Chronic Injuries Robbed Ken Griffey Jr. of Homerun King...
He hit 600 home runs (5th most all time), won 10 gold gloves, and made 13 All
Star Games. In almost 150 years baseball history, only the great Willie Mays can
match Ken Griffey Jr. in these statistical categories. However, despite these
extraordinary stats, Ken Griffey Jr. may be the ultimate What Could Have Been
player. An incredibly promising career was derailed in the latter half by chronic
injuries that robbed him of hundreds of games. If not for these injuries, Griffey was
well on his way to becoming the Home RunKing (Stark, 2010) and possibly the
greatest player ever. Despite these setbacks, Griffey is still revered as one of the
greatest and most popular MLB players ever. The savior of baseball in Seattle and

He gained endorsements with Pizza Hut and General Mills, and had his own
Nintendo video game and Nike shoe line. He also appeared in many TV shows such
as The Simpsons and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, as well as movies, and wrote his
own autobiography (Ferguson, 2011). His 1989 rookie card remains the most
popular baseball card ever. During the prime of his career in the late 1990s, he was
easily the most popular baseball player and possibly even most popular athlete in the
world.
Nowhere in the country is he more popular than in Seattle, where he is considered
the savior of baseball in the city. In the 1980s, the Mariners were a historically
moribund franchise playing in the crumbling Kingdome. Prior to his arrival, the
Mariners had been seriously considering a move to Washington DC, but that all
changed once Griffey came (Fort, 2000, p. 313). His exciting style of play
immediately attracted fans and attention to the franchise (Caple, 2010). In 1995,
Griffey led a miracle rally to the Mariners first playoff appearance in decades
(Reader, 2010), and capped the season by scoring the game winning run to defeat
the New York Yankees in the first round (Schaefer, 2003, p.6). His rise rejuvenated
baseball and the city in general, leading the building of the new stadium, Safeco Field
, dubbed the House That Griffey Built . Griffey s most enduring legacy, however,
was being one of the few star players who were not involved in
The Role Of The Holy Spirit
The Role of the Holy Spirit in Salvation
HOMI 860 397 LUO
Jonathan Behler
L23929745
What is the Holy Spirit s role in salvation? How can sinful man come to the saving
knowledge of a Holy God? What part does the Holy Spirit play in regeneration?
These are the questions we are going to investigate today. My intention with this
sermon is to challenge us and encourage us in the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit
in the regeneration of a soul. With that said let us begin our study.
Let us begin by defining the word regeneration. According Charles Ryrie
regeneration is an act of God that imparts eternal life to sinful man (Ryrie, 1965).
Titus 3:5 (King James Version) states, Not by works of righteousness which we
have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Many individuals will sometimes utilize the words
justification, regeneration, and sanctification interchangeably. (Ryrie, 1965).
Justification is the declaring of a person to be just or righteous (Elwell, 1997).
Sanctification is the process that the Holy Spirit uses after a person is justified to
become more like Jesus. Regeneration is what starts the journey of eternal life, which
is becoming born again, regeneration occurs instantaneously.
In John 3:3 (King James Version) Jesus states: Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom
of God.
Breach of Contract Essay
Breach of Contract Jane has decided to buy a dinner service. A neighbour tells her
that a sister in law, Carolyn, is planning to sell her valuable Coalport service. Jane
telephones Carolyn who tells her that the Coalport is a full service, in immaculate
condition and completely original. Jane inquires whether the Coalport is in athlone
blue , knowing that this is particularly valuable. Carolyn replies, It must be, it s the
proper Coalport blue colour . Jane further inquires whether replacement Coalport
can still be purchased in the event of breakages. Carolyn tells her, Well I broke a
dinner plate a year or two ago and had no trouble buying another one . Jane agrees to
send Carolyn a cheque... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not vague or ambiguous as in Dimmock v Hallet (1866); and as such will
amount to a statement of fact. As such, it satisfies the first requirement for an
actionable misrepresentation. With regard to the query as to the colour of the
service, C would probably argue that this was merely an opinion. The general rule,
as stated, in Bisset v Wilkinson (1927) is that a statement of opinion, from a
person who is not an expert, will not form an actionable misrepresentation.
However, in Smith v Land House Property Corporation (1884), it was stated that an
opinion may amount to a statement of fact when it is made by one who knows best
as it carries implicit assertion that facts are known to support the opinion. This, the
expertise and knowledge that C possesses in respect of Coalport goods will be
important as to whether this constitutes a statement of fact. Finally in Brown v
Raphael (1958), it was stated that a statement of fact will often be found if the
representor is in a far stronger position to know the facts than the representee.
Obviously, this is the case here because Carolyn actually owns the goods in question
so presumably knows them, and also Jane is not at the liberty to inspect the service
herself. With regard to the statement about obtaining a replacement, it is questionable
as to whether this will constitute a statement of fact.
Gender Inequality With Stereotypical Representations
From...
Essay #1 Society often projects the ideal ideas of what is acceptable according to its
standards formed by time and trends. Gender inequalities along with stereotypical
representations from society are presented as themes among Sandra Cisnero s and
Junot DiМЃaz s short stories. While society may present and project an accepted
view among the gendernorms, each person is unique in his or her opinions and
experiences. Though society often portrays the stereotypical dominant role of the
male and the submissive female and an accepted view on heterosexuality, not all
people classify under these categories. Women are sometimes perceived as feeble
minded but sometimes underrated in actuality. One example is Anguiano... by Sandra

While the mother is working and trying to maintain the household while dealing with
the absent father, this demonstrates that sometimes women are not as feeble as they
may be perceived, especially in cases such as having an absent significant other.
Another example is Cisnero s Bien Pretty where the female narrator finds herself
quickly falling in love with Flavio ManguiМЃa and feels emotionally weak, but
ultimately discovers that he commited an infidelity with two other women (Cisnero,
Bien Pretty 138). While the narrator may be emotionally weak in terms of having
feelings for her significant other, she concludes that she could happily live alone
without a significant other; society sometimes does not approve of this necessarily,
but expects women to be submissive to a man. While society portrays men are
portrayed as dominant and the leader of the household as and may determine the
idea of masculinity, men may be susceptible to the same hardships as women as well.
One example is DiМЃaz s Fiesta where the boy narrator and his brother, Rafi,
withold his father s infidelity a secret from their mother for favor of keeping the
family together. While acts of infidelity are frowned upon and the father may be
described as a toxic figure to the household with child abuse, the boy narrator suffers
from emotional and physical
Choose Two Aspects Of Life During The Industrial Age
By: Aria Lugo, Alexandra Barrera, AriAnna Camoia, and Kristen Allen Historical
Context: During the Industrial Age, urban life was the new standard of living for
many people. There was a large call for workers in the cities so people moved to
find jobs, and hoped to start a new life. Often times this was not the case, as
working conditions horrible especially for women and children. A new social
order came out of the Industrial Age as well the middle class. In this social class
women were the heads of domestic life and were supposed to create the Ideal
Home Life for their children and husbands, most of the time they had to work at the
same time. Gains were also made in public education for many children during this

People in the countryside, who were typically farmers, were no longer needed as
many new factories came into the picture. These people had to move into the cities
and find jobs, hoping to start a new life. Little did they know that there would be so
many people moving into these cities that work would be hard to come by. These
families became the new middle class. To pay the bills, not only would the man of
the house search for work, his wife and children would as well. For children in this
new middle class, however, there were many more opportunities for education than
ever before. This is the mark of the Industrial
What Factors in the Present Situation of Hong Kong
Explain...
Often when we talk about culture and belonging, cultural identity is a large
component which follows up the traditions, values and customs practised by a group.
The most prominent concern there is with Hong Kong s political and social situation
is the issue of independence, nationalism and identity. Hong Kongs political identity
and struggle, although has extensive history, prevails today. The identity crisis
began in the year 1997. On July 1st, Hong Kong was handed over back to the People
s Republic of China (PRC); acquiring the title of being a Special Administrative
Region (SAR) of the PRC. This is only a temporary title, however, as on July 1, 2046,
Hong Kong will lose its SAR status, and become a regular state of the PRC. Hence,...

Places where art really flourishes are those where there are urgent issues that art needs
to deal with. (Ho, 2005). In this statement, we immediately gather that art isn t only
utilised for the purpose of leisure or entertainment, however inspiration comes from
minor things in our surroundings which become greater things in retrospect. Art
holds a much deeper and meaningful message, and is often used to reach out to the
masses. Common examples are propaganda and protest. In the midst of this identity
crisis, Tsou Choi Tsang, a street graffitiartist s work is of great significance today.
The sudden surge of interes in Tsang s work can be explained by its connection to
Hong Kong s society; the process of creating culture, rather than preserving it. Due
to the political and social factors in Hong Kong s society today, Tsang s work is
perpetually relevant. His work highlights the themes of property ownership, post
colonialism, power, and territoriality. Even 17 years after the handover back to
China, and 7 years after Tsou Choi Tsang s death, his work is still powerful and
influential as it covers topics which several locals can relate to. Tsou Choi Tsang,
better recognised by the title of the King of Kowloon came to Hong Kong at the age
of 16. He had very limited education. He worked as a construction worker, however a
tragedy left him living on the support of crutches
Essay about The Juggler
The Juggler
I want to believe in faith and risk and a world where you can stand beneath the grey
October sky and flash your own colours through the air like a magician (218 221, p.
6). These beautiful lines constitute the final conclusion of the short story, The Juggler
, written by Ursula Hegi and published in 2001. The story deals with themes such as
beauty, letting go and being stuck in the past.
The short story takes place in Coeur d Alene in the first weekend of October. An
unnamed first person narrator tells the story of her daughter, Zoe and her boyfriend,
Michael who have come to visit her. It is the first time she meets Michael, who is a
counsellor at the school where her daughter teaches. They go to the cinema and on ...

Other times I felt like I were eleven and she thirty (ll. 91 92, p. 3). The mother
almost bursts into self oscillation when she tells Michael about her memories with
Zoe. This could lead to the conclusion that Zoe is used to taking responsibility for
other people and, seen from a homespun psychological point of view, perhaps likes
the fact that Michael reminds her of her mother in the way that he needs her.
Another result of the mother s loneliness and dependency on her daughter is the
fact that she cannot let her go. She lives in the past and loves the memories of a
time she refuses to leave, nor can she ever leave it unless she accepts the fact that
Zoe is now a grown up. She has her own life now. The bird has flown.
So maybe she should just handle her over to Michael. After all he is not a maniac
killer or anything. He seems rather nice and Zoe really loves him, but the narrator
simply is too jealous to be happy for her daughter, Zoe turns, smiling at him with so
much light in her eyes that I have to look away (ll. 74 75, p. 3).
The writer leaves, in a very discrete but intelligent and awfully interesting way, many
symbols and details for further interpretation. For instance, a visual description of the
narrator has been left out. Therefore, she appears as a set of thoughts, which on one
side means that the events that take place in the story often are
Persuasive Essay On Minimum Wage
My hands were sweating, and my legs was shaking while I was paying my college
bill, realizing that I have nothing left over from my savings. To begin with, a
Minimum wage is stressing people out and leading them to huge failure in life.
Students and families are being destroyed because of low income wages, students
have been quitting their education because of not earning enough money and
parents also are losing passions toward their future and kids because of not
affording their family s needing. Moreover, studies and research show that there is
more than 60 million people in the United States have been suffering from
minimum wages. As a person who have experienced how someone could suffer
from not having enough money to continue in life. Being not able to pay a one
semester college bill makes a student feel the worst feelings in life ever, and it s so
hard at a young age dealing with difficult situations, caused by not having enough
money. Seeing a father who s losing his passions and getting smaller and smaller in
his kid s eyes is also an upsetting moment. Then these moments started to become a
part of our daily life routine and all the family members were not worrying ore
thinking of anyone in the family. Families starts to argue and hate each other s
because of minimum wages, Minimum wages are destroying families. As a person
who is facing a huge problem by being minimum waged I want to do something and
increase the minimum wages, seeing my family being destroyed

never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience

In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non identical
ideas and views thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham,
Bonacum, 2004). All the members started feeling important in the team, which
therefore overpowered the negatives arising due to the diversity. According to
Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) Giambatista (2004), proper communication without
any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall team.
Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key
for a good team. Also the research (Wu Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my
argument. It says that the individuals in a team should be frank in their approach
and should stand by their own arguments until completely convinced by the logic.
Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012, p24) categorized a clear
and reasoned thinker and communicator . Clear communication and open expression
of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a
better understanding which is a must to work together.
Later on, the work was delegated within us to improve the self, show courage,
persistence and effective determination (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also
mention about the challenges and the way we handled them. However improper

The Negative Impact Of Technology And Its Impact On
Sports
Technology has put tons of pressure on leagues, especially the NF officials to make
the right call. With this technology growing rapidly, fan awareness is drastically
increasing and is putting tons of pressure on the job of officials. The NFL s biggest
impact on television has been the Instant Replay, which has moved into all sports
now. It has made such a promising impact of the entertainment factor of sports. With
freeze frame and slow motion, Broadcasters are now able to teach the young
padawans of football. But this has also made calls and the game itself very
controversial and a lot of negative impacts have resulted, just the same as the good
ones. The crazy part about the technology, is that it is still growing at a rapid pace.

It shows people things that no one could see 15,20,25 years ago. Now we can hear
players chirping at others and players reactions to their team scoring. We can now
feel what these athletes do, by how close the broadcastings and productions get us
to the game experience. It s at the point people rather sit and see the game with all
these angles and sounds that you wouldn t be able to experience at the game itself.
Growing up I have seen the changes of the production of sporting events but
sometimes I wish I had some of the technology even 5 7 years ago. These new
cameras that are being invented can break down a swing in seconds. This is huge
especially in developmental level, now it let s students of the game learn how to
fix it s swing and learn from watching these cameras break down a professional s
swing. The Broadcast and Production has not just changed the game for the
enjoyment factor but also a learning factor. Professional athletes have come out,
and have said how big the advancement in technology is for the production of
sports. It allows these pro s to easily break down plays and learn formations and
from their mistakes. NBA MVP Lebron James has stated how much better it is to
watch film these days and learn with all the fancy effects and graphics. The progress
of the technology for the productions has not just changed the fan s view but also the
stars we watch and look up

[5] While culture techniques provide identification to a small population present
on the surface of the skin, this allows for only living species to be cultured. The
populations identified using molecular approaches showed a higher range of
diversity, but measured both live and dead cells using 16S ribosome RNA
metagenomic sequencing. For a topical agent to be effective against P. acnes the
bacteria present should be alive to allow competition between bacterial cells, so the
needs for molecular approaches in this study are not necessary. Typical lab culture
techniques will provide the necessary isolates found living on healthy hosts. With the
studies previously performed on ways to treat acne, one team of investigators found
that a fungus present in aloe vera exhibits antimicrobial and anti inflammatory
properties against P. acnes. [6] Talaromyces wortmannii poses Compound C, which
can be obtained from crude extracts of the aloe vera plant that is the host to this
fungi. Compound C showed inhibition of toll like receptors that induce inflammation
response. P. acnes induces inflammation through the use of toll like receptors, TLR 2
specifically, and induces inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. [7] From Grice et
al. of the overall species diversity on the human skins shows a fungus that is part of
the normal flora of the skin. Since
Impact Of Scrooge In A Christmas Carol
Impacted can be defined as having a strong influence in a positive manor on someone
or something. Scrooge was impacted most by the Ghost of Christmas present in the
novella A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. The Ghost of Christmas present
taught him how to show kindness to others, and showed Scrooge how he affected
those around him.
Scrooge began his transformation into a good man when the Ghost of Christmas
present shows him the Cratchit household. Scrooge throughout this scene is
presented with the consequences of his actions and how they affect those who are
less fortunate than he. Think of that. Bob had but fifteen bob a week himself; he

probably never will, people who are suffering themselves. After the Ghost showed
Scrooge the Cratchit s household and his nephew s house, he showed him people
far from home, people in jails, people in hospitals, and people who were simply
struggling. The Ghost blessed each of those people, the people that he had no
relation to, the people whom he knew nothing about. Their struggles were relieved,
the struggling more patient, the sick healed, and so on. In doing this, the Ghost
showed Scrooge that although Scrooge was not magical, one person s blessing can
impact many people. He showed Scrooge that kindness and generosity can make the
biggest difference, and caring about others, caring about all others, can create a big

The Importance Of Pilot Missions During World War II
When we were flying in formation and had to go through clouds, we would always
go straight. A number of times, with all the bombs we would carry we would just
follow the leader. This one time I remember, I had the speed down to about 100
mph. That didn t suit me. I was on my leader s wing, and he was climbing, but I
thought he was climbing too steep. The speed kept dropping off. When it got to
ninety, I just broke away. I did not want to stall out that airplane. Throughout that

large percentage of the 353rd fighter pilot missions involved escorting B 17

farming family. Cash had a difficult childhood and his music surely inspired many.
Although, he had a great career, he, no doubt, made many mistakes. He was

John R. Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26th, 1932 when the

who grew cotton. When he was only three, Cash and his family moved from

arrangements is around 74.5%. In January 2003, Thomas Hales from the University

S. E. Hinton: One of the most successful authors from Oklahoma.
This is where Susan Eloise Hinton s story begins. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
on July 22, 1948 to Lilian and Grady P. Hinton. The author grew up in Tulsa as well,
beginning to kick off her writing career during the year of 1967 when her first book
came out, titled The Outsiders . She was inspired at a young age, 17 to be exact, and
began being called The Voice of The Youth . Her first story was influenced by
witnessing a Greaser friend being beaten by a Soc , and decided to write and make
aware of what went on at school, even in a small town. Every one of her works got
popular and quickly known. Susan s books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She wrote The Outsiders so she would have something to read, or so she said. If only
she had known that the rest of America also had something to read now, thanks to her.
The year is now 1970, and Susan is only 18 years old. The Outsiders was
outrageously popular, and the major success enabled Hinton to attend the University
of Tulsa, where she would meet her future husband, David Inhofe, and earn a
degree in education. She wasn t going to stop with just one work, the strong will to
write always clung to her like a crying child to it s mother. At one point in her life,
she suffered from a condition called writer s block, that generally has to do with
losing the ability to write, or be slow with creativity prohibiting the author to create
new works. However, David Inhofe would make Susan write at least two pages a
day to get over her writer s block, or the two would not leave the house that day.
After the fact, her next book would be named This Was Then, This is now , which
would be published in 1971 and also soon get recognized as a classic novel by
Susan. The book is about two foster brothers that get torn apart as one gets more
engulfed by school and girlfriends, as the other moves deeper into a life of crime and
substance abuse. In each book, Hinton shows the real maturity of adolescent males in
Tulsa who grow by making crucial judgements, and the true harshness within the
students in the lower classes. Another writing Susan created was Rumble Fish , in

Overcoming Homeless Essay
In this paper, I will focus on the topic of why veterans are coming back homeless.
Veterans are seen as a savior of the country they are risking their lives for every day,
so why is it that they are coming back from tours and service and ultimately ending
up homeless? Since 2009 the United States stated that in five years they would end
veteranhomeless, but the United Statesis still facing veteran homelessness in the year
2017. Though the homeless rates of veterans have gone down since then, why are
veterans still facing homelessness if so many resources are supposed to be available
for them. Is there more than meets the eye when it comes to homelessness especially
with veterans, yes. Many things can attribute to this continuing issue such as lack of
assistances provided, mental illnesses, PTSD, lack or loss of support from being
deployed, the use of drugs and alcohol as coping strategies, and the economics.

As Reve Walsh put it: It was a sad thing for this country that the fight had to be led
by two broken down parents of a murdered child (Standiford, 2001).
The authors underscore that it could not be said that the Hollywood department
was incompetent. Rather that the case was too difficult, and Detective Hoffman
turned out to be too snobbish not only to ask for help but also to accept help from
Joe Matthews when he offered it not once. Hoffman was too unstructured and ill
equipped for such mind bogging case (Standiford, 2001).Det. Serg. Matthews was
a lie detector expert and an experiences homicide detective and, being hired by the
Hollywood, Fl, Police Department, he was very interested by the case and was
ready to use his knowledge to solve the case. Among other things, the difference in
approaches of two detectives was that Hoffman was obsessed with finding physical
evidences linking Toole to the Adam s murder; while Matthews believed that
circumstantial evidence could make do in some cases.
That meticulous recount of all glaring mistakes of the Hollywood, Fl, police
department and the detailed description of their daily working life had its aim in
showing that detectives work is far from the glamorized TV series. Doing on a

Sin And Redemption In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel...
Sin and Redemption Every novel has characters who have certain flaws, making them
do something that can change the entirety of the story. The main theme in The
Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is that of sin and redemption, and the actions
of certain characters shapes the work as a whole. These characters, like Hester, will
commit great sins, forcing them to carry around their guilt with them until they
redeem themselves for it. However, this doesn t always happen. Some characters, like
Dimmesdale, never get the chance to redeem themselves, which forces them to live
with their guilt and sin for the rest of their life. The Scarlet Letterdeals with the acts of
sin committed by the novel s main character, Hester Prynne. She commits what the
Puritan society believes is the worst sin any person can commit, adultery. Though
Hester believes what she did isn t that bad, her society views her actions as the
work of the devil. They lock her up in prison and force her to wear a scarlet letter A
(Hawthorne 27) on her breast to show the world what she had done. After years of
wearing the scarlet letter, Hester finally accepts it as a part of her sin, which is the
first step to leading her towards redemption. Once Hester is released from prison,

Drover in the short story. Elizabeth also uses foreshadowing when Mrs. Drover is to
scared to look at the letter again. There it shows how Mrs. Drover feels as if there is

A lot of the foreshadowing Elizabeth shows throughout the short story is that Mrs.

(British Literature 171).
The flashback Shown in The Demon Lover is when she has the memory of meeting
the soldier and agreeing to marry him and giving a hint that Mrs. Drover thinks the
letter came from him. She also explains a flashback by how the soldier would treat
her showing that she might had made a promise to him that she didn t keep (British
Literature 171).
Elizabeth Bowen uses ambiguity to create mystery to the story. As to how the
letter arrived to the house, who sent the letter, what promise Mrs.Drover made to
her soldier fiance, and the ending of the story all bring a thought of mystery when
reading it. The promise that Mrs. Drover could have made to the soldier could
have been to always be true to him and not marry or that she would die if he died.
At the ending of the story it could have been the ghost of the dead soldier or that she

Population Decline Initiated The City s Fiscal Stress
Detroit, MI.
Background Population decline initiated the city s fiscal stress. Once being the
largest city in the U.S., Detroit s population declined from 1.85 million during 1950
to 714,000 in 2010 (Stone et al. 2015, p.91). Similar to the case of D.C., this
population decrease is a result of suburbanization. Population decrease resulted in
reduced property values and a decline in property tax revenues (Stone et. al. 2015).
Parallel to population loss, declining unemployment as a result in crisis in the
manufacturing sector also took place. Consequently, the decrease in employment
resulted in consistent decline in the city s income tax receipts, causing revenues to

In its recent history, the FCB was not received well by Detroit voters, particularly
African Americans (Presbey 2015). Currently, the majority of Detroit citizens are
African Americans and they live in an area ruled by an emergency manager that
they did not elect democratically (Presbey 2015). In the 2012 election, Michigan
citizens repealed the Emergency Manager Law, in which fifty two percent of the
state s residents, including eighty two percent of Detroit voters, voted to take away

However, soon after the repeal the governor drafted a new emergency manager law
known as Public Act 425, which could not be repealed because it is tied to the

example, the Boggs Center to Nurture Community serves as a reaction to the crisis.
The group aims to offer comfort to the citizens through a revolution of thinking,

Kwakiutl Tribe
Across centuries people have asked, what does it mean to live a wholesome life? Is it

Dance and music are important characteristics in indigenous life and celebrates

that merged at a very great height. Pumice stones of up to 20cm then began to fall
at 8 p.m. with ash between 9 and 10 p.m. Then violent winds blew toward Sanggar
between 10 and 11 p.m. Possible pyroclastic flows that buried the village of
Tambora could be attributed to the winds. A tsunami of 4 meters hit Sanggar a
short time before 10 p.m., indicating a sudden entry of the pyroclastic flow into the
sea. The explosions could be heard as far away as 1050 km and in many places
produced concussions that resembled small earthquakes (Stothers, 1984). The next
day the explosions were louder and could be heard as far away as 2600 km. The ash
veil was spreading out over a vast extending as far as western Java. In spots within
600 km of the volcano the sky remained pitch dark for 1 or 2 days, the hot was
reported to be extremely hot and then cold. A nitrous odor was noticeable as far west
as Batavia (Stothers, 1984). The ash finally stopped falling between the 14th and
The Us Real Estate Industry
Industry Overview: The US real estate industry is a staple in the US economy. It is
one of the main drivers in Economic growth and a telltale sign of the overall health
of the United States. For this reason, this industry is often thought of as cyclical and
largely dependent on the health of the economy and influx of demographics. In 2000
20005 there were large interest rate drops, which allowed this industry to thrive .
Rising demands for real estatepaired with these low interest rates kept the economy
growing as well as residential construction to match. However, in 2006 the market
for residential properties took a large hit in demand and prices began to plummet.
This nationwide crash was realized through the nation, leaving real estate levels at
an all time low . Since then, interest rates have remained extremely low and real
estate values and economic growth has begun to pick up. With the reverse of the
real estate industry came the rise of public storage. People began spending more
once we got over the hump of the recession, leading to crowded homes. As they
needed a place to store their items, self storage became the go to solution. With
more than $22 billion in annual revenue in the US alone, self storage has now
stretched itself to over 49,000 facilities worldwide. Total rentable space is almost
2.3 billion square feet, and about one in 10 households now rent at least 1 storage
unit . The size, quality, and amenities of a self storage company vary with the
company,
Three Ways Of Writing For Children By C. S Lewis
C.S Lewis wrote an essay titled On Three Ways of Writing for Children. A highly
acclaimed author of children s fantasy books widely known for his series The
Chronicles of Narnia Lewis goes into detail about the three ways children s stories
can be written. This essay will examine these three categories in relation to C.S
Lewis s book entitled Prince Caspian.
In his essay On the Three Ways of Writing for Children, Lewis describes three ways
he feels writers use when writing children s literature. The first he describes as,
giving the public what it wants. Children are, of course, a special public and you
find out what they want and give them that, however little you like it yourself.
Writing a children s story for the sake of writing a children s story. It s written strictly
for the purpose of selling to a specified audience. You give them what you think they
want even if you don t agree or like what you are writing. The second way Lewis
describes as, The printed story grows out of a story told to a particular child with the
living voice and perhaps ex tempore. . We know from Lewis himself that Prince
Caspian was not written out of a story he told to a child; he wrote this book as part of
a series of books based around the Pevensie children, who discover a mysterious and
magical land in the back of a wardrobe (Prince Caspian is the second in a series of
seven books). Lewis advocates for writing not to impress, but for expression. He does
not write children s books
The Importance Of Censorship
Imagine a society without censorship, where everyone knows each other s secrets,
it would be lethal for society. What would happen if people knew one s
weaknesses?. There is evil that needs to be censored. Censorship is necessary in our
society for many different reasons. It protects nations, prevents conflict in society, it
protects the morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful for children.
Censorship Protects a Nation
Censorship is very important in relation to a nation, It restrains vulgarity and
obscenity (Pillai). It helps the nation against any danger. First, it protects military
information that could be used for evil, then, it can also help on controlling panic and
rumors throughout a nation, A similar case was observed in India in 2008 when
terrorists attacked The Taj MahalPalace Hotel in Mumbai (Pillai). Finally, censorship
preserves the secrets of the entire nation, secrets that could put nations in danger
(Pillai). Censorship can lead to a peaceful society by protecting our secrets from those
who want to harm us.
Censorship Prevents Conflict In Society
Censorship helps to evade conflict in different ways, Censoring hate helps to
promote peace (11 Biggest Pros and Cons of Censorship). By censoring hate we can
stop the rumors of hate through our society, and we could only worry about our
community, and not for those who hate. There is wealth violent material in Internet
that can be accessed with ease, this exposure is dangerous because it makes
The Significance Of Home In Ayn Rand s Anthem
The idea of everyone s best shelter is home has been implant in people s mind. home
truly is a great shelter for us to escape the worries and problems outdoor, keep people
away from the danger and give one the best comfort. Home is such a big word, it
console people by sharing the love inside of it, one can get comfort at homeafter a
cruel blow or a terrible disappointment. but those facts are not the most important
point, the significance of home is not just about what comfort it able to give after a
strike, or how good it is as a shelter. home is about what one can get to fight with a
bad situation happened outside, what sort of positive influences it can make for a
person who hit by a serious problem, and which idealistic concept it represent....

  • 2. Chronic Injuries Robbed Ken Griffey Jr. of Homerun King... He hit 600 home runs (5th most all time), won 10 gold gloves, and made 13 All Star Games. In almost 150 years baseball history, only the great Willie Mays can match Ken Griffey Jr. in these statistical categories. However, despite these extraordinary stats, Ken Griffey Jr. may be the ultimate What Could Have Been player. An incredibly promising career was derailed in the latter half by chronic injuries that robbed him of hundreds of games. If not for these injuries, Griffey was well on his way to becoming the Home RunKing (Stark, 2010) and possibly the greatest player ever. Despite these setbacks, Griffey is still revered as one of the greatest and most popular MLB players ever. The savior of baseball in Seattle and the lone star to... He also appeared in many TV shows such as The Simpsons and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, as well as movies, and wrote his own autobiography (Ferguson, 2011). His 1989 rookie card remains the most popular baseball card ever. During the prime of his career in the late 1990s, he was easily the most popular baseball player and possibly even most popular athlete in the world. Nowhere in the country is he more popular than in Seattle, where he is considered the savior of baseball in the city. In the 1980s, the Mariners were a historically moribund franchise playing in the crumbling Kingdome. Prior to his arrival, the Mariners had been seriously considering a move to Washington DC, but that all changed once Griffey came (Fort, 2000, p. 313). His exciting style of play immediately attracted fans and attention to the franchise (Caple, 2010). In 1995, Griffey led a miracle rally to the Mariners first playoff appearance in decades (Reader, 2010), and capped the season by scoring the game winning run to defeat the New York Yankees in the first round (Schaefer, 2003, p.6). His rise rejuvenated baseball and the city in general, leading the building of the new stadium, Safeco Field , dubbed the House That Griffey Built . Griffey s most enduring legacy, however, was being one of the few star players who were not involved in
  • 3. The Role Of The Holy Spirit The Role of the Holy Spirit in Salvation HOMI 860 397 LUO Jonathan Behler L23929745 What is the Holy Spirit s role in salvation? How can sinful man come to the saving knowledge of a Holy God? What part does the Holy Spirit play in regeneration? These are the questions we are going to investigate today. My intention with this sermon is to challenge us and encourage us in the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration of a soul. With that said let us begin our study. Let us begin by defining the word regeneration. According Charles Ryrie regeneration is an act of God that imparts eternal life to sinful man (Ryrie, 1965). Titus 3:5 (King James Version) states, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Many individuals will sometimes utilize the words justification, regeneration, and sanctification interchangeably. (Ryrie, 1965). Justification is the declaring of a person to be just or righteous (Elwell, 1997). Sanctification is the process that the Holy Spirit uses after a person is justified to become more like Jesus. Regeneration is what starts the journey of eternal life, which is becoming born again, regeneration occurs instantaneously. This is not vague or ambiguous as in Dimmock v Hallet (1866); and as such will amount to a statement of fact. As such, it satisfies the first requirement for an actionable misrepresentation. With regard to the query as to the colour of the service, C would probably argue that this was merely an opinion. The general rule, as stated, in Bisset v Wilkinson (1927) is that a statement of opinion, from a person who is not an expert, will not form an actionable misrepresentation. However, in Smith v Land House Property Corporation (1884), it was stated that an opinion may amount to a statement of fact when it is made by one who knows best as it carries implicit assertion that facts are known to support the opinion. This, the expertise and knowledge that C possesses in respect of Coalport goods will be important as to whether this constitutes a statement of fact. Finally in Brown v Raphael (1958), it was stated that a statement of fact will often be found if the representor is in a far stronger position to know the facts than the representee. Obviously, this is the case here because Carolyn actually owns the goods in question so presumably knows them, and also Jane is not at the liberty to inspect the service herself. With regard to the statement about obtaining a replacement, it is questionable as to whether this will constitute a statement of fact.

Gender inequalities along with stereotypical representations from society are presented as themes among Sandra Cisnero s and Junot DiМЃaz s short stories. While society may present and project an accepted view among the gendernorms, each person is unique in his or her opinions and experiences. While the mother is working and trying to maintain the household while dealing with the absent father, this demonstrates that sometimes women are not as feeble as they may be perceived, especially in cases such as having an absent significant other. Another example is Cisnero s Bien Pretty where the female narrator finds herself quickly falling in love with Flavio ManguiМЃa and feels emotionally weak, but ultimately discovers that he commited an infidelity with two other women (Cisnero, Bien Pretty 138). While the narrator may be emotionally weak in terms of having feelings for her significant other, she concludes that she could happily live alone without a significant other; society sometimes does not approve of this necessarily, but expects women to be submissive to a man. While society portrays men are portrayed as dominant and the leader of the household as and may determine the idea of masculinity, men may be susceptible to the same hardships as women as well. One example is DiМЃaz s Fiesta where the boy narrator and his brother, Rafi, withold his father s infidelity a secret from their mother for favor of keeping the family together. While acts of infidelity are frowned upon and the father may be described as a toxic figure to the household with child abuse, the boy narrator suffers from emotional and physical

Often when we talk about culture and belonging, cultural identity is a large component which follows up the traditions, values and customs practised by a group. The most prominent concern there is with Hong Kong s political and social situation is the issue of independence, nationalism and identity. Another result of the mother s loneliness and dependency on her daughter is the fact that she cannot let her go. She lives in the past and loves the memories of a time she refuses to leave, nor can she ever leave it unless she accepts the fact that Zoe is now a grown up. She has her own life now. We know from Lewis himself that Prince Caspian was not written out of a story he told to a child; he wrote this book as part of a series of books based around the Pevensie children, who discover a mysterious and magical land in the back of a wardrobe (Prince Caspian is the second in a series of seven books).
