, An, 2001; Brechter Powers,
2002). People with previous ACL reconstructions tend to display this same pattern of
decreased knee extensor moment, although in such cases it could be due to factors
other than pain (Ernst, Saliba, Diduch, Hurwitz, Ball, 2000).
A study by Messier et al in 1992 observed a shorter stride length during level
walking in participants with osteoarthritis compared to a healthy population. On the
contrary, Hewett, Myer, Ford (2006) observed that a larger stride length with the
knee at or near full extension was the cause of the majority of non contact ACL
injuries. Altering stride length may be a way of compensating for pain in existing
conditions such as OA or cause acute trauma leading to injuries such as ACL tears.
Further investigation of stride length was included in this study to observe if
7. Walt Disney Case Analysis
The Walt Disney Company (DIS) is a well known entertainment and media
powerhouse. While its two most iconic theme parks are located within the US, the
company also has parks in France, Japan, and Hong Kong among other places. The
media sector of Disney consists of some of the biggest names in entertainment. Aside
from its namesake Disney outlet, Disney is also the parent company of ESPN, Lucas
Films Ltd., ABC Network, and Marvel Studios. From a broader perspective,
Disney seems poised to make investors happy. While cord cutting (moving from
tradition tv to online streaming services) along with a decrease in subscribers to
its ESPN network has hurt the company, recent moves to enter the media streaming
services segment seem promising. In addition, the current government
administration has announced plans to reduce the corporate tax rate from 35% to
20%. The new administration has also proposed a way for companies to bring in
overseas profits without being taxed. This of course is good news for Disney and
its international operations. With a market cap of $151.4 billion, Disney is without
a doubt a large cap stock. Its beta of 1.34 indicates it is 34% more volatile than the
market. However, this also points to higher potential returns. While Disney s
dividend yield of 1.59% isn t the most impressive, it signifies that the companies is
reinvesting its earnings into other business ventures which would reward investors
with capital gains. With a PE ratio of 17.34,
8. The Right And The Protection Under The Constitution
Do civil authorities have the right to use every legal resource or tool within their
power to protect their citizens? As a citizen of a civilized country, I believe the civil
authorities have the right and it is their duty to do whatever is within their legal
authority to protect our way of life. At this time an ongoing debate in our political
discourse is the concern for privacyrights versus the concern for national security.
Benjamin Franklin once said Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase
a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety . I wholeheartedly agree
with this sentiment, as Americans, we are guaranteed the right and the protection
under the constitution to our privacy. During the digital age, social media has
exploded and caused all of us as a society to question the difference between private
and public information. I believe private information is one that is not shared
explicitly by an individual, therefore entitling the information to all the protections
guaranteed by our constitution. However, I believe once an individual decides to
post private information on a public social media platform that information is no
longer private and grants the civil authorities the legal power to access it.
According to a 2013 Pew Research report, 73% of Americans use social networking
sites, with this rise in popularity social media has also attracted criminals. I believe if
people are willing to put their personal information on the

10. Separations Of Powers In Australia Essay
In the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia, exists a doctrine called the
separation of powers. This doctrine exists to ensure that no single body of
government, is in a position to hold all the power in the nation, when making
decision s which can be detrimental to others. Yet at the same time Australia does not
use doctrine of separations of powers as strictly as other countries. It is the intention
of this essay to see how the doctrine of separations of power operates in Australia,
then compare it to another country. To see how it operates there and to view
differences and similarities which exist between these two countries.
To first understand why the doctrine of separations of powers operates differently
in Australia, we first must establish what exactly the Separations of powers is. As
such the Separations of Powers doctrine, can basically be expressed as separating
the three major bodies of government, to reduce the likelihood of one body
obtaining all the power in the government . The three bodies of government
comprise of: the Legislative, the Executive and the Judicial. The Legislative body
comprises up of parliament and their main role is to make the laws. The Executive
role is to enforce the laws and they are made up of the Prime Minister and ... Show

Australia, as section 64 states that all Federal Ministers must have sat in Parliament.
This can be simply expressed, as all ministers of Australia s must have sat in the
Lower House of Representatives, according to section 64 of the Constitution. The
Lower House of Representatives is part of the Legislative body, while ministers of
Australia are part of the executive body. This clearly establishes that the executive
and legislative bodies overlap, meaning that Australia does not possess a true
separation of
11. Decision-Making Models Essay
Decision Making Models
There are several decision making models to choose from in any given situation.
Some of these models available on the Internet are the Responsible Decision
Making Model, the Ethical Decision Making Model, the Ethics Toolkit PLUS
Model, the Vigilant Decision Maker Process, and some basic ones as well. In
general, all decision making models are the processes we use to make well thought
out decisions. There are three major elements of all decision making models. These
three elements are: how are criteria determined, how are alternatives generated, and
how are alternatives evaluated against criteria (Scholl, p. 1). In this paper, we will
use the Responsible Decision Making Model to explain how the process works ...

The Six Criteria for Step Four
The six criteria to use in step four of the Responsible Decision Making Model are as
follows (Scarbo, slides 7 8 and 16):
Will this decision result in a solution that will:
1) Promote my health and the health of others?
2) Protect my safety and the safety of others?
3) Protect the laws of the community?
4) Shows respect for myself and others?
5) Follows responsibly set guidelines?
6) Demonstrate that I have good character?
These six criteria encourage the use of critical thinking to evaluate the possible
outcome of each solution. Critical thinking is very important to making better
choices in life. When we don t take the time to analyze a situation, we seem to make
the wrong decisions for everyone involved.
Our Example of this Model
To better understand how the Responsible Decision Making Model works, we will
view how it helped Robin Francis make a very important decision. A few months
ago, Robin was working as a switchboard operator for St. Anthony s Medical Center
(SAMC) in St. Louis, Missouri. She received an offer to work as a switchboard
operator for Jefferson Memorial Hospital (JMH) in Crystal City, Missouri, which is
much closer to her home. Robin wanted to weigh the pros and cons of switching
jobs before making a final decision. SAMC is an hour away from her home, never
has a set schedule, and she was not
12. Medieval Universities Essay
Medieval Universities
The appearance of universities was part of the same high medieval education boom.
Originally universities were institutions where students could attain specialized
instruction in advanced studies. These types of studies were not available in the
average cathedral schools. Advanced schools existed in the ancient world, but did not
promote a fixed curricula or award degrees. The term university originally meant a
corporation of guild. All universities were corporations of students or teachers.
Guilds were originally established to protect the interests and rights of the members.
The majority of the universities practiced diverse curriculum ( a few universities did

This is usually done by filling out a questionnaire. At this point in time, the student
has already endured a full term of a professor. If the professor is doing a horrible or
unfair job, the student is forced to endure this without any relief. Not only does this
affect the student s drive to learn, but also his ability to learn. Having a poor
professor hinders the student s learning capabilities. When this happens, the student
has usually forgotten most of what he learned by the end of the term. This makes a
total waste of time and money.
As for medieval times, the student guilds began to have enormous power during
the 13th century. Students could discharge professors that did not meet the
specifications of a good professor. The students only had to refuse to attend the
classes. Professors of this time also had to pledge allegiance to a guild. The guild
would provide the professor s salary. Professors were dependent to the students and
had to receive permission from the students for any changes. Holidays and beginning
and duration time of lectures were decided by the student guilds. With the passage of
time, guilds began to structure the curriculum, and the time duration of each subject.
A fine would be imposed if the professor omitted material or went over the
designated duration time of lectures. The student guilds were kept informed of a
professor s behavior and incompetence and would discipline the professor

For centuries the criminal justice system has allowed lay people; people who are not
legally qualified to administer justice to the civilian population. Lay magistrates are
otherwise known as Justices of the Peace. Lay magistrates work is mainly connected
to criminal cases although they also deal with some civil matters, especially family

Unlike other members of the judiciary, their role and functions have limitations. As
individuals, lay magistrates may authorise search and arrest warrants, but mainly their
functions are performed as a bench of three. This may include hearing applications
for bail or be in charge of committal proceedings. In trial, they decide the facts, the
sentence and the law, though the concluding is under the advice of the justice s clerk.
The clerk otherwise known as the legal adivisor has to be qualified as a barrister or
solicitor for at least five years. The clerk s duty is to guide the magistrates on the
question of law, practice and procedure. The clerk can not assist in the decision
making and should not normally retire with the magistrates when they make their
discisions. Clerks deal with ruotine admistrative matters such as issuing warrents for
arrest, extend poilce bail, adhourn criminal procedings and deal with Early
Adminisitrative Hearings.
As lay magistrates perform an important role by being in charge over the vast
majority of criminal cases, they enjoy the same advantage of immunity from suit as
the rest of the judiciary as highlighted in Waltham Forest (1986) whereby the Court of
Appeal held that a

Shot in the Heart is the shocking story of the life of Gary Gilmore which serves as
a portrait of how his parents histories of violence, combined with the violence and
fear in his everyday life contributed to the notoriety of Gary Gilmore who we know
today as a cold blooded murderer, and the only prisoner who demanded the
implementation of his death sentence for his crimes. In this essay, I will discuss
how Bessie Gilmore s Mormon teachings to her sons of Mormon legends as well as
his father Gary Gilmore s regular beatings of his boys as well as his criminal and
generally violent histories contributed to development of Gary Gilmore s own

(GILMORE 17 BOOK OF MORMON) Smith continues in the Book of Mormon to
explain that to forgive an ultimate sin, the blood of the person who committed the
sin must be spilled on the ground as an offer to God. In other words, these boys
were taught by their own mother to fear God and that we, as human beings, are
forever indebted to him. Rather than being taught to worship, the boys were taught
to remember important parts of Mormon history such as the Mountain Meadow
Massacre which led eventually to the division of Mormons into good or bad saints.
Mormonism encouraged the killing of those who belonged to the bad saints. In
this massacre, farms were burned, men and children were murdered and often
women were raped, often by the direction of state militiamen. (17) While it was
true that Bessie may have been contributing to the initial factors which may have
sparked Gary s desire or destiny to become a criminal, she was very hopeful when
it came to her son, Gary in terms of the destiny he had in store, but as it turns out,
this is likely for her own benefit. Perhaps [Gary] was the one who might act out her
rage for her, and avenge all the years of abuse and exclusion she had suffered during
life in Utah. If ever a mother had a son who might pay back the legacies of her past,
then that alliance was Bessie and Gary Gilmore.

Nuclear stress testing has been available for over 50 years (Gerewitz, 2017). In fact,
it was well established when echocardiographic stress testing was developed. In the
beginning, these two modalities seemed to be in competition. Today these modalities
are good alternatives, each with its own advantages and disadvantages (Gerewitz,
2017). There are many diagnostic purposes for stress testing such as evaluation of
arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and valvular issues (Fanelli, 2012). The most
common indication of stress testing is for evaluation of left ventricular function
(Farrell, p. 350, 2014).
Basics of Nuclear Stress Testing Nearly half of all nuclear medicinetests performed
involve cardiac imaging (Farrell, p. 350, 2014).

2.1 ARCHITECTURE OF A GEOLOCATIONSYSTEM
An example of geolocation system architecture [KOS00] is shown in Figure. As
we said earlier, in order to fix a call the subscriber we are calling must be located
accurately. A geolocation service provider provides location information and
location aware services to subscribers. Upon a request from a subscriber for
location information about an MS, the service provider will contact a location
control center querying it for the coordinates of the MS. This subscriber could be
a commercial subscriber desiring to track a mobile device or a PSAP trying to
answer an E 911 call. The location control center will gather information required
to compute the MS s location. This information could be parameters such as
received signal strength, BTS ID, TOA of signals, and so on that we discuss later.
Depending on past information about the MS, a set of BS s could be used to page
the MS, and directly or indirectly obtain the location parameters. These are
sometimes called Geolocation base stations (GBSs). Once this information is
collected, the location control center can determine the location of the mobile with
certain accuracy and convey this information to the service provider. The service
provider will then use this information to visually display the MS s location to the
subscriber. Sometimes the subscriber could be the MS itself, in which case the
messaging and

IntroductionDatabase management system software (DBMS) is the software that
can operate on the front and back end of an organization s database. As do the
database requirements of an organization differ, so do the types of DBMS software.
The type of DBMS software required can often be narrowed down to the
organization s size and industry (Mohamed 2016). Currently, the top three DBMSs

MySQL also has a low total cost of ownership, in part, due to its diverse platform
capabilities, free use for simple users, and in house operations. As a result of
MySQL s broad compatibility and ability to perform typical database needs, it is an
appropriate selection for organizations looking for a cost effective DBMS for
lightweight to medium weight database requirements. MySQL has different editions
to meet the database needs of organizations. The different editions are as follows:
MySQL Community, Standard, Enterprise, and Cluster Carrier Grade ( MySQL ::
MySQL Editions 2016). The free MySQL Community Edition has the least features,
has very limited security, and only limited support on the forums. Organizations
seeking support might choose MySQL Standard Edition for an annual subscription at
$2,000, which offers 24/7 support but also has limited security and is unable to offer
security, backup capabilities, and scalability. If security is a concern for an
organization, MySQL Enterprise Edition offers the previous editions feature in
addition to security, database backup, scalability, and an audit program for a yearly
subscription of $5,000. For organizations operating at multiple locations with high
automation needs, MySQL Cluster Carrier Grade Edition can automatically support
the organization and has automated repair function to maintain continuity for an
annual subscription of $10,000. The
19. Comparing The Digestive Tract And System
The digestive tract and system is a complex process where each section has its own
enzymes to be produced in a specific order and relies on the one being completed to
carry out the next.
The first cavity is the mouth, where food digestion begins with the chewing of
food into smaller and manageable molecules (mastication). The first digestive
enzyme is also released here in the form of salivary amylase which begins the
breakdown of starch. It is the only point at which this enzyme will be released, so if
it is blocked, starchy products will not be broken down correctly.
Once food leaves the mouth, it travels down the oesophagus and into the second
cavity the stomach. Here digestives enzymes are released such as hydrochloric acid
and gastric
20. The Causes Of The Treaty Of Versailles
Introduction On June 28, 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed, ceasing World
War I. The treaty left Germany to blame of everything that happened due to the war.
Almost no opinion from the Germans was put in the treaty, therefore it was mostly
written by the Allied powers. The Treaty of Versailles was an attempt of peace, or
compromise after the conflict of World War I. It was a fight to decide what the treaty
would consist of and it would be the cause of a new conflict, World War II. In this
case instead of a compromise resolving the conflict, it causes the conflict.
France s economic situation was crushed. A large amount of money was spent to get
medical care for the many wounded people. France s sudden loss of manpower for
production and weak agriculture added to the failure in economy.
So much of the property damage was lost that it cannot be calculated or estimated.
Much of the war was fought in France, so many houses and villages were destroyed.
The war destroyed wine orchards and agricultural areas. Many discarded shells were
left on the ground, which stopped use of the land until it was cleaned up.
French lost about 1,697,800 people and fell behind Germany and England in
population. It was truly devastating because nearly every family lost at least one
family member. Around 700 people were disabled. Children s parents died and
eventually there were many orphans.
Great Britain lost around 750,000 soldiers and 1,500,000 were wounded. Nearly 2

Dinosaur National Park and It s Geology
The mountains and rivers stretching between northern Utah and Colorado hold an
array of secrets from the ancient past. While the average tourist admiring the rocks,
fossils, and and cliffs of Dinosaur National Park may get the jist of the park, they
may not comprehend the extent to what it takes for this anomaly to form. Dinosaur
National Park is mostly known for not just it s beauty, but for it s large variety of
dinosaur fossils. Even though fossils are found all over the world, this park is
special due to the conditions that the dinosaur fossils came to be in one location of
its exquisite Carnegie Quarry. It was around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Its past occurrence is recognized by unusual patterns of drainage, changes in
accumulating sediment, and cyclic patterns of sediment deposition (Pederson 1).
( Figure 1. USGS National Geologic Map Database, Map of Dinosaur National
Park) The park was formed on a floodplain and there are many pieces of evidence
pointing to this. Some of the most stunning pieces of evidence are the red
mudstones found in the area. This can be very brightly colored, ranging from red,
maroon, or reddish brown, and its banding in the outcrop is visible from a great
distance. The reddish color suggests better drainage and therefore, a drier, more
oxidizing condition on the floodplain (Marano 1). In addition to other traits of the
sandstone, Morano explains These sandstones can be used to determine the
direction of flow , which would explain the why the expansive colored sandstones
are found extensively throughout the park (Marano 2). Most of the fossils you
will find will be in the channel sandstones because the dinosaurs were washed
together before being buried over, the Carnegie Quarry is an excellent example of
this. The Morrison formation overall is considered one of the best spots in the world
for finding dinosaur fossils due to the fact it was subject to the perfect environment
for creating fossils. This was a final destination for thousands of dinosaur fossils and
many more that have yet been excavated.

What argument does he provide for why we should not fear death? What is the
ethical purpose of this argument for how we should live our lives? Do you agree
with Epicurus s views? Why or why not?
Epicurus was a hedonist, a materialist and a consequentialist who strongly believed
that in order to attain the good life one must live a pleasant existence free of worry
and pain. Through reflection of the concepts in Epicurus s Letter to Menoeceus this

In order to live the good life, one must eliminate all pain and live a life with
maximum pleasure. Unlike other hedonist philosophers, Epicurus evaluated pleasures
by their duration rather than their intensity, making psychological pleasures much
more desirable to physical pleasures. Epicurus, as a consequentialist thought that in
order to achieve the good life, one had to logically assess future consequences of
human actions through rational reflection and evaluation. If one were to rationally
reflect on death they would soon realise that there was nothing but oblivion after
death (de Botton 2000, p. 59).
The Leading Doctrines of Epicurean philosophy state that it is impossible to live
the pleasant life without also living sensibly, nobly and justly, and conversely it is
impossible to live sensibly, nobly and justly without living pleasantly (Epicurus,
1998b, p.53). Therefore, the good Epicurean believes in order to live virtuously,
one must adhere to a pleasurable life. For Epicureans it is impossible to live
virtuously and unpleasantly or vice versa. In addition, Epicurus describes pleasure as
our primary native good (Epicurus 1998a, p. 51), implying that all human actions are
driven by pleasures and by the avoidance of pains. Another imperative concept to
Epicurean philosophy is Epicurus idea of the three fundamental aspects in attaining
pleasure, those of friendship, freedom and an analysed life
24. Pro-Consent Essay
The three main aspects of politics, religion and the women s right to choose go into
the different arguments over the debates of abortion. One of the movements which is
pro life which is against the legalization of abortion. Another main movement is pro
choice which believes that if the fetus is a person then the women can t if the abortion
. However, pro consent believes that the women have a right to choose to consent
to the condition of pregnancy or obtain an abortion (McDonagh, 23). Pro consent
supports the rights of all living beings. People in the general public in non similar
situations should not have a right to decide a woman s right to abort a child. A
woman may choose an abortion if she is unable to care for a child... Show more

The reality becomes that all of Americans and most Catholics are in favor of legal
abortions. However, 81% want abortion reduction which seems odd; but proves how
religious views influence politics (Cahill, 188). In the Supreme Court ruling Roe vs.
Wade made abortion legal because of single minded determination being questioned.
Meanwhile, that may be the very thing that will reverse it (Cahill, 188 89). Political
candidate have to relate to the catholic bipartisan party in order to win an election.
This undermines the idea of the separation of church and state.
The general public believes that no child should live in unsafe circumstances. That
means no fetus should be knowingly born into an unhealthy environment. George
Tiller stated that, Abortion is a matter of survival for women (Young, 416). For
example, a father raped and impregnated his nine year old daughter. The clarity that
the nine year old would be unfit mother and not developed enough to go through
pregnancy is evident (Young, 416 17). This coincides with Judith Jarvis Thomson s
opinion of Pro Consent.
A very vocal anti abortion protester stated for a video camera that he believed all
fetuses should be born, although, he was divorced and legally found as an unfit
parent (Young, 419). This is a prime example of unknowledgeable activists who
argue that women should be forced to keep the babies by the state should take care
of the babies they could not support. However, a
25. Analysis Of No Longer At Ease By Chinua Achebe
In the 1950s, most African nations commenced fighting for independence. In this
context, Chinua Achebe wrote his second novel, No Longer at Ease published during
Nigeria s independence. The story occurs in Lagos and Umuofia and the main
character, Obi, got money from the Umuofians to study in England. Nonetheless,
when he returned to Nigeria, he is trapped between his tradition and western culture.
In the book, Achebe stresses a theme of colonial mindset through the refutation of
Nigerian culture, through the use of English and through the divinization of the white
man.
Achebe highlights the presence of a colonial mindset in Nigeria throughout the book.
Indeed, he shows how colonialism affected Nigerian customs. For instance, ... Show

over local languages and a deification of white man. These consequences altogether
gave birth to a complex of inferiority still perceptible in Nigeria through the music,

the cultural events. However, colonial mentality is not only present in Africa but in
almost all African countries. Therefore, the question that should be asked is what the
correlation between underdevelopment in Africa and colonial mindset

27. Delinquency Labels
Delinquency labels relates to economic statuses, racial differences and gender
inequality. While gender inequality highlights the differences in the prestige, power
and status of men and women in societies, they have an effect on crime patterns.
Differences in gender significantly impact on treatment of children by the juvenile
system (Siegel Welsh, 2014). Although males and females differ on personality traits,
there is little evidence to show that they are impulsive than females. The theory by
Siegel and Welsh (2014) predicts no difference between crimeand self control despite
some researchers proposing otherwise based on the labeling theory. According to the

29. What Is Effective Altruism As A Philosophy And Social...
Peter Singer, author of The Most Good You Can Do, defines effective altruism as a
philosophy and social movement which applies evidence and reason to working
out the most effective ways to improve the world (Singer, 2015, p. 4 5). Given this
definition, who are effective altruists? They are individuals who wish to make
positive contributions to society by considering their course of action in an
objective manner. To make this clearer, Singer contrasts effective altruists from
warm glow givers (Singer, 2015, p. 5). Warm glow givers donate to charities to feel
good without truly understanding how their donations are utilized to help people.
Hence, these givers will offer their donations not to the most pressing causes, but to
causes that appeal to their heart. On the other hand, effective altruists do not
immediately act based on their emotions. Instead, they take a moment to step back
and critically analyze if a certain action will help as much people as they hope it
will. In short, they want to target the most urgent issues by maximizing whatever
resources they have for the benefit of a larger group of people. Since effective
altruism is a movement aimed at helping the most people, who are these people that
altruists hope to help? It is clear to me from this chapter that so far, the goal of
effective altruism is to uplift the poor. In this chapter, Singer states that money will
be utilized best if it is directed towards uplifting the needy in developing countries.
30. Examples Of Impulse In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Essay
I think that the romantic impulse is in all of us and that sometimes we live it for a
short time, but it s not part of a sensible way of living. It s a heroic path and it
generally ends dangerously. I treasure it in the sense that I believe it s a path of great
courage. It can also be the path of the foolhardy and the compulsive (Champion). Jane
Champion believes that the compulsive and the foolhardy shouldn t follow the
impulse of love as it is dangerous. Romeo of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is
both compulsive and foolhardy yet he still chooses to impulsively follow the path of
love. This following of impulse causes a large amount of misfortune for him and the
people around. He shows this impulse in various way the first being falling in love
with Juliet, then murdering Tybalt being the second and committing suicide in a very
untimely moment. It is these three moments which show how a widely discussed
theme in Romeo and Juliet is impulse and how impulse leads to misfortune. ... Show

Plants are an important part of the ecosystem. They provide most of the oxygen on
Earth and are part of the food chain for animals on land and sea (Miller Levine,
2006). Plants are unique in their manner of reproduction. Some plants do not produce
seeds. They reproduce asexually by vegetative reproduction, producing offspring that
are identical to the parent plant(Miller Levine, 2006, p. 622). Other plants produce
seeds and depend on the seeds survival to reproduce. The seed s survival is
dependent on several environmental factors, such as where the seed grows, presence
of birds or other animals that eat the seeds, the temperature, moisture, and nutrient
levels of the environment (Quinn, 2005). For a seed to grow and mature... Show more

During the early 1960 s, E Commerce businesses conducted electronic transactions
via primitive computer networks but the way these transactions were exchanged
provided little to no security(34).This made online transactions on WWW(World

chance of risking their information, on an unprotected system. During the early
1960 s came Electronic Data Interchange(EDI). EDI replaced traditional mailing
and faxing of documents with a digital transfer of data from one computer to
another .(35)This was the first step toward the E Commerce that is present
today. Then the influential SSL protocol would come to be which helped to improve
the state of security on the WWW. This led to more protocols being introduced,
leading to other detrimental protocols such as (3D Secure, TLS, SET). These
protocols, that were just mentioned are still widely used today. This paper will go

threats according to FindLaw UK, major threats to E Commerce can be grouped into
two categories, malicious and accidental threats .(34) The first threat gone over will
be malicious threats which include hackers attempting to penetrate a system and steal

whole other spiritual level there, ; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as
Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The psychological benefits include reduced
mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale
(Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer, amp;#8220;stroking an

Patients who watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who

34. Essay about Solar System
Solar System
Humans live on a small planet in a tiny part of a vast universe. This part of the
universe is called the solar system, and is dominated by a single brilliant star the sun.
The solar system is the earth s neighbourhood and the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are the Earth s neighbours. They all have
the same stars in the sky and orbit the same sun.
Scientists believe the solar system began about 5 billion years ago, perhaps when a
nearby star exploded and caused a large cloud of dust and gas to collapse in on
itself. The hot, central part of the cloud became the sun, while some smaller pieces
formed around it and became the planets. Other fragments became asteroids and

If you approached the Solar System from space, one planet would stand out as very
odd. The third world from the sun is brightly coloured, in shades of mainly blue, with
patches of red and green, and constantly shifting patterns of white cloud. And it has an

water is frozen to ice.
Soon after the birth of earth, it was a very different place from the one we know today.

However, he did not publish his work until thirty two years later in 1704. Newton

The nucleus has many parts to its structure; nuclear envelope, nucleolus, chromatin,

nucleus that makes ribosomes and RNA. Chromatin are made of proteins and DNA.
They organize into chromosomes before cell division. Pores are channels that go

37. How Does Mark Twain Use Syntax
Each writer has their own style and uses syntax and diction in different and unique
ways. Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, written by Mark Twain demonstrates three types
of writing. The novel and the short story consist of the first person point of view style
of writing, as well as patterned syntactic sentences, and finally informal diction with
polysyndeton.
First, both sources include the first person point of view in which the narrator is
usually the main character of the story. This plays a large role in the language
structure. This helps to create this specific point of view. In Chapter 12 of The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, there are multiple examples of the narrator, Huck
Finn, speaking about the plot of the story, directed towards the reader. According
to Twain, I wanted to get aboard of her and slink around a little and see what there
was there. So I say: Le s land on her, Jim. This quote tells the reader, that the
narrator is a character, himself, in the novel that is trying to make a connection with
the reader. It is easy to notice this when Huck is thinking to himself, and also writes
dialogue and conversations with other characters in the story. Twain uses first person
point of view to mold the way the reader interprets the text. The first person point of
view is also present in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as both
stories are written by Twain, they are deemed

Brutus possesses a gullible personality, which becomes justified when he trusts a
random letter, when Caesar reacts dramatically as he stabs him, and when he allows
Antony to give a speech at Caesar s funeral. After reading a letter lying by the
window, Brutus changes his perspective to Caesar completely. After reading aloud, he
fully believes that the revolt Cassius proposed recently is justified through a mere
letter thrown at his window. Furthermore, within this letter, he shows an inclination
in perspective right away as he says to himself: Shall Rome, etc. Thus must piece

message, however, his judgement falls on first impressions, showing his lack of
common sense and how manipulable he is. Moreover, after reading this forged letter,
Brutus never questions the authenticity of the message, demonstrating that he is

39. Narrative Mode In A Fort Of Nine Towers
While the main mode of discourse in the memoir is descriptive, the author also uses
some elements of the narrative mode as well. Authors can use multiple modes
throughout a piece, dispersing and utilizing them in different sections to create a
more communicable storyline. The narrative mode is mainly used to list the details,
or order of events, of a situation to demonstrate what happened, when it happened
and in what order it happened. In many instances, it is used in a shorter context,
such as a paragraph, rather than an entire work, hence its sporadic use in A Fort of
Nine Towers. One example of the author s use of this mode is in a section
documenting Omar s escape from a sniper in Kabul:
My father ran to the other side of the street and yelled at me, Move it! As we ran, a
line of bullets followed us, hitting the pavement inches from our feet. We crouched
along a shabby wall opposite our courtyard. The shooting stopped. ... We sat there
for a few minutes and had no idea where to go. A guy with a rifle crept slowly
toward us. He was a sniper, too, trying to shoot the sniper on the mountain. He
pointed his rifle upward and took aim. High on the mountain, we saw a flash of
light, and a second later a bullet hit the leg of our sniper. (Omar 236) ... Show more

Essentially, he focused more on the story, the timeline rather than providing sensory
details. This is particularly effective in extreme moments such as this one as it keeps
the audience s attention through creating for a more accurate and explicit sequencing

employing the use of the narrative mode is when Qais Akbar Omar and his family left

Norcantharidin and analogues: synthesis and biological use as potential anticancer
agents
Norcantharidin (NCTD), the demethylated analogue of cantharidin, has been used to
treat human cancers in China since 1984. It was recently found to be capable of
inducing apoptosis in human colon carcinoma, hepatoma and glioblastoma cells by
way of an elusive mechanism.1 Norcantatharidins and their analogues are synthetic
anticancer agents which have been used in various different procedures for the
inducing growth arrest and apoptosis of tumour cells and also provide therapeutic
and adjuvant therapeutic applications in the treatment of cancer agents.2 This report
will discuss the various different NCTD that are currently being studied, highlighting
the synthesis of these NCTD and their various biological pathways that are taken in
order to inhibit the growth of the correspondent cancer cell. In particular NCTD
induced apoptosis of the hepatoma cells will be considered and also highlighting the
different views with the synthesis of the particular NCTD and also the effectiveness
of the methodology and its observations in response to other NCTD and their
mechanism in attacking the hepatoma cell site.

Westernization is the result of the contact between western and non western cultures.
Beginning in the fifteenth century and playing out until the nineteenth century,
colonialism and neo imperialism by means of the Euro Atlantic economy s authority,
played a major part in the spread of western culture. For example, even after
decolonizing and becoming their own countries with their own governance, many
former colonies adopted aspects of western politics, even if they firmly opposed other
aspects of western culture. Twentieth century and twenty first century globalization
took various forms. In the 1950s, there was accelerated postwar globalization through
American and European multinational corporations, like McDonald s and
mcdonaldization throughout the world. Then, beginning in 1970, the rise of
industrializing economies meant the international division of labor, with low wage
and high wage zones, and in the 1980s, the United States took on an important role in
neoliberal globalization through the Washington Consensus, a reform package
designed by Washington D.C. comprised of a set of specific economic policy
prescriptions for critically economically unstable developing countries, the
International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank. In 2000, globalization was
heightened through the emergence of the economies of countries including India,
China, Brazil, and Russia (the BRICs). In recent decades, as opposed to during
colonial and recent post colonial times,

43. Recommendation For Hand Hygiene Reminder System

Recommendation for Hand Hygiene Reminder System One recommendation for the
healthcare setting is to invest in a hand hygiene reminder system. In this system, the
employee would wear a lighted badge that senses when hand hygiene was completed,
reminds with a sound when they forget and reports if they are noncompliant (O
Reilly, Kevin B.). Without proper hand hygieneand infection control, patients can
get infections that could have previously been avoided ( Compliance: Two Hands at
a Time ). These are called hospital acquired infections, or healthcare associated
infections (HAI s), and can lead to death, especially in hospitalized patients whose
health is already compromised ( Forget to wash? Devices track hand washing
adherence in hospitals ). Patient safety is a priority. HAI s are prevented and safety
is maintained by incorporating this hand hygiene reminder system into the infection
control practices at Park Nicollet s Methodist Hospital. This recommendation
pertains to people such as nurses and doctors who provide direct patient care and
also to the leaders of Park Nicollet who make the executive decisions. As an infection
control nurse, I provide evidence of why this is important for the healthcare team.
The role of the audience is to make a decision about whether this is something the
hospital needs and support in the decision that is made. This report studies how the
hand hygiene reminder systems work, how the advantages

External customer requirements may be gathered and transformed into specific,
actionable process improvements using quality function deployment, a well
structured product development process which dictates what the market requires into
a program to create, manufacture, and deliver it. However, teams should collaborate
to arrive at a common understanding of the customer needs and determine the
appropriate technical requirement of each stage. As soon as customer expectations

When deciding to expand your international market PEST analysis must be
considered. This would give an overview of the different macroeconomic factors
the company has to take into consideration. The PEST approach looks at political,
economic, social and technological factors. The political factor looks at how a
government interferes in the economy in areas such as trade restrictions, tax policy,
and tariffs. Economics factors have great influence in how business operates and
makes decisions about how it needs to grow or expand its business. Social factors
look at the cultural behavior such as attitudes and values and demography of a
country. These social factors affect the demand of a company s product.
Technological factors determine barrier to entry, production level and influence
outsourcing decisions. Using this approach we selected the following regions for

It shows that Chinatown is very busy at night. The lighting in the restaurant when
showing this scene is kind of warm, not too much light not too little and they have
a Chinese instruments playing in the background when entering the restaurant. It
begins with a Aerial shot because the camera is hanging above in the restaurant
showing all of the families that are eating, they then they zoom in on the Coleman
family. Here Anna wants to ask her mom if she can go to a band audition instead
of the wedding rehearsal, you can see Anna fidgeting with a Chinese chopstick.
They get into an argument, they ask to be excused and walk towards another part
in the room. This is a follow shot with a violin playing making the argument kind
of intense. The scene has another angle shot directly at the faces of Tess and Anna
when they are going back and forth. When they get up to talk somewhere else you
can hear their argument loud and clear from across the room causing Ryan and the
waitresses to overhear them. The scene uses key lighting (main lighting) on the two
waitresses (also a mother and a daughter) when they over hear the argument, the
mother has a smirk on her face that shows she has an idea for these two and the
daughter looks at her and says to her oh momma, stay out of it please? But obviously

Within the beginning scene, the main character Brain is talking to his friend, he
says that he doesn t have an excuse and is going to stay in. Then a mysterious ghost
dog appears out of nowhere. Brian recognizes him as Spuds Mackenzie and asks
him why are you here . Spuds reply s with his soul can t rest unless people drink
bud lights with friends . He goes on to say that his friends are hanging out without
him. Brian didn t think it was a big deal. Spuds says that he is a man and Brian is a
man, and to take his leash, he has to show him something. Brian is dragged to the
past, where he is shown his friends sitting and joking in a bar without him. They say

When Brian and Spuds were standing outside the bar looking in at his friends.
Brian s friends are sitting at a table laughing hysterically at a joke. The joke
involved the three words Sad Bacon Legs , Brian didn t understand but to a lot of
people of the audience they would think that three word are hilarious. Another
funny part in the commercial was when Spuds gave Brian the fedora to wear to the
party, but took it back because it was not working. The country had recently gone
through a faze, where fedora s were in style, but quickly fallen out of style. It was
about as quick as in the commercial. The commercial had made the audience feel
sympathy towards Brian because he was not there with his friends. He wasn t
there with the inside jokes, or with the trivia night were he knew the answer.
Within the story line of this commercial there is a common story most people
could see. The story starts out with Brian in his house with a ghost that appears out
of nowhere. Then to the past about a week ago, to a couple days forward, then
finally back to the present time. A lot of people can see this is a parody of the
Christmas Carol. The story went well with the commercial, because it made it
emotionally appealing and it was fun to watch. The story also had small twists in it
like when Spuds said that both he and Brian were men, or when Spuds heard an ex
girlfriend and ran

Religion
Historical and Ethnographical Study of the Rastafari Religion The Rastafari people
are a group of (primarily) men that originated in Jamaica, especially in and around
Kingston, who believe in being repatriated to a designated homeland in Africa.
Through their reinterpretation of the bible, an ascetic leaning lifestyle, and heavy
influence of previous Revivalist religions and African Myal traditions, they have
carved a religion that is worldly, conscientious, and , now, world renouned. Icons such
as Bob Marley, spliffs, their red, gold, and green flag, and their memorable accent

Following a period of nearly 50 years of post slavery Revivalism, particularly Zion
and Pukumina, efforts in Jamaica, some of the adherents were growing tired of
the obeah, or the carried over mysticism. Zion Revivalism was more traditionally
Christian, while Pukumina was much more varied and allowed for any spirit to
possess, thus it was the more influenced by Myal. The Rasta religion was partially
founded on attempts to eliminate these mystical elements, but there were many
more causes that formed the religion. It originally rose up out of the black urban
masses of Kingston. In the 1920s 40s there was a massive influx of migration into
Kingston. Most had no guarantees of jobs, shelter, or survival, but the dwindling
sugar trade, increased corporatization of agriculture, and lack of farmable land
forced many into the slums around Trenchtown and Old Spanish Road. It was in
these slums and ghettos that the early militancy and anger of Rasta was kindled.
Some of Rasta s predecessors were very charismatic people and led hundreds of their
followers in street services, marches, and demonstrations against the downpressors,
those that were part of Babylon, or the white establishment. They rallied around the
calls to end European colonialism in Africa, increased the quality of living in their
home slums, and the correction of the slave injustice and repatriation of Africans to

It is viable to assess that 3;3 year old Julie s language comprehension is on target
from analyzing these video clips, as development is fairly predictable for typically
developing children. J. understands both yes/no and more advanced wh word
questions, which emerge between Late Stage II to Early Stage III (p. 184). Cathy
says to J., Do you know when your birthday is? J. responds, June 22nd. She also
doesn t hesitate in answering Chris when he asks, Besides strawberries, what other
kind of berries do you like? J. does have trouble with why questions, which are later

During this time, fast mapping is used to quickly incorporate words into the child s
lexicon (perhaps bistro will become one of them), sometimes at a rate of nine new
words per day (p.185 186). J s content includes parts of speech such as: articles (the,
a), main verbs (fly, eat), nouns (chair, nest), proper nouns (Chris, Max), pronouns (he,
they), adjectives (sad), and prepositions (in, on). Some examples of J s more complex
vocabulary include: museum, restaurant, macaroni, strawberries, raspberries, and
lollipop. When recapping Where the Wild Things Are, J. begins to make an error of
not using an antecedent for the pronoun (he), but backtracks to clarify. She says, So
he... Max, then puts his wild things suit on and sailed away to where the wild things
are. After she s introduced Max and the wild things, she goes on to use the correct
subjective pronouns (he and they). J. correctly sorts out that the singular pronoun he
works for Max, but when referring to the wild things, the group pronoun they is

Have you ever read a novel in which a character is talked about often but never
appears or appears but for a brief moment? At times you may think nothing of that
character, you could assume they add nothing to the context of the novel and are
placed to fill up a couple pages, but on the contrary. In some works of literature a
characterwho does not appear at all can have a significance presence. In J.D Salinger
s novelThe Catcher in the Rye Holden the main character s brother, Allie never
appears but is mentioned multiple times. The lack of Allies presence is vital to the
key aspects of Salinger s novel. Often this lack of presence from a character is
done on purpose. It can be done to signify something, make the novel multi
dimensional or to enhance the writing. Ally s absence affects the main character,
the theme of the book, and a development of characters. Allie s lack of appearance
greatly affects Holden s actions throughout novel. This absence is due to his death
at the early age of 11. The major loss of his innocent red headed brother was enough
to break Holden at the tender age of 13. When Allie s death occurred the loss of
Holden s sanity soon followed. I was only thirteen, and they were going to have me
psychoanalyzed and all, because I broke all the windows in the garage. I don t
blame them. I really don t. Holden says. When Holden found out Allie died he didn t
cry and morn the way I believe his parents and Phoebe did. He morned through
52. organizational theory Essay
Question #1
Despite the economic progress brought about in part by scientific management, critics
were calling attention to the seamy side of progress which included severe labor
management conflict, apathy, boredom, and wasted human resources to examine the
discrepancy between how an organization was supposed to work versus how the
workers actually behaved. In addition, factors like World War I, developments in
psychology and later the depression, all bought into question, some of the basic
assumptions of Scientific Management. (Internet) This is where the Human Relations
School steps in. Its primary focus is the importance of attitudes and feelings of
workers, while informal roles and norms influence performance. At the most ... Show

To Mayo, this was not only the key to organizational success, but also the goal to
achieving social stability. He also viewed informal group processes as the promoting
tool for social integration, as well as stopping absenteeism, turnover, and discontent
among employees.
Another important person at this time was Chester Barnard, who combined practical
experience in management and corporate affairs with a complex and sophisticated
theory of organization and human behavior. His focus projected from an emphasis on
the organization to an analysis of the nature of an individual. He placed priority on
tension between the organization and the individual noting that ...organizations are
constructed for particular purposes, but they employ individuals who may have
widely divergent objectives and desires. (Jaffe, 74) Barnard noted that cooperation
was needed for the organization to work effectively and efficiently. He discussed in
his book, The Functions of the Executive, the relationship between incentives and
contributions, and the need to join these together to meet an equilibrium of some
sort. He claimed that this system would satisfy individuals and obtain contributions
from them while at the same time making everyone happy. To do this, he used
distribution hoping to gain cooperative activity from the employees. The executive
needs to note that distribution can be good in one situation but
53. Information Systems And Database Technology
Health information systems and database technology continue to advance and grow
and allow users to pull data and interconnect like ever before. The goal for this
discussion is to better familiarize you with fundamental concepts in relation to
database systems and relevant health information standards. We will also be
comparing three of the top ten most purchased EHR systems for comparison,
allowing you to understand the functionality of each system, as well as, the barriers
to implementation. A databaseis a collection of information organized so that a
computer program can quickly select desired pieces of data. A database can be
thought of as an electronic filing system. An example would be how a large
hospital uses and stores medical records. Most databases are organized by fields,
records, and files. Databases can be quite simple counting only a single table
which is composed of a record, which are made up of fields or can be large and
contain many records and fields (Beaumont 2000). Databases can be paper based
but most are computer based. Databases in computers are usually handled by
software called DataBase Management Systems (DBMS) (Beaumont 2000). These
are a collection of programs that enables you to organize, enter, and select data in a
database. Some examples are Oracle, Access and Paradox. Some components of
DBMS include table and structured data, meta data, action/privileges, queries and
reports, and programming language. A table is collection of data

Train A is going 60mph and train B is going 80mph. The reason this may seem
familiar is because it is a homework problem that appears before many students as a
critical thinking question, as if calculating train speeds will be relevant in students
futures. Contrastingly, financial literacy homework is rarely taught directly to
students in school, despite it being essential for present day survival. If managing

Finally, learning about dealing with money steers adolescents towards more

should be improved by implementation of mandatory financial literacy courses, as
managing money is vital for high school students.
In current society, teenagers face impending financial responsibilities regarding post
secondary loans and jobs, and the majority will be heading into these obligations
without sufficient education. 6,800 twelfth grade students completed the 2008
Jumpstart Coalition survey of financial literacy, correctly answering an average of
48.3 percent of all questions, the lowest ever recorded, while in 1997, an average of
57.3 percent of the questions was answered correctly by twelfth graders, 9 percent
more than 11 years later ( The Financial Literacy of Young American Adults ). The
survey questioned students understanding of credit cards, bank loans and investment,
much of which was foreign to these young adults. It is irrefutable to say that money
in society becomes increasingly important as time progresses, so ideally, knowledge
of it should also be increasing. Instead, it is decreasing, suggesting that as the world
becomes more financially complex, students are less understanding of the concepts,
which will likely
